I am not (and have not been) a fan for CJ for quite some years now. I had done well over 7 figures with the company as an affiliate for several years, then I stopped using them for a while and they had deleted my account due to 6 months of inactivity. I contacted them and I was just told to signup for a new account. I did so... then it happened again... so I am CJ-less as of now... and not missing them.

Definitely, large companies like Google and CJ need faster and better support.... especially for PPC affiliates and you can go from profit to loss so quickly. I would very much like to see more improvements in their support systems, than new admin areas or new advertisers.

I would take the $200 and continue to run a blog contest with it. On another note, I love running contests and rewarding my visitors. Not only do I get to see blog activity, but it's also fun to see the increase in comments and what is said.

I've noticed a few more money making methods being added to john's site as well. The "Buy Me a Beer" post was interesting, but I wouldn't actually add it to the site. To me it would seem more shameless and a burden on the site, than then extra $100 a month it may pull in.

It's John's site and he has helped many with his posts and you'd be surprised how many people want him to make a ton off the site, then anxiously wait til the beginning of the next month to see what type of earnings he has made.

I've had several blog reviews done for my blog and so many of them want to see more ads on the site, so I can report on their performance. I was a bit surprised, as my goal is to focus on content... without throwing up annoying ads in the readers face.

I feel John's site will continue to grow, but would be best if he monetized and focused on his best performing money makers and removing a few others.... after all at $10k a month he's doing well with what he has up.

Comments are awesome. Nothing is better than going to your blog and seeing real content from users, especially when they like the blog. Screw paid comments, it won't make a full time income.

It's almost come to the point where you need to make up new words or site names to establish a new or unique business. Since many of the new 2.0 startups are new and don't have the massive cash to spend it on a (already owned) domain name, its easier for them to think hard and make something new and weird.

I would say Telemarkers or annoying networks/sales guys calling me are the worst. There is nothing I hate more than a number calling my cell and it ends up being someone I don't want to talk with. Email I can just delete or auto-filter.

Great article, I enjoyed it. Also, with saturation in niche areas... it's not always necessarily a bad thing. If it's saturated, that means there is plenty of money to be made. If the niche is also your passion, then it may drive your passion even more to see your blog/site grow and continually grow past the competition! :grin:
