in Powerset Launches. Verdict: Meh. on 20bits
Wow, great analysis!
What piqued me the most about this launch was how unexciting the demo video was. I'm sure there's some amazing software at work here...it's just not blatantly apparent (from the video or casual use).
Thanks for writing,
Ethan

in Extending the Life of Social Media Marketing Beyond Flight Dates on Ignite Social Media
I believe pretty strongly that the "campaign" paradigm is the biggest obstacle to better marketing.
Brian Haven (a Forrester analyst) has some great thoughts on this here:
"With attention spans short, brief campaigns are relegated to appearing as noise. To effectively communicate the merits of a brand, product, or service, communication efforts need to transcend many short term experiences."

I believe that until the "client"/brand execs reformulate the time horizon of their execution/measurement, the huge upside of pervasive/perpetual interactive marketing will be lost on them.

There is a consultant in LA named Mike Bonifer who has a brilliant analysis of what to learn from Improv Everywhere:
"They understand instinctively how and why networks form. They know that with improvisation, a group can focus on the objective and be productive with very little planning and zero expectations as to outcomes."
