HI. I agree with roydunce.. being alone without distractions can be hard. When we are alone the "only" person we have is ourselves.

One thing you may want to do is use the "alone time" in a way to help make you stronger. This moment without distraction is extremely valuable to you. Don't fill it up with more distractions but let it be filled with tools that will help you be more comfortable with yourself. The time is YOUR time. Let it be the time where you will grow- what ever that means. Maybe it's thinking about the things you value. It may be the best time to think about the therapy you may have learnt about anxiety and depression -and let it work for you.

I stumbled upon this website maybe by mistake or with purpose. It seems to me that many people if not all who post on this website have failed to really KNOW God. You might have gained knowledge ABOUT God but failed to actually KNOW (establish a real relationship)with him. Someone who really accepted Christ as their savior cannot be afraid of hell for they are truely saved from its eternal fire. Others here are asking that "if God is an all loving God why did he create hell and send people there?" If you knew what the Bible really says you would know that hell was not originally created for man but for satan and his angels for turning against God. God is all loving and that was the reason for him sending Jesus to die for us. As a ransom to pay for our debt(sin) so that we will not go to that awful place. For all of you reading this God still loves you even though you have maybe decided to reject him. There is still time to turn back to him as he welcomes you back with open arms. Those who choose to still not believe there is a hell and willfully reject the living God than yes there is a space reserved just for you in a not so nice place. If you dont believe that now you will when you get there. Remember God doesnt want anyone to go there, it is clearly write in the Bible that he wishes no one goes there. God does love us.

This is my answer to your question. You have free will, you nor anyone else is a robot. You decided to eat breakfast this morning right? you could have chosen not to as well. In EVERY persons life God has given them the opportunity to accept his mercy and grace through Jesus showing that he loves everyone and does not want anyone to go to hell. If you are given an opportunity by someone to avoid something bad wouldnt you accept it? Of course. But you also have the choice to reject it. God created hell for satan and his angels. satan is the deceiver that turns us away from God. All who turn from God become friends with satan and obviously enemies of God therefore get the same fate he will get. satan means "adversary" by the way.

But its through Jesus that we reconcile ourselves with God and obtain his love and mercy.

One question for you. Do you still believe in the Bible?

You chose to believe he is not real, but that doesnt make him not real, just not real to you.

And to answer your question: God doesnt not hate the sinner, he loves them. God hates the sin commited by the sinner. And he understands that its not we who commit the sin but the evil forces at work in us. That is why he gives us the way out which is through Jesus.

For the pay of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life with him through Jesus Christ says the Bible.

What happens when you kill someone? You are convicted and sentenced to jail if not life in jail! Why? because justice is done. Same thing with God, you deliberately chose to not care about him and sin, when he has the best things for you and wants to give you eternal life , justice must be done. A price must be paid. That is where grace comes in. When we dont deserve anything he is willing to offer, he still offers the best for us. That price we are suppose to pay by going to hell was paid on the cross by Jesus so that we dont have to go there. But we still chose to reject it.

Last thing. In your case, what if hell is real and you just chose not to believe it? What if when you die you actually end up there?

boomslang.....not at any point in time did I say you had to believe what Im saying. You either chose to or not is that simple.

God is God. He can do as he wishes. He can send us all to hell if he wanted to right now. But thats just it. He doesnt want to, yet he will if you chose not to believe in him. He will do what he does not want to, you are correct there and he still remains omnipontent. He could make you believe in him right now if he wanted to. Yet his love is not forced onto others, he lets us choose.

Lastly, if I chose to believe in God and there is no God no hell or no heaven and it was really all made up I have nothing to worry about or lose when I die. If you chose not to believe in God and there really is a God a heaven and a hell than you have everything to lose and nothing to gain.

You're still alive. You still have time to turn back. Once you;re in the grave theres not turning back there.

Do you know the real difference between Christianity and other "religions". Christianity offers GRACE. No other "religion" offers that. Christianity is not a religion, its a relationship between you and God. Its a way of life. There are no other Gods, not because I said it but becuase God himself said it. He is the only true God.

When the Bible speaks about "death" its not speaking about physical death, its refering to spiritual death. We are spiritual beings.

If a serial killer goes on a rampage why does he deserve jail? Why dont we just let all serial killers run around lose if the government has the power to? See the point?

The devils greatest trick was to make people believe him and God dont exist. Makes his work a lot easier.

I'm thinking about the trust provided by commercial "root CA" organisations like verisign and thawte, and about the peer trust provided by things like pgp, also the notion of non commercial trust relationships such as might be facilitated by organisations like apache by signing keys as a non commercial root for people who they "know". To a lesser extent governments might also choose to take a role in this verification of identity.
You have to remember that we use one certificate, but it has two purposes the obvious one is encryption, the less well understood is (via the signing of the keys) a chain of trust.
These processes of identity verification are already well supported by technology, no anti-spam solution needs to confuse the issue by re-inventing this.

You have minsuderstood the point I was making about STV.
Increasing the size of a council constituency and reducing the directness between councillor and constituents could not possibly increase accountability, it might improve representation for supporters of minority parties, and break the stranglehold which an in-built majority (so called "safe seats") can give to a party, but that is way not the same thing.

Finally you've totally misrepresented my point about machines.
1/ Electronic vote counting machines *will* be used. It says so on the back of my polling card.
2/ I'm not in the least bit interested in electronic voting machines, I never mentioned them. Nor am I talking about how the ballot boxes are handled nor about the counting centres.
3/ What I'm commenting on is concerns that have been clearly expressed elsewhere about the lack of sample checking to verify the counts given by the machines. Can we rest so easy on that one?

Please don't use my blog to post misleading spin, I'm not an idiot and neither are my other readers (with perhaps one or two notable exceptions).

