Oh Maria!! I have been exactly where you are. I did, eventually lose the weight (Weight Watchers. no, they're not paying me to shill. It was just the only thing that worked.) But my biggest regret is that I didn't do it sooner. Now that I don't HAVE to shop in the plus-sized stores, i just feel too old for a lot of the cute little clothes I can finally fit. Just don't think that you CAN'T do it. You sound pretty damn determined to me...

Hey Maria! I've been enjoying your comments over at my place, and decided to give you a more thorough checking out today (that sounded kind of pervy. Do I need to take you out to dinner now? I don't know the protocol...). I find you intensely amusing, and believe we may be living parallel lives. Except that you're young and I'm closer to middle age. And you're American and I'm Canadian. And you're African American and I'm not. And you've been published and I haven't. And you grew up in South Central LA and I grew up on the windswept Canadian prairie. But other than that, TOTALLY parallel.
