Thanks for the advice everyone. I'll be checking those out. I love OpenOffice, but it's a bit more robust than what I'm looking for in a text editor.

James - Glad you like the blog. Just send the ebook my way when you're ready. =)

Brooks - I'm a fan of moderate days as well. I tend to forget that until it's very hot or very snowy, though. =)

Merry Christmas to you, too!

in Best Domain Registrar for Registering a Single Dot Com? on Pajama Professional
Thanks everyone.

Ross, that's the feeling I got about Traffic Blazer especially since it comes in three types. I imagine the cheapest version is just a teaser to get people to upgrade.

GoDaddy is fine, but I'd like to find a smaller host simply because I hate GoDaddy's customer service. I register nearly all my domain names at a different site from where I host them. So I think it's time try out Hover. Ross, I don't mind shameless plugs if it's about a good service. =) This site is all about sharing resources.

Thanks,
Sara

Mikael,

Right. I actually have most of my domains registered in different places than where I host so that's no problem. I'll go check out Name Cheap.

Thanks!

Experiments in Cyberspace: you may be onto something there. I wore braces for five years so I suppose I am a bit OCD about my teeth. I guess it's running over into my blog as well. LOL! =)

in Team Work Pays on Pajama Professional
Hi guys!

For anyone who had trouble "paying" me through AlertPay I fixed the problem. Their instructions regarding their various plans sure are hazy, aren't they? I finally figured out that I needed to upgrade my account which doesn't really mean anything except that I agree to take payments and pay a fee to do so.

Strange.

Anyway, anyone who had trouble should be able to get set up now.

Thanks for letting me know it wasn't working!

Kouji - great advice. Especially adding "view it" to include videos.

Mindy - good point. it is a bit redundant to point out that it is at their convenience. And I like the idea of comparing it to a radio-type program.

Thanks guys, your ebooks are on the way.

in Two Ways to Not Build a List on Pajama Professional
Forrest - Sorry I missed your comment before. I'm not offended at all. You are absolutely right that lists are generally meant to sell. The first thing I remember being told when I started internet marketing was "the money is in the list." But I hate the idea of flooding people with sales emails.

That was exactly the type of feedback I was looking for. I know lists really work for some people, but I hate being hype-y. Also, I stick to my guns when I say i won't recommend something if I haven't tried (unless I state that I haven't) so it could get pretty expensive for me if I was sending out new offers every other day!

I'm signed up to TONS of lists, but more to study the sales pitches than to learn about the products. Every once in awhile I'll purchase, but I hate MLM type stuff. I think selling people a product that tells you to sell other people a product when the product itself is simply the selling is the most asinine circle of bullsh!t ever.

So, yeah, no offense taken if you don't want to join my list. I'll just spam your blog comments with MLM offers. Kidding! LOL.

Darryl - I know what you mean. I am a bit addicted to free stuff myself. That's why I like to give stuff away here.

Rod - I mentioned aWeber in the article and that's really the only mailing list service I would recommend. It's stable, inexpensive and get the job done.

I fixed the link on the download page, thanks for the heads up. I sent you an email with the download page link as well as a link directly to the file. Please let me know if you have any problems.

in High PR Link Directory List on Pajama Professional
Thanks for all the great feedback guys! I think I will put it on a separate page because it is bound to grow and would make a better resource elsewhere. Also, I don't want my page load to take any longer than it already does.

As for the page ranks being incorrect, I will double-check them. I got them from the distribution tool I am using (and going to give away to you guys after I test it a bit more) so they might be a bit out of date. I'll run them through a trustworthy PR checker before I publish the links page.

Thanks again for all the great feedback. You rock!

Cod5,

Thanks for the compliment on the site, but I can't take credit. Though I do design most of my sites on my own, this particular design was done by Unique Blog Designs

They do just beautiful work!

in Questions about Desktop PCs, PDFs with Hyperlinks and iPod Transfer on Pajama Professional
Michelle -

I guess my budget is somewhere between $300 and $500. I'd like to stick to the lower end, but if I find a really great deal with some bells and whistles (obviously refurbished), I might go up as far as five.

No, I don't need a monitor. I have all the peripherals, just need the PC itself.

Thanks,

in Freedom from the 9 to 5 on Pajama Professional
Thank you everyone for the great comments.

Cenay: I'm not going to paint myself into any corners. It would be less than smart for me to completely ignore my database and other design skills, especially since my business will be completely online based. So, yeah, when you're on the feast side, definitely contact me. Getting things moving is big challenge. =)

Thanks for the support, everyone.

Vinny - I think you're absolutely right. I'm not sure I would have made the jump on my own, but it sure was a great time to be forced to focus solely on my online projects or go get another 9 to 5. =) Your support means a lot!

Sasha,

Glad I could help. You must be around the same age as me because I'm so geek-ishly excited about this new 90210. I seriously loved that show. I didn't know both Shannen and Jennie G. were going to be on the new one. Every once in awhile I catch Jennie Garth in a Lifetime movie and I think that she could never be anyone to me but Kelly Taylor. LOL!

Thanks for the great comments everyone. I have always hated these types of interview questions, but I really find them useful when considering going out completely on my own.

Mikael - Your blog is quite interesting - I like the varied topics and your strong opinions. Either use my contact form, send me an email or maybe we can hook up on twitter (i'm sarach) and we can discuss the possibility of me guest blogging. I'd be interested to see what sort of content you'd like me to contribute. =)

Forrest,

That's just because they don't understand how rarely we get 80 and 90 degree weather here in the Puget Sound. I swear, when it gets as nice as it's been the past week it feels wrong to have to do anything but hang out in the sunshine. Just because it's so rare to have such gorgeous weather here. =)

I guess I'll just have to get an umbrella and make sure the laptop stays charged if this weather is going to stick around any longer.

in Call to Action : Protest Against Whale Slaughter on Pajama Professional
You guys are all so awesome! I can't believe the great response this post has received. I rarely post anything unrelated to making money online, but every once in awhile something like this really grabs hold of me and this is the biggest audience I have access to.

I am so happy to hear that so many of you are animal lovers and feel the same way I do about stuff like this. When it comes to hunting for survival like Anne mentioned, I can understand the reasoning. However, blatant brutality is never okay and I hope the power of the blogosphere can make a difference here.

Thanks again for all your great comments and support - I don't know Les, but I'd also like to thank him for bringing this to my attention.

in 10 Great Search Engine Optimization Articles on Pajama Professional
Hi Guys!

Glad you liked my picks. There's just so many expensive ebooks out there that don't even touch on half the stuff these guys talk about for free. I thought it was important to come up with a list - even if just saved a couple of people from wasting their money.

Thanks,

in Always Have a Spare Key or Why I Should Not Travel on Pajama Professional
Thanks for all the comments everyone! I bought a hide-a-key and will be making duplicate keys this weekend. I think planting them all around is a great idea! =)

Forrest: I don't usually talk politics here, but boy am I not a bit impressed by Scott McClellan. Always thought he was slimy. I'm definitely not a Bush fan, but acting as though he's trying to help America and doesn't have any ulterior motives (money, a fresh career with a new cabinet, etc) is just plan bullsh!t. He tries to come off as all sweet and sincere and you know the minute the cameras are off he's all "Give me my paycheck, beeyotches!" =) It's just gross.

Kevin: Dad will definitely be getting the hook-up. He's a hero, for sure. =)

Thanks again for the fun comments guys!