Cheers Andy. I'm not going to bin vista biz for now, I don't think I can be bothered and I haven't had such a bad experience as I expected. windows explorer is woefully slow, but some other stuff seems more stable, I only reboot once a week or so and move between several wired and wireless networks with no fuss at all.
My wife's xps m1330 (yes we have one each!) has vista home, and we had to set up her wireless connection @ home with a fixed IP because it didn't cope well with sleep/wake/sleep/wake and DHCP. Possibly wasn't good at renewing leases which expired while it was asleep. Whether this is a "home" issue or unique to her machine or our house is anyone guess.

1. Yeah, I love dollar coins lets do like Canada and get rid of our 1 dollar bill.

2. A lot of people cite the reason, strippers. Well, unlike Canada, lets keep our 2 dollar bill as a paper bill. Theres already enough of them, contrary to popular belief, there is hundreds of millions going around. This way at most, you would only have to carry one at a time.

3 Get rid of the penny, I hate that thing. To do this, every time the bank gets some, just destroy them. Thats how we got rid of 500 and greater notes.

Wow, that certainly takes me back. I do have one memory of this racing game where you drove a car and there were three lanes and you'd just move left and right to avoid the cars you were passing. The unit itself was pretty cool because it was like binocular shaped and the top had a translucent white area that let light down into the game to see the cars and track. If you put your hand over the top you couldn't see the game through the eyepieces. The game had buttons on the left and right side for the fingers (just where you'd hold a pair of binoculars to see through) and one button was orange and the unit itself was sort of beige. Anyone remember what it was called?

1/ I'm not blaming Mugabe, I'm simply sad to see the problems experienced by the people of Zimbabwe. A beautiful country of good people which I have become very fond of.
2/ I don't think that the fact of the policy of land reform is the whole cause of the current problems, land reform predates them.
3/ I already know that whites are not put on earth to rule black people, but if you can be an American Black man White people can surely be Africans too. I am saddened that whites and blacks in Zimbabwe cannot sort out their country without this chaos, it has so much potential. South Africa has problems too, but they are managing to make progress without destroying their society.

I hope that life in New Orleans is bearable, we were shocked at the devastation.

Most organisations don't have 1T of customer data, and aren't really growing the data they have by large amounts, what *is* growing is the volume of consumer storage of video's, music and photos.
This variant of Parkinson's law "stuff always expands to fit the storage available to it" is going to be upheld by consumer storage requirements, not by huge growth in the data companies hold.

Thank you for the article!! I just wanted to say thank you for putting out this article. Its very good to see some positive Ron Paul articles, especially ones that involve opposing Giuliani. He has failed to address the issues that Dr. Paul brought up at the debate, which to me, shows he knows he was wrong and he would rather avoid it instead.

I really would like to stress the importance to Iowans out there to get to Ames and show support. Dr. Paul doesn't have the money that Romney does to buy votes and bus them in from all over the state. However, he does have a very loyal support base that grows every day and I hope that the meet up groups continue their success.

JB, sometimes I think that fans get to the point of where they get frustrated at a play that has no control over the situation. To me a player that does not hustle versus one that is on the DL are 2 separate issues and need to be addressed as such. The player that does not hustle needs everyone on hus butt and the one on the DL needs to be shown precaution that can help him stay off.

Ik heb laatst op National Geograhic een reportage gezien hierover. Weerzinwekkend. Enorme sparrenbossen zijn volledig gekapt en de grond volledig geruineerd. Bij de productie van het teerzand komt een enorme berg zwavel vrij. Deze letterlijke berg ligt daar in het landschap.
De documentaire eindigde met de volgende uitspraak: "De oorspronkelijke begroeing (pachtige uitgestrekte bossen) is door Shell volledig verwoest. Shell heeft Canada beloofd om na de winning de bossen weer te herstellen. Niemand weet of dat ook echt mogelijk is. Maar de wereld is bereid om dit risico te nemen". Toen ik dat las moest ik huilen. Werkelijk waar is het niet te geloven dat wij echt onze hele wereld afbreken om olie te winnen en vervolgens de wereld vergassen om het weer op te stoken om dit vervolgens met zijn allen in de file te doen. Hoe komt het dat maar zo weinig mensen zien dat je hiermee toch niet gelukkig en zeker niet oud wordt?

That's a good decision to make, especially since 90% of your posts were bashing failed relationships ... I've just been one of the silent observers of this whole thing since you began your oldest blog, so I'll just make some ending comments.

There will always be an intertwining of heterosexuality and friendship in relationships with the opposite sex, that's a given; it might be at an unconsious level and it may only regard certain aspects of a person or it may even only get involved because one of your female friends merely knows someone else you think is hot. Anyhow, you can't just go around looking at every girl like she might be your next girlfriend. The best and most fulfilling way to get girlfriends isn't to go into social situations looking for them. In fact, you mention yourself that you have a lot of female friends, and so you evidently don't have a hard time meeting girls.

That being said, the key is to hang out with some of your female friends and get to know them more before you start a more serious relationship. Sometimes liking people develops over time as you realize something about them that isn't immediately apparent -- maybe she's really into the computer scene or something that you just didn't know about earlier. If you slow down some and look around, finding someone who is emotionally stable, who has similar interests, and who you feel would make a good partner and be supportive of you (and vice versa) will lead to more successful relationships.

In conclusion: Take it slow, get to know, then go go go. (Yes, I made that up myself just now.)

What a nice surprise you got this morning with the exclusive clubhouse access. I'm seeing Donnelly as a nice 8th inning setup guy...but if he emerges as the closer, so be it. Most saves are going to be 2-3 run deals so I don't believe that the role is as important as some make it out to be. Donnelly will be fine in the role, given the options that are out there. I'm still concerned about this bullpen though. I hope this is the year that all the bullpen stars align.

Flush-mount sides are exported as an image.

Matted sides are the tricky ones, it depends if they're pre cut or custom cut mats.

Often the typical manufacturing rules change with these type of books ( gutters, bleeds, page size ... ). So we help take care of that too!

A. Somewhere in the back of our minds, we all knew that interception was coming. But for some reason, I still let Jake get my hopes up when we have the ball on the 32 at the end of the game. For the last couple seasons, I've defended Plummer to my dad who has been calling for Jake to be benched since Day 1, but its getting harder and harder to do that every week.

B. I agree that the fact that Cutler was a losing QB in college has no bearing on his play as a pro. I mean he played at Vandy, for God's sake. Matt Leinert would have been a losing QB there too. I also agree that going to Cutler at this point in the season might be seen as playing for next year. At 7-3, you're not playing for next year, even if you're in the best division in football. Seriously though, it could be worse. Andrew Walter could be our quarterback.

C. There are a couple reasons why our defense seems to be struggling. That prevent zone defense is killing us, even when Champ cuts the field in half. But the main thing is that the D is just out on the field way too much. All these three-and-outs don't give them a chance to catch their breath. I honestly think that the reason the D looked so much better the first few weeks of the season was the level of fatigue that comes with being on the field that long every week. The O needs to be able to sustain some drives in the second half. Look at how much better the D played in the first half this week and against Indy. They're on the field too much, and they're tired.

D. Did anyone else see the shot of Shanahan after that pick? I swear he looked like Jake was about to make him cry.

All that being said, I still love it when they show Elway on tv and he's sitting up in his box looking down over his kingdom. And I'm still optimistic about the rest of the season. We can't lose all the big games this closely. Right?

Knock it off with the instant gratification whining. Look at all the great quarterbacks who floundered in their first starts. How many passes did Elway complete in his first start? One. How many passes did Favre complete in his first season? Zero. If you give up on every player who doesn't come out and lead his team to a Super Bowl in his first year, there would not be anyone left in the league. Roethlisberger was a fluke. Have a little patience and confidence in your team. We won two Super Bowls less than ten years ago. How many other teams have won two Super Bowls that recently? One. Only four teams have won more than one Super Bowl in the last twenty years. I want the team to win as much as any Broncos fan. But I've never seen so many people whine and complain about a 7-5 team before in my life. All sports teams struggle! All sports teams have bad years! All athletes have bad games! After seeing fans treat their team like this, I can't imagine many players would want to come to Denver. A rookie kid comes in and plays a decent rookie game, and already people are saying he will amount to nothing. Is that supporting your team? Is that being a fan? The decision has been made. So support Cutler. Fan support is as crucial to his development as anything else is. It is absolutely ridiculous to have fans booing him and calling for his head midway through his first NFL start. There is a difference between supporting your team and only finding wins acceptable. It may not seem like it, but there is. Yes there are standards that should be kept in regards to how well the team performs, but you don't belittle and completely bail out on an underperforming team. Support the team even when they're underperforming. You're not a fan if you're not supporting the team when they're not at their best.

Knock it off with the blaming Cutler for everything. Looking at his stats for the year, if Plummer had played last night, he would have completed about 50% of his passes, for maybe 150-180 yards, with 1 TD, and 1-2 INTs. What did Cutler do? But he got tossed in, so he's trying to make the best out of it, and all of these fair-weather fans gave him 60 minutes worth of football before completely abandoning him. Give the kid a chance people. Show some support for your team and its players. Be a fan.

#71 - I agree that he made some good adjustments at halftime to figure out something in the red zone besides three runs and then a field goal.

A win is a win. God, some of you people are the most incredible pessimists. It takes all the fun out of winning if you keep saying that the wins don't count.

With the Cin-mates coming to town next week, I think we'll get to see a lot of Cutler again, most likely because Coyer will have the corners playing 12 yards deep, and Palmer will throw the ball all over the place. It will at least be interesting to see how Cutler steps up when he is called on to really carry the team. I think he will do well. It wasn't just the throws that he made, it was also the way that he checked off receivers and didn't lock on to Walker or anyone else (like Plummer did). He also made some great plays with his legs that I didn't know he had in him. But we're going to need a couple more picks from Champ next week and hopefully Foxworth can step up against Houshmanzadeh or Henry. Like I said, it will be interesting. Next week is our playoffs.

#102/103/104 pretty much sum everything up, though I thought that we would have been the 5th seed in the playoffs (but I could be wrong).

Its obviously dark times in Chiefs-land when the fans have to be so ecstatic with a mediocre record and a back-pedal into the playoffs. Oh well, Chiefs fans, at least you have a black head coach who LJ will run hard for. The sad thing is that the Chiefs could throw 5 passes against the Colts and probably still win simply because the Colts run-D is so bad.

Its New Years Eve though, so next year is something to look forward to right now. Continued improvement from Cutler, Scheffler, and Marshall will be fun to watch. Hopefully the off-season will bring some changes and maybe some new faces on the field or on the sidelines. The running back situation needs to be figured out. Fortunately for Tatum Bell, fumbles are something that can be corrected. Tiki Barber was a fumbler early in his career too. I don't necessarily think T. Bell is the answer at RB, but he can improve, and so can M. Bell. As for the defensive side of the ball, something big needs to be done. Either the line needs to be revamped so that we can put pressure on the QB with the front four, or that cornerback not named Champ needs to greatly improve so that we don't need all three LBs for pass coverage and can implement more blitzing situations. Whatever happens though, I think Coyer needs to go. But most of all, Rod Smith deserves the utmost respect and praise for the way that he has conducted himself on and off the field.

Oh, and Champ Bailey for Defensive MVP! I can't think of a defensive player who meant more to their defense than Champ did this season. Think about this: Your Denver Broncos starting cornerbacks - Darrent Williams and Dominique Foxworth. Scary, huh?

