I am NO fan of the ex-rapist in chief, but he replied fairly well to a distempered Obama supporter there as far as I am concerned.

Obama surrounds himself with people who despise this country. As close associates he has murderers (Dohrn), terrorists (Ayres), racists (Wright), and communists(Graham-Felsen).

Not to nitpick, but England doesn't have a population of 60 million--the whole of the UK, yes, might approach 60 million, but I believe that England's population is more like 35-40 million. Thus, the talent pool is more limited than it would seem. Imagine if Germany were to field separate teams from Bavaria, Saxony, etc.--they'd probably only have won one World Cup too.

As for this article, it does not reflect anything surprising to me. I have found, (through my admittadly unscientific studies,) that, in general, Jews do hate bush & what he's putting our country through, & also will do whatever is necessary (with the exception of giving up the City of David, which I believe to be a bit less popular than is even stated in this article, but that's neither here nor there...) I was intrigued by your post -- so checked my old Illinois Blue Books.

I noticed that back in 1993-94 edition (pg 320) Lavin was listed as Pat Quinn's Director of Economic Development as Jack Lavin. Not John, Jack.

Note that this was the same year Blagojevich was elected to his first ever political office.

I don't know who else was on the list ahead of him, but I'm guessing there weren't many other Democrats in the state with executive level government experience in economic development in line for the job.

I'm sure his other connections -- with both Rezko and Lt. Gov Quinn -- helped him tremendously. But to suggest he wasn't qualified is just silly.

What these first few posters fail to realize is that leaders like Mike Madigan have a long list of friends to call on -- Minions -- who got their start learning the profession of Illinois politics on his staff in some form. I count myself among them, and we are proud of having had the experience.

After you leave his staff, when you get a call asking to volunteer you do it because you want to and because you want to and because you are loyal, and because you believe in the cause.

As to Randall Sherman's point about Madigan's legacy only being the ability to get 60 votes, I ask you...what's your point?

Name another legislative leader at any level whose legacy isn't defined on their ability to marshall votes when needed to pass legislation? That's what they do...and Madigan's legacy is that he is, indisputably, one of the very best there has ever been at commanding a legislatrive chamber.

Mangieri is the slated party candidate. SEIU is the most important, Democratic leaning group to get because of their membership and ability to provide field organization structure.

Take Jesse's life story -- subtract everything related to politics -- and its still worthy of biography.

Certainly, he's accomplished more (again, not even talking about the politics) then most of us could ever hope to do.

The fact that he took over a corrupt office, is running it effectively, and is the most popular politician in the state of Illinois ain't no small feat either.

dylan's distortions are quite amusing. the truth is that Congressman Kirk's membership on the Appropriations Committee enabled him to secure $43 million to open up a North Chicago veterans hospital and improve the Great Lakes Naval Training Center. These facts show Kirk's committment to improving the business communities of Waukegan and North Chicago. Any concerned and educated citizen who has access to the Chicago Tribune would have discovered this information by now.

let's just look at a tiny piece of this reply---managed care for medicaid recipients---the administration has decreased the size of the managed care program signicantly and now has aprogram called pccm's ---the program is a sham---it doesnt' provide any means for doctors to actually manage care---puts no oversight or controls on specialist referrals or hospital stays---and simply gives doctors a management fee--and though the program supposedly requires things like 24 hour availability from physicians--the department is ignoring---or"delaying" those things which might make the program have some effect---most other states have real managed care programs which mandate coverage and do---to some extent --- control rising costs.

The Attorney General is right, the Gov's counsel is wrong. He seizes on a federal appeals court decision arising out of Virginia to argue that CMS cannot lawfully follow its own administrative rule that makes these records public information. The federal appellate case concerned federal FOIA law, not this state's FOIA law or the CMS rule. To get around that problem, he argues that because the Illinois FOIA law is "based" on the federal law, the appellate case governs. That is only half true. Yes the Illinois FOIA is modeled on the federal FOIA law, but that does not make federal decisions interpreting the federal law controlling. To compound the wrongheadedness of his position, CMS says that future lists will be released because they will include a notice to applicants of the potential for release. Such a notice adds nothing new because the current, legally-adopted administrative rule gives notice to the world that these lists are public. No further notice is needed. This is nothing more than legal stonewalling by the Gov's counsel for political reasons, and an affront to the role of Attorney General as the state's legal officer.

Speaking of I.D.O.T., why is that agency getting a pass on its internal failure to make sure that the i's were dotted and the t's were all crossed on the AMTRAK deal to run more trains downstate? They are getting away with letting the blame be placed on the railroad by AMTRAK. But I.D.O.T. should have made sure everyone was on board before they said the trains would be leaving the stations! Could it be that they have placed incompetents in charge? Pardon the pun.

The group that made the FOIA request for the subpoenas can go to court now and, in the face of the real AG's opinion, how any special assistant AG appointed to make the governor's case can make arguments without a red face is beyond me. The other question to be asked is who will pay the attorney fees that the court will award to the requestor??? They are entitled under the FOIA to fees for being forced to go to court go obtain the release of public records.

I have been working as a general surgeon hospitalist for almost three years now. It is very rewarding in that there are now less non-medical issues with which to deal. I no longer run my own office. The hospital takes care of my billing and scheduling. Malpractice including tail coverage is provided by the hospital as well. My hours are a scheduled shift, known well in advance. The pay is unfortunately significantly less than that of private practice, but I do have a much better quality of life now. I do believe that my patients are happy with the services my group provides. Our care is consistent and there is a surgeon available at the hospital 24 / 7. Hospital efficiency has also improved with the establishment of the surgical hospitalist program. As a rule, surgical hospitalists usually only treat urgent and emergent problems of hospital patients. We do make an exception occasionally to provide care for the uninsured / indigent. We differ from traditional general surgeons in that our office is for short term post operative follow-up only. No new patients are seen.

many years ago a referendum on the question of building a convention center was held---the people of springfield solidly voted it down. so the power eleite went to the legislature and got approval of a convention center and smea through the back door---this has always been about taking care of insiders---and now the proposal is to take local taxpayers money and put it in bill cellini's pocket---while he and his group of taxshelter doctors continue to own the place---it ain't right, folks---and i'll bet you if the u.s. attorney took a look at it he would find that there were profits which could have paid down the debt but that they were all filtered to some management company as fees and the insiders profited while the taxpayers got nothing

Everyone who wants to work can find gainful employment at a living wage, the schools are educating our children well, access to good healthcare is universal, crime is non-existant, the roads are paved, gas is cheap, the environment is clean, utilities and corporations are responsible citizens, and all that remains for our government to do is to resolve those few small things that will make our blessed lives even better - like regulating the color of dog leashes and banning aluminum baseball bats for children! we were at a small gathering around a conference table in october before his last election---he was knowledgable about our issues but he constantly talked about the election---was very worried that he would lose---against jbt---and said a couple of times he didn't know what he would do---i thought it very odd

i want to reinforce budget watcher's point---since medicaid is part grf part federal funds a billion dollar cut of state money would result in a spending cut of 2 billion---they already pay too little too late---we are a low tax state----the truth is we need a real tax increase---time for those with responsibility to tell the public the truth

i think the cut back amendment was a disaster---it magnified leadership's role---eliminatied safe seats, often held by guys who weren't so partisan and who could therefore work for comprimises and avoid gridlock---i think cumulative voting was a great progressive idea---its elimination was the most anti-reform step of my time in illinois public life
