The young are only invited to the boring parties I managed to go to the 2004 convention in Boston when my girlfriend, 19 at the time, was elected as a delegate.  Boy, was that a drag.  I can see why the campaigns are shunning these young activists since 8 hours of uninspired speeches outside of primetime given by up-and-coming party hacks could drive anyone with even a bit of ADD to try to throw a wrench in the works.  We took turns wearing a statue of liberty costume on the convention floor, and she was one of the few unswayable delegates for Kucinich that year.  No way is Clinton or Obama letting that sort of thing happen in such a delicate situation as is likely this year

To step back from the question of religion for a moment-- what if she had stood up and with apparent approval from the school (ie state sponsorship) wished to thank Coca Cola, its wonderful educational benefits, and admonished everyone in a crowd of Pepsi, Dr Pepper and even a significant minority of Budweiser drinkers that they should switch?  What if the reason she did this was because she not only received a sponsorship from Coke, but was promised an immediate pass to the executive board room with a seat at the right hand of the CEO for adding to the company's market share in this way?

The moral of the story to teachers... The secret to raising CSAP scores is CARING enough.  Obviously, if you are in a failing school, then you don't care enough about your students.  Of course the ability to rewrite a ridiculous curriculum at all is rare and in most districts you're risking your job if administrators find out.  Only a young teacher, in this case one that hasn't even gotten her teaching certificate, can afford to try and really teach students rather than fit into the mandated system.

So, the verdict to other teachers who are struggling to get their students ready for a deeply flawed test within a rigid system of preparation and test-taking, you just need to care more and it will all work out. 

Wow... equal rights? As much as this is an obvious attempt to label abortion as murder, I am more intrigued with the idea of the first fetal age discrimination case, or even the possibility of somebody suing for defamation of character on that well-known pro-life icon's behalf, the huge gross picture of an aborted fetus.

Will politicians now be able to accept contributions in the name of the unborn?  The tax possibilities are amazing if you're able to count the sheer number of dependents (and what's more dependent than a fertilized egg?)  Will there now be privacy concerns with ultrasounds?

a good argument for liberalism I would say that the fact that journalists tend to lean more liberal is an indicator of the validity of the liberal agenda, or at least an invalidation of the conservative movement.  Journalists are often the best informed about pressing current issues and have access to inside information that isn't allowed out to the general public.  If the people who are in the best position to observe the difference between conservatives and liberals are so close to unanimous in their choice of a side to support, I think I would trust them.

Shockingly good reviews from the MSM Considering the widespread kudos that Ritter is getting, I suspect that there may be more going on.  In the long run this may be more helpful in that Ritter is now branded "pro-business" and that may help with his healthcare and energy agenda.  Given some time, Ritter and statehouse Dems may be able to pull off a larger labor bill having sacrificed this important but relatively minor point (Walmart and other favorite targets typically nip organizing efforts in the bud at or before the initial election, not the second election)

Targetting the Rubes? Perhaps Greeley just happens to be a fraud sweet spot and so there's just a whole lot of fraud going on rather than there being a higher reporting rate.  Greeley is a fast growing city with large immigrant and student populations, both are easily targeted for consumer fraud scams (both are also locally vilified for their supposed contributions to the crime rate). 

In addition, even though it is a college town, Greeley has a per capita income of only about $18,000 indicating for me a fairly large wealth disparity.  Greeley's low wages have lured in three large call centers, and depending on the way a credit card fraud is prosecuted, I wouldn't be surprised if the Weld DA has jurisdiction over a number of those sorts of complaints.