As a San Diego native, I'm required to cheer for the Chargers when the Broncos are not in contention, but I do so reluctantly. As long as Peyton Manning goes another year without a ring, I will be satisfied.

That first comment by Bollux is absolutely disgusting. What an utter disregard for human life. The people who knew Williams talked about how, when he was younger, he did indeed get mixed up with some of the wrong kinds of people, but then they talked about how he had matured so much since going to college. He was planning on going to Ft. Worth to talk to kids about the dangers of gangs, and he wanted to become a better father for his two young children. People often make individuals out to be better people in death than they were in life, so we cannot know how accurate these comments actually are. But that's not the point. The point is that no one deserves to die at 24 years old, and no one deserves to die in the manner that Williams died in. No mother deserves to bury her only son. It is sickening to think that people such as Bollux still live in our society, and that they would mock the death of a 24 year old kid without even knowing the details of his murder. If there was the same lack of evidence in a drive-by shooting of a white athlete, such hateful words would never be spoken. I hope that Bollux and people like him will someday realize the true worth of human life. My thoughts and prayers are with the Williams family and friends.

None of the above solutions fully worked for me (although I didn't try the outlook approach). When importing a csv file from thunderbird Gmail would put the email address in the notes section.

I tried exporting a couple of email addresses from gmail to see what format it would like. It was a csv format with Name, E-mail and Notes fields. I took my exported csv file from Thunderbird and changed the columns to match what gmail exported. This new file imported successfully and put the email address in the correct location. Note, after importing I composed an email, but the auto-suggest of email addresses did not initially work. After I moved a suggested email address into my contacts then the auto-suggest started working for all my contacts.

Personally I would rather see more people on bikes with or without a helmet upon their head, than more people in cars. We got more to worry about in this world, like global warming, than nit picking about someone wearing a helmet or not.

Get riled up about something really important like wars for oil, ground water contamination, asthma rates in people of color who live near freeways, drunk driving, speeding, people driving 3000 or more pounds to haul their single occupant lard butts around town.

Man the list goes on and on, get a clue about what's really important here.

Why not focus all your concern towards the distracted drivers who cuts you off in the crosswalk as they talk on their cell phone, or speeds down a narrow single lane residential street that is full of blind curves and acts as if they are they only one who uses that roadway. Your venting at the wrong people.

Here we go again once again blaming the victim and not the victimizer...could it be you don’t want to change your driving habits, reduce the speed limits, demand that people take more care behind the wheel Is it the cyclist who kills over 40, 000 Americans a year and permanently injuries million more each year? If you are so concerned with safety than start demanding reduced speed limits, tougher penalties for those who drive recklessly, zero tolerance for drunk driving, drivers ed classes back in schools. Get serious about making the streets safe for all road users, and that has more to do with the way we drive than anything else.

Willy makes the comment that there are only 3 people that are affeceted by the flicker and they must also be bothered by their monitors. I feel special as I must be one of those 3. No, there are many more of us. But the entire light rapidly flickering as in CFLs is distinctly different than the ROLLING refresh on monitors and TV screens where a linear area refresh in a rolling pattern down the screens. Big difference. I would not wish on my enemy the headaches, nausea and vomiting that fluorescent lighting flickering cause me.

I am all for CFLs that refresh higher. But I am still waiting. Yet not willing to sacrafice my health to test more bulbs.

Bottom line is it is the gun owners responsibility to secure the weapon at ALL times. Unless that lil guy foung keys to the gun cabnit or lockbox and opened it, loaded it and blasted himself then it is negligence on the part of the owner. Even in that situation the keys should not be accessable to a child, that is all part of responsible ownership. Once you take possesion of the weapon you are responsible for it.

2. He has no military experience. Limited international experience until recently.

3. He does not have a compelling story like McCain, Hagel or others like the Dems from Cleland GA or the new guy Webb VA.

4. It is not because he is African American, but as the first President of Muslim heritage, but it may not come up as he is veryclose to the Jewish community and Israeli lobby being a favorite of the Jewish community since day 1 since he was a Senator.

5. Not a rags to riches story, not a Horatio Algiers, albeit very accomplished, but Jack Ryan was just as if not more and most of the Senators are Ivy League so maybe in Illinois Senate a Harvard degree or U of C professorship means a lot but not in the Senate.

6. Very articulate, beautiful words but really no vision nor specifics. He articulates well the words of a vision in broad strokes but no real details, no real vision.

7. Obama is fairly liberal. No real cross over except for the religious rhetoric. No real innovative issues. The religious stuff is good but not enough to not be considered a liberal.

Long Rant

My wife does this every few months and yes most of the time it is about something frivious, at least to me. Most of the time I try to rationalize the problem but have finally decided that there is no use applying logic to an irrational person. She has very strong opionions about many things, recreation, relationships with family, etc., and gets angry when I don't see things her way. I don't see how anyone benefits from a total loss of commuiication when usually a lack of commuinication is what caused the problem to begin with. In my view it is very cruel to igonore your spouse when they are trying to make up with you. She even remains totally responsive if I try to kiss or hug her. It seems that she is intentionally trying to hurt me. I think these things need to be resolved as soon as pobbile and just move on. Life is too short.

His act after losses is getting tiring, but at least he's not throwing the organization under the bus for completely destabilizing his pitching schedule. I'm not worried about Joba, I'm worried about what the organization has done to Joba. Pitchers need consistency and the Yanks pulled that from under him in July just when he had found his sync. As for Burnett, this is another example of any other pitching coach having the knowledge and experience to help a guy work out of his troubles, instead Dave Eiland just kinda sits there.
The Yankees have too much talent on that bench to be one and done and I have a lot of faith. Though I could see another one of those years and this time not because of the talent on the field, but because of who is sitting in the dugout and the decisions made upstairs.

