in Scott Rafer: The Facebook Platform is Dead on AllFacebook
The Facebook Platform is not dead. The new design is killing off all the crappy little apps that have no substance, which is a large number, but many of these were created in haste to take advantage of the spammy, viral nature of the platform in its early stages
Now the platform requires some quality and thoughtfulness in its applications for them to become popular and viral. It also requires some rejiggering of existing apps and widgets to take advantage of the new opportunities the platform provides but most don't want to do that.
I think as we see more apps built with these new features (e.g. The Publisher) in mind, apps will become more successful. Some old ones will never be able to surpass where they were before, others will do even better because of the new design.

in Is Facebook Redesigning Their Header Again? on AllFacebook
Facebook and MySpace are different in some ways than many new sites in terms of design and navigation.
It is the new standard it seems, on sites like Flickr, imeem, iLike, etc., for the word "Home" to link to the user dashboard (which is what Facebook now does), but the company logo links to the site' s main page. But since Facebook doesn't have a main page, they obviously use it as another link to the dashboard.
I definitely see why they would add "Home" because the dashboard is a major focus now with all the new feeds and filters, etc. and many social networking users are getting used to clicking "Home", not the company logo, to get to the dashboard.

That's crazy. I also went to an AT&T store just to see what the deal was and I found out I am eligible for upgrade. That was pretty much enough for me, so I'll be in one of those lines too. I wonder what time people will start lining up? I'm not getting there much earlier than 7:30.
