As I've been writing about in all my coverage of this over hyped controversy is the fact that the filmmakers stated that she was on her own during the scenes of rape, there was no one on top of her and she was clothed, editing did the rest.

As for the rest of it, it does sound a little off, but the main reason I won't watch it is that it just sounds too long and boring, not because pressure groups are going mad without ever having seen it.

Oh man, it's absolute genius how they've managed to bring this show back to life.

They've captured the campiness, tongue in cheek factor, cool creatures, and everything else that made the original so great without losing a drop of it.

I was a fan of the old one and I have to admit to being sucked into it straight away and getting those old feelings right back.

If you're looking for decent quality versions I wouldn't touch You Tube...better with something (so I've heard) like Pirate Bay.

Although I don't condone piracy at all.

Yeah, I would have thought Perlman would have made a much better monster, he's certainly got more of a build for it than Jones.

However we've seen what Del Toro can do with practical effects and costumes in his films. Perhaps he's going for a different looking Frankenstein, not the bulky monster we've seen before.

I'm not familiar with Wrightson’s monster, he does look leaner than most of the onscreen versions.

For a moment I thought "Vic commented on his own story? My lord his ego is out of control!" - I didn't think that last bit just thought it would look funny - then I realised that you had other writers onboard!

Kane, I loved that original series. For a while a new film was being talked of, a complete big budget remake. However that never got off the ground either.

The thing is it's a superb story and could really work again. However what does that matter. There's not a visible cult following so the dollar signs aren't out, and it's probably not cheap to get hold of the rights. For Hollywood that means the two main boxes are out the window.

Never mind, we'll see things like Joust and Magnum P.I. first...sigh.

I have to say that I used to think that Michelle Ryan wasn't much of an actress, she was a staple on the UK soap Eastenders, then two things happened, I Want Candy and Jekyll. I was surprised, particularly with Jekyll - which, by the way, is a superb mini-series and I really hope it travels to the US.

I think she'll do just fine, and the coach is most definitely for fine tuning.

Did you hear the rumour that Sackhoff walked off the production and has come back on? I just caught a glimpse, don't know the full story.

Still, I think the whole thing shows promise, but I don't think it'll be in the league of Battlestar Galactica.

I don't think that's a bad award, it does talk about a lot more than marketing. What is bad is "best kiss" and the random choices that seem to get awards.

What was it with the final spear throw in 300 beating all the other fight scenes? I don't get that, and the choices for Best Film?

Yeah, the awards aren't that strong this year and they didn't cause the slightest flurry with me.

Why would Galactus be a cloud and Tim Story still be talking about putting the finishing designs on the character and that fans wouldn't be disappointed?

Call me crazy, but someone is lying there. Either Story knows that fans will be disappointed because he, as the Direcor, is spending ages with a CG team creating something they do everyday, clouds...or

...Glactus is more than a standard CG effect and Story is telling us the truth that we'll see the character and he's really trying to be true to the fanbase for him.

I think it's the latter.

Another interesting point is that Duchovny has been saying this for the last few years "close to a deal", "film due next year", and it never happens.

Actors are always dropping rumours to help their chances of something happening, just to build momentum and hype on a project.

I guess we'll have to wait this week out and see.

Oh lord...I don't know what that makes me then. I like this movie, I really do, and for a lot of the reasons you say you don't.

I love the fact that no one is likable, and that they all have human flaws and pretty nasty traits. Plus that all of them are, in one way or another, out to screw over or use the others.

I'd hardly call Jake a pervert though. His mate says "look at this gorgeous woman through this telescope, she dances topless there every night with her blinds open" you have a drink, and reluctantly and showing embarassment you have a look, and then the next night you're drawn. I think that's more the male drive rather than perverted. The character carries it pretty well.

It's hardly gory though, there's perhaps one scene but it does build tension very well and cuts away from the main action and all you see is some blood and side scenes.

I also can't believe you give so much of the film away in the review! You've basically given away the whole turn of the film.

Yeah, I have the same feeling Vic. When series two started I was right into it and then suddenly I feel cheated.

We've just spent a series with a bunch of people finding out who they were and how they got on the plane. Series two they're doing the whole thing again with a nother bunch of people. I was starting to feel a bit annoyed at that.

Then the continual single episode twist would pop in and they wouldn't address the bigger issues that they'd put out there and just let.

Then...this is the last one that irks me...in the last four or five episodes (we've just finished series two in the UK) characters making idiotic choices. Why did everyone just ignore Sawyer taking the guns and were laughing and joking with him next day? Why did everyone just leave that and go on as normal...there are so many examples.

I'm with you, it's stretching characters too far from their normal beliefs in order to pull out the contrived plot. I wonder if that is why Abrams is back this season to pull it back on track?

Yeah, 10 years is fine, but the prequel series has just been on TV, and they messed it up. I'm going to carry a bitterness from that into the film.

Still, Abrams on Trek, and with huge amount of control...you gotta be hopeful for at least one film.

Well that is true, but it doesn't mean it can't work.

However I think what the problem is really is lack of investment and time in original ideas and allowing talent to pursue those original ideas.

Hollywood has no balls anymore, they are playing the safe option for consistent revenue, not pushing the storytelling to get great films and find big returns. That's too risky.

Vic, I was musing about this and wondered if it might just work. If they threw the Oceans treatment at it. Huge, big star cast (as the original) and modernised it with style and bags of cash...you know, it might just work.

Imagine the story updated like Three Kings with the cast of Oceans Eleven? Surely that's huge entertainment potential?

I'll get the next two days written up this weekend finally. I've been knackered ever since!

The WCS film does look good, and the creatives behind it seemed like they had the right idea of fun and horror.

They did say they have two thirds of the budget needed, but needed more. Here's hoping they do get it.

It is a great film which really does get under your skin surprisingly well. Before you know it you're rooting for the characters and laughing with them at the same time, and suddenly, the competition means something.

I loved it, and I saw it almost a year ago!

I always fake my details on any of these things. Mainly because I'm from another part of the world - yes I don't live in the US, but get this, I still spend money on going to see these movies.

For some insane reason I feel that gives me the right to see their marketing material. I know, what a crazy thought. So I've been faking my details in these for ever. I always just google for some random zip code and make everything else up.

Wow, I linked to your story and the main one at NY Magazine, I didn't carry any image of the call sheet or further details, and I received a strong lawyers letter from Paramount Pictures lawyer telling me that I could be deemed as carrying copyrighted material.

Have you guys heard anything or was it just me?

Okay, so you have had the same issue then. I've kept the links active and I've not gone to the expense of calling them and clearing anything.

I think it stinks on their part. On one hand they are exploiting the internet with leaked footage, etc, and then the next minute they're throwing their toys out of the pram and complaining about letting secrets out.

Another overly protective move from the MPAA. I like the BBFC (British version of the MPAA) because they tend to make much more adult and informed decisions, and aren't so biased to make decisions from the standpoint of "film corrupts children and we're parents" or "us god fearing people have a right to protect you all from yourselves".

I think they forget they are there to classify, not to censor through certification.

Thanks for the heads up, interesting story. You might want to think about renaming the title though, just in case some people haven't seen the first film as yet.

It's strange because a little while the talk was that she would return to the film through flashbacks to the origins of the group, not actually coming back to life. I guess that just didn't work out.