Most franchise hits matter to fans of the franchise so it is meaningful Steve. I get it, but you could have picked another battle. It is a meaningful state because no Yankee has 3000 hits, and the most franchise hits was held by someone considered to be the pride of the franchise and a national treasure of the sport. The fact that another pride of the franchise, that we got to witness in an era where there are no more legends, just really ordinary flawed humans, holding an important club record is a big deal for the fans.

It's not the city, it's a state law. The state regulates major athletic fighting competitions and bouts like boxing and martial arts tournaments. More likely than not though the boxing commission may have a hand in lobbying against it too all these years to protect boxing.

That sucks cause it would be a great revenue stream for the stadium ,that could help to reduce baseball ticket prices by allowing more non baseball events and revenue. MMA has such a growing grass roots following because of it being more affordable sports entertainment then most other athletic events. It would be a win for the Yankees.

It's clear that the Yankees need to bring in people to the organization who really know pitching. The way young pitching has been handled and their almost regressive development is becoming a joke for an organization that seems to have stumbled on the rest of the ingredients for a winner. Is every young starting prospect going to be groomed for a stellar bullpen role? Time the examine why the young guys succeed in the pen and not in the rotation.

Greg, I really have to disagree with the race component of your argument. Making it a race issue really undermines Cano because his skills are better than Pedroia so he should be held to a high standard. I would make more of a race issue about how Yankee fans have thrown hispanic players under the bus after their usefullness was up, compared to white players. Compare the treatment of Bernie to Paul Oneil, or how little fans complained at the time Tino was shown the door and the love fest with Giambi, who wasn't half the player Tino was.
Making the debate between Pedroia and Cano racial is a discredit to both of them. It's is disrespectful to Pedroia and his professionalism and it is condescending and patronizing to Cano.

As a Yankee fan I've been saying this for the past couple of years. Cano has way more natural ability but Pedroia has worked for every gain he's made over his career. Based on effort Pedroia is better which is what is so maddening about Cano if he played like he gave a shit he would be the better pick. The race issue is insulting to even mention because I find that demeaning to Cano that an excuse can be made because of how his race is perceived as ball players. That excuse does not do Cano a service, it's like saying it's ok because he doesn't know any better, we should hold him to a lower expectation because of his race. That excuse is a scrap from master's table. White, purple, green Pedroia out hustles Cano plain and simple.

Saying this version might be better is a bit of a stretch. It's good but Wetland/Rivera in 96 really should of been illegal. You're also forgetting Mendoza held down the back end of that pen moping up bad starts(especially Kenny Rodgers' starts), essentially allowing the Yankees to function on a four man rotation and still turn a fifth day mess into wins instead of preying for rain. Mendoza coming in to relieve ailing starters was essentially resetting a bad start from your starter and getting a do over.
I still don't think they've found a middle reliever/setup man with the fortitude of Jeff Nelson.

I like Melky cause he's the only outfielder with a quality arm that can gun down a runner when he has to. Though I'm really starting to think that what you see is what you're gonna get. He's only going to get bigger and slower as the years go on. He's never had an athletic body and I don't really see him rededicating himself into crafting one like Bruney did over the offseason. If he could be used to get a Cliff Lee, that I would support.
Though I'd also open the debate up to trading Cano too, cause I don't see that work ethic improving and Ramiro Pena is a more dedicated fielder.

If George wanted to issue statements he would have had plenty to say after going 0-8 against the Sox. I agree with both Mikes. I used to argue with other baseball fans that it was the Yankees right to use their resources to better the team. Though now I kind of agree with Lupica for the first time in my life. If the Yankees feel they need Halladay after spending $250 mill on pitching over the winter then the problem is not the players you already have, it's an organizational issue then about not getting the most out of what on paper is pretty damn good. The fault with that lies with the GM, manager, and the coaching staff.

The team responding whenever Girardi gets tossed should tell you something, Pena manages better under pressure than him. Seeing them play the Angels showed that the line up can fight back. Girardi and Eiland seeme to be have a bad effect on the pitching in these big games.

The only thing I can think of is lack of someone in the organization who can actually help young pitchers work out of things like this. If you notice it's really only the veteran pitchers(who can self coach at this point) who have righted themselves. Hughes instantly became consistent when he went to the bull pen, but everyone knows Mariano helps the young guys in the pen to sort their stuff out and mentors them. I think this points to an ineffective starting pitching coach. Dave Eiland has to start really being looked at because it does not look like he knows what he's doing.

I have no problem with the fan having to use the bathroom. I wouldn't get up to go the bathroom because I feel it's in poor taste at that moment to start moving around, but the fan shouldn't be forced to stand there if he has to go. This game highlighted the difference between Cano and Pedroia. Pedroia has nowhere near the natural gifts of Cano but he plays harder than anyone on the roster to prove he belongs in baseball. Cano just gets by on god given talent and does nothing to enhance it with real work. If Cano actually gave a shit he would be the best 2nd baseman in baseball.

I feel Girardi should not have been hired in the first place. He went from managing the Marlins to the Yankees. He does not have the experience to manage a top baseball team. His decisions on coaches to his personnel all scream inexperience. This is too big a job for only one year of managing experience prior to this.
Harlem is absolutely right. I've pointed out before that the Marlins got real healthy after Girardi was gone. I also remember the pot shots he took, it looked a lot like campaigning from the booth knowing that Torre was a dead man walking, which really makes me question his character. Torre went out of his way to shield Girardi from heavy criticism as a player when Mike Stanley was traded for him. All the pre bandwagoners remember how much we loved Stanley his first time around with the Yanks.

Posada is at the age where he should be gradually phased into another position or DH, but there's nowhere to putt him. This is the first year where it's become a glaring problem. Torre and his coaches may have done a better job of reigning Posada in and finding a harmonious balance between him and the pitchers.
This may be an example of what little managing is really going on and the fact that the team really sorts itself.

