I must say that an RM 5000 deposit is a bit too much.


If you don't carry a credit card, the receptionist is expecting all of us to be carrying RM 5000 in cash in case of such emergencies.



Maybe RM 500 would be a more reasonable deposit, while the rest of the money can be paid after the patient is admitted.

He he, I hope those tips will come in handy for you. I basically run through it whenever I am struck with the ever-subliminally-existing desire of "impulse buying", which I will later end up regretting and start finding 101 excuses to justify the purchase. :-P

When purchasing a new gadget, here's my general guideline:


1) Firstly, do a thorough check-list on whether the purchase is justified.



Make sure that I really need this gadget, I can't be productive without it, or best yet, I can't earn a living without it.



Make sure that I'm not getting it for the novelty features, which means I am really paying for the value that I will be getting from it. E.g. If I don't need 3G connectivity, screw 3G devices.



Make sure that I have done various comparisons with other models with similar functionalities and most importantly the price variations.



In short, make sure I do my homework and eat my veggies.





2) Secondly, check with my Ministry of Finance. Check how much cash exactly I am willing to part away to exchange with the convenience I will be getting with my new gadget purchase. Once I am happy with the amount that I feel is just right, I will repeat Step (1) again and this time filtering out those gadgets that is above my budget.



In short, always shop with the budget in mind, or you will end up losing on the opportunity cost that you could have had.

Indeed, every dreams worth pursuing is worth sacrifcing for. However, every obstacles cannot be overcome in a single day.



There are a few things you can try for now:-



1) Identify veggie buddies around your area. These people are very likely the same people who might have been through what you are going through.



2) Start small by helping out in the kitchen especially whilst preparing meatless dishes.



3) Take-away meatless food to add to the dishes during lunches/dinners.



4) Bring them out to a rather fancy meatless restaurant once in a while.



5) Stay away from oysterman's advice on vegetable cruelty.

Yeah, I agree that time is an important factor in any projects that we do. Indeed, if we take out time from the equation, then the entire project's purpose would have lost its purpose, which is why I think many R&D; projects which either has got endless supply of cash (money), no fixed deliverable date (time) and improper selection of talents (quality) usually results in failures.


To add to my Creative vs Practical discussion, the best results does not mean that you must be at a certain point of the scale or achieve an equilibrium of Creativity and Practicality.



The best results will depend on how flexibility one is in adjusting the scale to meet the requirements of the projects or problems at hand.

Anyway, it's not a direct attack against the advertising schools or prehistoric creative directors... I seriously believe we have talents that could have delivered similar results in the ads space, but I think the most limiting and discouraging factor would be the environment these superb talents are contained. You just can't propose anything too out of this world, either your boss (who graducated from any disciplines but creativity related) will ask you if you are still interested in the job or you are given 10 minutes to plan the ads campaign and spend the next 10 days regretting on the concept while executing it.
