Andrew, I want you to know that I, indeed, did turn off that Auto Flickr tweet feature a long time ago, primarily because of the Tweetback from my Tweeps! :)

in Why Not MySpace? on Love. The Cool
I really think that MySpace is still a "website for the rest of us" because there are so many bands that still don't care that much about blogging or that sort of thing -- and many folks don't even treat MySpace like a social network so much as a rich platform for content, media, schedules, gigs, videos, music, and also a makeshift version of a mailing list. And, all of this is global, too:

in Wordpress Direct Is Like Those Hollow Books In A Show Off, Pretend Library on Love. The Cool
Fascinating and so dodgy -- this is called "autoblogging" or "reblogging" and is considered the lowest of the low -- but I can totally see how this will take off and I wonder how long it will be before Google figure out how to ban its content.

When I said, "but then again you have this sort of desperate, hungry, life-affirming and then life-destroying passion, fucking, and desire," I didn't mean you, MMM! Golly, gee! No! I meant YOU, plural! I can totally how it seems like I am a BIGGER dick than I am!

in The Lover (1992) on Love. The Cool
Mind you, I would say that the brother of this novel and the movie could very well be "The Unbearable Lightness of Being" (I know you love this novel, MMM) but then again you have this sort of desperate, hungry, life-affirming and then life-destroying passion, fucking, and desire... how much of this is Romance? I don't know, but how much of this is Human and Essential Food? 100%

in The Lover (1992) on Love. The Cool
Well, I don't know what version of "The Lover," originally written by Marquerite Duras, be it the book or the film, but this movie is not Romantic so much as erotic and desperate and hungry -- more about fucking than making love. It is visceral and passionate, yes, and there may very well be love, as well, but I recommend you read the book, surely, because it is also a hyper-passionate story -- and I also recommend "The War," her memoir.
Mind you, I do think there should be a lot of the sort of the passion and eroticism in Romantic love, to be sure!

in Bathroom For Rent In East Village on Love. The Cool
How the heck is this expected to work?
"My bathroom is large. You can easily put a twin air mattress in there. I only ask that when I need to use the bathroom, you or your air mattress are not in it."
I can see this happening:
"Local woman missing, current residents of her apartment have not seen her in weeks."

As a former East Villager, I'd say she's going to get mostly drug addicts interested. It's sad, really, I feel like sending her money.

in JPG Magazine Over on Love. The Cool
I heard about JPG years ago, when they launched, and never heard anything from them since -- and I am a photographer (well, I was, back in the day) -- and I am online ALL the time. I mean, nobody ever sent me a link to JPG or every suggested it to me -- ever -- since the first article upon launch. That's the reason, right?

in 2008/08/12/summermash-nyc-recap/ on Mashable - The Social Media Guide
Well, I attended the event and loved it! I have to admit that the line was long, but like all of these events, the line is always an bloody excellent way to meet people you might not normally stumble into. Guess who was right behind me in line? The awesome @juliaroy -- I had never met her before. What an hour outdoors allows you to do is to pre-meet people! I had a laugh in line but once I got into the party, it was mayhem -- in a good way as I has loads of fun, but it wasn't easy to find folks or make your way around. So, if you hear that a party full of people you want to meet anyway has a line around the block, don't worry your pretty little head because those are all of the people you want to get into the club to be with anyway -- the people you're in line with! Bonus!

in ooVoo Taking On Skype? on Mashable - The Social Media Guide
Wow, that is surely a pretty interesting comment stream. Suffice it to say, the Mac version is already around -- check out http://oovoomac.smnr.us -- and I need to remind you that the video conferencing is 5 + yourself, so six. I am here on behalf of ooVoo and just want to make sure this is all straight. Anyway, if any of you guys have any questions, just let me know.
Web Workers Daily has a great post on this:
"You can also record and send video messages, even to recipients who are not ooVoo users. In a nice touch, they’ve leveraged their infrastructure for this to allow ooVoo to serve as a general file sending mechanism: up to 20 files at a time, each up to 25MB, which is nice if you’re stuck with email that throttles you down to unreasonably small attachment sizes. There are various other bells and whistles like click-to-call “ooVoo Me†links for your blog and importing contacts from your address book, but the video conferencing and video mail features are the clear core."

It it obviously in Skype's space but I think their goals as well as their technologies are completely diff.

I am on an assignment to help a Huge Financial Services Firm’s Innovations Guru realize his amazing vision of info-sharing content through his company using attention data. Tristan Roy and Bronwen Clune both recommended I meet Chris Saad of Particls. I installed it and didn’t grok it right away. This morning, I saw Chris on Skype and he removed the scales from my eyes.
I have yet to check out Engagd yet but he sent me some info and told me not to say anything until the big dogs did their blogging. I am going to check it out now…

You may look like an idiot and talk like an idiot but don't let that fool you. You really are an idiot.
Your mind is so open - so open that ideas simply pass through it.
You're the stupid person's idea of a clever person.
Robert Scoble: The only genius with an IQ of 60.
Robert, are you always this stupid or are you making a special effort today?
Brains aren't everything. In fact in your case they're nothing
Don't let you mind wander - it's far too small to be let out on its own
I don't know what makes you so dumb but it really works