I think it comes down to coaching. Francona is definitely a better manager and his staff actually coaches. The Yanks performance over the last month has really just been talent based, with a line up where everyone got hot at the same time, and self coaching veteran pitchers, who've had the experience to work themselves out of a funk. The Red Sox come into these games coached and prepared to win. The Yanks don't because their coaching staff is largely clueless and this team sorts itself.

Next year I think a pretty potent outfield would be Gardner in left, Jackson in center, and Melky in right. This gives the yankees two very good defensive fielders with arms in center and right and Gardner should be able to hit the cuttoff in left.

1)Joe Girardi for over managing and pulling Cano, leaving Nick Swisher in this line up, and knowing next to nothing about selecting a bullpen.
2) Nick Swisher, your antics are no longer amusing when you can't simply do your job like maybe catch a ball and make a play and hit decent pitches for singles instead of killing rallies with bad Giambi impressions.

Take a look at what Damon said during the off season. He was one of the most vocally critical of Giradi's distant style of managing and his disregard for the opinions of veterans, whom he had no control over. Greg I know exactly what it is, it's Girardi's aura. It causes injuries to any team he manages. He's a baseball vampire and he needs to be stopped!
Seriously I don't know, but when this problem follows the manager to two different teams then you have to look at the manager. Is it a coincidence that the Marlins, especially the pitchers got healthier after he was gone?

At some point Dave Eiland has to start answering question about what he actually does with this pitching staff. Is there anyone actually managing this team? This is like watching a sandlot team that runs itself, most days are absolutely terrible and then occasionally they have their day, but throughout it all it's like watching kids playing with no one coaching or managing.

Torre gets a team to the playoffs for 13 years in a row and he's a bum? Please tell me who did a better job shielding his teams from Steinbrenner so they could win? Bobby Cox had a pitching staff and a mix of youth and quality blue collar talent comparable to the Yanks back then and he couldn't even win it all more than once in 14 playoff appearences.

They hate him because he only brought consistency to an organization that was a zoo from the 70's through the mid 90's and only won four rings in five years when the Yanks should've won every year. Torre didn't reinforce their entitlement to a parade every year after jumping on the mid 90's band wagon, when old school fans didn't even expect 96 to ever happen. That's why they hate him.

Girardi doesn't have a complete team but he's still lost a bunch of games by simply over managing. Even with what he has I have not seen any of the kind of baseball he's promised. He's a poor evaluator of talent and his coaching choices suck. I think Joe has been given a longer leash from fans and the media than the man he replaced without haveing to show half the competency or any sort of accomplishment.
Now do I think he should go, yes but not just for the reasons above but for the shock it would send to the players that no one is safe and this team is not the Buena Vista Social Club of the AL East.

No Mike you are not wrong, the Marlins got real healthy all of a sudden after Girardi was booted. Players seem to drop like flies around him.
Besides that I don't think(With the exception of Pena) any of Girardi's coaches really know how to prepare or train Major League athletes. They may have been great minor league developers but they have no skills that translate on the major league level.

The point I'm making is that A-Rod has had a very big hand in the downward spiral his life has taken. Here's my gripes Greg,

The fact that Joe himself is clueless at situational managing and really does not have the experience to be managing a top AL team whether it be the Yankees, Angels, or Red Sox. He should of been learning on the job with a team like the Royals. His coaching staff choices read off like an internship in major league coaching. At least Torre was smart enough to surround himself with coaches that may not have been great managers in their own right but were sharper baseball minds than he was, and he listened to them.

The pitching coach should not be allowed within 1000 ft of major league pitching. I don't care what progress he may have made with the young arms. I have seen non of it translate on the major league level proving his inability to coach major league pitcher or understand the major league game.

The third base coach should just be called" Designated Fan". He gets paid to watch the game from the best spot in the house while doing nothing.

I exempt the first base coach because obviously they went, dug up, and reanimated Casey Stengel, but don't quite trust zombies to actively manage. I will not speak ill of the deceased.

I agree with Bruce. The Rays looked like a baseball team while the Yanks really did look like what they are accused of being, a collection of stars who happen to be a baseball team with no chemistry. I'd start worrying about whether Wang can still pitch because he's had nothing on his sinker since the playoffs in 07 and we didn't see him last year because of the injury. I'd also start worrying that this team isn't as stacked as we thought and that the bench is pretty weak if this is what happens without Tex or Arod.

The weird thing is it felt too much like Yankee Stadium, like 50's era. It was awesome and weird at the strange time like I was watching a game in a time warp, especially with those camera angles and then seeing shots of the frieze throughout the game. Girardi inherited pretty much the same team Torre managed for the previous three years and couldn't even crack 90 wins, while Torre at least made the playoffs with obviously flawed teams. Also Torre had to deal with just as many injuries as Girardi did in 07, starting at least 14 different pitchers for the 07 season. So managing really isn't that over rated.

No he's not, he manages so as not to be fired, not to win. He has a coaching staff, with the exception of Pena, of stooges with no winning experience, so as not to be shown up instead of coaches who develop players. Couples for "Who's your baby's daddy?" on Morry have better communication skills than he has with his own players. He be a good manager someday but managing the Yankees is not the job for him right now.

A-Rod has been given enough by this game and has repaid it with selfishness and commitment only to himself and his numbers, not contributing to winning. Fans don't owe him anything.

With that said though, didn't the Yankees used to be a team that prided itself on giving second chances with an owner who took pride in watching someone succeed with his second chance.
I'm not sure because of his attitude if A-Rod even deserves ones of these chances or if he's really even sorry.
Though I still feel weird about just jumping on the whole kick him out the door and banish him band wagon, when he's obvious got serious problems.

I'm not excusing A-Rod and I think he's getting what he deserves, but the Yankees on a human level might need to at least try to reach him and put him on the road to righting himself instead of just looking to throw him out with bath water.

No, players should absolutely not be making excuses publicly for this, but the organization needs to internally try to solve this guys pyschological problems as person not just a ball player, much like a player with a substance abuse problem.

I think people need to stop being baited by the Daily News and Post about this book. I'm half way through and I'm finding this book to be much more than what the New York media is portraying it to be. The Alex and Mussina stuff is so minute in relation to the whole context of the book that this shouldn't be an issue any more. It seems to be more of a historical perspective of the how the old school culture of baseball completely changed around the Yankees from the late 90's into the new millenium, from a team and manager's perspective.

Greg, I agree with you. There was nothing wrong with the old stadium. The sight lines were great, even the upper tiers at the bottom of the upper deck loomed over the field intimidating visiting players by the fans closeness to the field. During less than capacity games you could always move down for a closer view. Now you have a caste system stadium, rich stay with the riche, poor are locked away in the upper deck, where the untouchables stay penned in their section where the rich won't have to have contact with them.

I was never really that impressed with Lowe anyway, but do you think there may be a perception among good players that the Yankees have no real direction or organizational leadership now? Maybe even the coaching staff may be a turn off to players? Remember there used to be a time when players like Roberto Alomar would say their one regret was never getting to play for George or the Yankees. Maybe without his presence there, the luster is gone? Maybe it's not having a veteran figure who manages people well like Torre? The problem goes beyond whether Bowa wants it. Can he thrive on a staff of a control freak manager? Girardi may start becoming paranoid about his own job being surrounded by more qualified candidates, especially if the Yankees overhaul the rest of the staff. I'm starting to believe this is why he picked coaches with even less experience or qualifications than he had, so that he wouldn't be shown up and so that no one on his staff could emerge as a possible replacement candidate.

The problem with either Davey Johnson or Bowa is that they are already over qualified to be bench coaches and are far more qualified than Girardi to Manage. Girardi will spend the entire season managing for his job instead of actually doing it. It's already apparent that he has a bit of a paranoid side that affects his decision making abilities as seen with his lack of communication with players, his freezing out of Tony Pena, and his constant lies to the media(which have already destroyed his relationship with key veterans).

That would make sense and actually be a proactive move to building a sound franchise. That's putting a little to much faith in the current group that runs the Yankees and confusing them with the group that ran them a generation ago and actually functioned with common sense.

Greg, that's just it I'm asking what did they do at all? I saw a team go through a season on auto. I saw no ability to reach players and mentally prepare them for games. With the exception of Mussina, the pitching was disappointing and I'm including the injuries which I attribute to bad coaching and training approaches which I blame Eiland and Girardi for. I think Thompson and Eisland went through a season fumbling their way around a job that they weren't ready for. As is the case with Girardi I feel that it was too much to soon for these guys to be coaching on the Yankees staff without gaining experience elsewhere.

I agree with this as well. Joe may not be happy with this but he has no one to really blame but himself for the choices he made and the misrepresentation of the job he was going to do when he interviewed for the job. I'm still waiting for hit and run ball.

I would take Manny for the DH and trade Cano and sign Hudson. Signing CC or Burnett and throwing bags of cash around is simply being reactionary to not signing Santan. Just like Pavano, Wright, and Kevin Brown were reactionary to not getting Beckett and the Sox getting Schilling on the sly. The Yankees need to start being proactive again in their pitching choices not just responding to all the right pitching moves Boston has made. Our pitching staff used to be something that supplemented an already fundamentally sound baseball team, not just a big expensive band aid slapped on to cover the festering wounds of bad, expensive roster choices.

It is becoming clear that no matter how nice of a guy Joe may be or how much potential he has to be a good manager someday, that this job was too much too soon for his lack of experience. If it is true that he's forcing Pena out then there is a real problem because he is the only coach there with real experience coaching under the pressure of coaching in this city. Perhaps letting him name all his own coaches to replace Torre's departing guys was also a mistake and some more veteran types should have been place on his staff.

Finally someone has taken notice that Joe sold the Yankees a bill of goods with all his talk about hit and run ball and discipline during his interview. I'm sorry Gary, normally you're on point, but none of these coaches except for Pena, have shown any ability to focus players at the major league level. As far as feeling your way around, this is not an internship in major league managing, this is the New York Yankees, this is not learn as you go with a 200 million dollar payroll.

I'm sorry but if your own players can't even circle the wagons and stick up for you then the blame should fall on the manger and maybe he should be replaced with someone who commands a bit more authority and has more experience. Lupica does make a point, Joe Torre's head would have rolled already if this happened on his watch. If a manager had to manage for his job year after year, when he's won 4 world series and 12 strait post seasons, why does Giradi get slack. Buck didn't even after making the playoffs in 95.

Tony Pena is the only one who should keep his job. Rob Thompson collects a pay check for standing next to Joe with his arms folded. There was no reason to replace Guidry if you were going to replace him with Eiland. I really don't see how Eiland has prepared any pitcher in his charge for the major league level.

Gee maybe it's time to consider the fact that maybe Joe Girardi sold the Yankees a bill of goods when he was interviewed for the job. I remember being promised hit and run ball, aggressive base running, plate discipline, benchings for non performance and getting in players faces. Pitchers and players dropping like flys after under performing, just like what got him fired in Florida. Oh yeah and his choice of coaches.... Dave Eiland only won five games his whole career, this is who you entrust turning young pitching into winners? Bobby Mitchum?!!!! And I still can't find any long time Yankee fan who even knows who the bench coach is!

Politische Ansichten unterliegen doch schon immer den jeweils gegebenen Bedingungen( Wahlen, Finanzkriese, Terror...). Für mich war die Aufstockung der Abwrackprämie keine Überraschung, wenn man betrachtet das jeder 7. Arbeitnehmer in Deutschland in der Automobilindustrie beschäftigt ist und wir ja Superwahljahr haben, hmmm... Die Finanzierung der Abwrackprämie ist doch über die Mehreinnahmen aus der MWST darstellbar. Und natürlich darf man den Einfluss der Lobbyisten auf die Politik nicht unterschätzen. Aller Kritik zum trotz halte ich es für ein sinnvolles Instrument. Die Frage sei noch erlaubt, wo stände Deutschland heute ohne Abwrackprämie ????? PS: jeder 7. Arbeitnehmer...

Die Information hat mich schon am Wochenende auf kurzem Wege erreicht. Aber mal ernsthaft, es ist wirklich ratsam zu zweit zu laufen, um den oben beschriebenen inneren Schweinehund den dicken Daumen zu zeigen. Verabredungen zum laufen sind eben verbindlich und müssen eingehalten werden:-)Wir reden hier zum Anfang von ca. einer halben Stunde, zwei drei mal pro Woche. Dann sukzessive Steigerung auf eine Stunde. Wer gesund leben und alt werden möchte, muß leider Sport treiben:-( Laufen ist meiner Meinung nach dafür das richtige mittel, mit wenig Zeitauswand die größten Erfolge zu erziehlen. Die Frage ist also nicht ob, sondern wann wir beginnen. Ich hoffe auf einen zeitnahen Terminvorschlag deiner seits.

Begeisterung macht sich breit...deine Aktivität ist überwiegend positiv zu beurteilen. Aber...deine Einstellung zur körperlichen betätigung, hmmm... daran muß gearbeitet werden. Ich habe die Erfahrung gemacht, das es sinnvoll ist zu zweit zu laufen. Ich würde mich auf diesem wege anbieten, mit dir zu laufen:-)Natürlich zeitnah und nicht erst nächstes Jahr.
Du hast den ersten Schritt getan, bleib drann !!! PS: vom Motorrad fahren nimmt man nicht ab :-)

Ich denke nicht das es an der Werbung gelegen hat. Pro7 hat meiner Meinung nach das Internet zu stark unterschätzt. Als die vierte Staffel bei Pro7 startete, lief bereits die fünfte in den USA. Wer wollte konnte sich die vierte auch schon ein Jahr vorher im Lifestream anschauen bzw. gerippte Folgen aus dem Inet ziehen (sogar mit deutschen Untertiteln). Auch auf DVD war die vierte Staffel bereits erhältlich bevor sie bei Pro7 überhaupt ausgetrahlt wurde.

Heftig...ich mein vieles war ja klar, dass es ausn Computer stammt wie der Ajira-Crash, oder die Orchid-Station, aber dass Szenen wie die, als Sawyer und Locke zum Lichtstrahl schauen auch vor einem Blue-Screen aufgenommen sind hätte ich nicht gedacht (hätte nur gedacht, dass der Lichtstrahl hinzugefügt wurden ist) oder dass ganze "Inselteile" hinzugefügt werden. Und der Swan-Schacht, okay ist logisch dass die da kein 100m tiefen Schacht haben xD, aber es sieht wirklich täuschend echt aus..

Nein, Nein, ich bin ja auch für Antworten. Aber in 23 Folgen kann man das auch ein wenig breiter erzählen. Ich mein aber jetzt nicht sinnlose "Füll-Folgen", sondern schon Story-relevantes.

Bezüglich der Synchro haste schon recht. Für den deutschen Zuschauer ist das schon relevant, letzlich für die, die Lost aber komplett auf deutsch sehen aber auch reichlich irrelevant, weil kleine Übersetzungsfehler/-abweichungen diesem gar nicht auffallen.

Diesen Vergleich können ja nur wir "Lost-Junkies" ziehen, weil wir die Folge auf Englisch sehen. Das heißt, für uns kann das ja wurscht sein.

Für die generelle Synchro von Lost (und anderen Serien) ist das aber schon richtig was du sagst.

und: "gefühlt" länger geht es ja trotzdem, weil dann eine Woche Verschiebung nach hinten. ;-)

So schlimm ist das echt nicht. So geht es gefühlt länger.

17 Folgen sind eh zu wenig für eine Staffel einer Serie. Ich find das eher schade, so wird eigentlich zuletzt auch wenig Spannung aufgebaut.

Man wartet eigentlich nur noch auf die Auflösung. Der dramaturgische Höhepunkt ist eigentlich ziemlich erreicht. Es folgen im Moment viele (wenn auch hohe) retardierende Momente.

@ Benny: Aber irgendwie scheint diese Zeitreise der Insel ja sehr willkürlich zu sein (hat Ben ja glaube ich auch selbst gesagt). Also wäre die Wahrscheinlichkeit, das die Insel bei einem erneuten Verschieben in die Gegenwart der anderen Losties kommt, doch sehr gering. Oder es ist einfach destiny xP...naja we will see..

Als ich das eine Video von Damon gesehen habe (kA mehr welche Nummer)da wurde mir das mit den unterschiedlichen Zeiten erst einmal bewusst! Die Storyline auf der Insel setzt ja sofort dort an als die Insel verschwunden ist, und die Storyline von Jack und Co. fängt ja 3 Jahre später an. Also haben die Losties auf der Insel ein 3 Jahres Rückstand den man in der Story aufholen muss, oder Zeit ist auf der Insel total unbedeutend, sodass die Losties einfach so wieder auf die Insel abstürzen (?) können und die unterschiedlichene "Zeiten" wieder zu einer verschmelzen. Ich hoff, dass jm mich verstecht =)

We already have variable fairs, if you go to braintree, and some other stops @ that end of the redline they charge you again (or at least they used to)

It requires a massive upgrade so that all of the turnstyles accept tickets as the rider leaves… this would cost a fortune to implement.. not that im against the idea, i just don’t think it would work

The DC fare system is designed that way because it exists in multiple states, so the fares have to be divided based on usage
