Thank you, Lee, for bringing up Pascal's Wager. After reading the first post using that as a reason to believe in the imaginary god, I was going to post as you did. Now I can simply thank you for doing all the work.

Some of these people are just frightening, and I have a difficult time believing that any of those who claim to have previously been an atheist, really were EVER atheists. Seekers. That's what they are. They must have SOME reason that they're here, and since this supposedly wonderful and loving god cares enough to kill his son, after having PUNISHED so many people, commanding his own people to KILL for him (all the while having that "Thou shalt not kill" law around)... it's all just absurd.

I actually stopped wasting my time replying to those religious fanatics. They won't get it because they choose to not use reason. Let them be stupid by choice. But only provided that their choices don't infringe upon my U.S.-given rights.

I know a bi-coastal relationship that works pretty well, and a while back, someone sent me an article about marriages where the spouses didn't co-habitate. I'm too fucking lazy (and drinking) to do the research for you but Google should be able to help you.
If I were ever in a relationship again (which is highly unlikely, but whatever), I'd definitely consider this option. After 5 years of living alone with the kids, I can't imagine another human to nurture 24/7!

Looking forward to the day when I can sit and read a V. Woolf book. I have been reading two books for about 5 months. Sad but true. I agree totally with your assesment of Alexander, wish they would have immulated the character better, shown his empathy for some of his captives, should have shown how much in pain he was from a battle wound for the last 3 or so years of his life and he was not poisoned his gay lover was suspected to be poisoned, he died from an illness associated w/ fever. What's that you say? Why yes, I did teach a bit of history on Alexander this year.

Oh, saw that movie and I remember it, good yes.

Okay, I went on a cruise w/ my parents and sister through some of the islands umm Corinth, Rhodes....uhhhh and I think two others that I can't remember. I was 12 or 13 years old. I would love to go back and appreciate it as an adult. I saw all the ruins of ancient Greece and mostly remember being hot, tired and so blinking bored! Poor me. Sorry about your bummer day. Work is overrated!

I get embarrassed for people on TV, too.

With my five year old, we have a routine, too. After reading a book (or three if he can get away with it), it's lights out and: sing Rock-a-bye-baby, rub his back and say: Good night, sleep tight, don't let the bed bugs tickle...'cause I love you more than lemonade! And I usually have to repeat the singing, just to get him to lie still long enough to go to sleep.

Yeah...you've hit the nail on the head for me with this one. I've wondered so much if I'm doing the right things, if I'm good enough.

I don't regret leaving my ex but I regret that my son doesn't have a father, that I don't have a man in my life. I don't know that I can ever trust anyone to be either of those for either of us.

I'm not the same person I was a few months ago...and I'm growing & changing. But inside...I still feel like that scared little girl sometimes.

I want to know that before I make a decision, that it will be the right one. And you just can't know that. No more than you can know that who you pledge your life to will be the one a few years down the road that you want to be with.

It scares me that there are so many colors.

All societies are the same. They benefit a few and the people at the bottom get what is leftover. The masses are waking up because eggs have gone up 30% in that last year, but they were complacent when they could still pay the mortgage and eat out once a week.

I may be a bit pessimistic, but history bears out that sooner or later the masses will wise up and then it will get ugly. We have had moments like that during the Industrial Revolution. Factory workers were tired of the treatment they recieved and went on strike. Sometimes it got bloody. Black people got tired of getting the run around and it got bloody. The same thing has happened in South Africa or Rwanda or any country where one group is on top.

The real problem is that the ruling class got sloppy and lazy. Their brainwashing techniques are getting old. The propaganda is not tight and the holes are showing.

When you have to choose the one fruit you can afford to buy, gas or entertainment, drugs or food, then no amount of propaganda is going to convince you that everything is OK.

What it boils down to is that people do not want to know the truth about how their lives are run. It is too much to handle. We would rather believe the crap that we are fed everyday, until we become so uncomfortable the soothing words don't wash anymore.

The problem with cold calling is the lack of research before calling, the fact the caller talks to much about the company and what they do before the listener has a reason to listen them or consider them. Most Sales people are not qualified to cold call!

My name is April Spurling. I am a Marketing and Promotions Professional or in other terms a Professional Corporate Telemarketer. I do get results and more importantly I love what I do! Yes I love cold calling. That being said it needed to change and change I have been developing over the last 15 years because people hate this part of business and its true it Sucks! But why does it suck? Because it has never been carried out the respectable proper way. I am in the process of writing an E course and a E book on this very subject.

It is not easy by any means and certainly takes guts but raising three teenagers also does! I would like to share with you in the interest of helping businesses in today’s economy if I can, how I am able to get right to decision makers, editors and anyone else my clients need in big big companies that may help you.

1. Research the company and find out who is in charge.

2. Make sure you have a reason to help them (emphasis on help) and make this your focus of the call.

3. Never ever make the call about you or your company, other then what you do to help.

4. You have to be able to say this in a simple, understandable and very short method and ask them for permission to provide them info and ask to follow up. It works!

Hope this helps. And perhaps re-phrasing the word “cold calling” to Business Development might even trick you mind into thinking differently about this rewarding part of business.

I know many people have their own ideas about the self heating lattes and not everyone is going to agree. However, I do Team Penning which is a horse event that goes for at least 2 days during the weekend and runs at least 8 hours or more. Most places that we Team Pen at doesn't have a concession stand to get coffee and their is not a starbucks or any other coffee stand next to the arena, so these Wolfgang Puck Self Heating Latte is a great idea for us that do not have access to getting coffee while riding our horses. This Idea is also great for the hunting season and campers as I have not seen an expresso stand set up in the woods.

As far as people saying this product will not make a profit, well maybe not as big as starbucks but I know for a fact that several hunters and horseback riders will be purchasing this product any time we can find them!

I am in outside sales and drive my personal vehicle 75-150 miles every weekday in order to see my clients and prospects. My company has discouraged inside sales (phones and email) as contrary to how they do things, and has rebuffed my efforts to start a dialog regarding web presentations of our product. To make matters worse, they cap our reimbursement dollars of our mileage and that cap has been LOWERED in the past 6 months -- right in time with the gas hikes, it seems. After over a year at this job and thinking every day that I am killing the earth in order to fill someone's pockets, I finally gave my notice last week. Was that the main reason? Of course not. But just another reason to add to the list. It's also a very interesting example how good employees (yes, I was a top producer) are migrating to companies that are aligning with their personal values and ethics. So business owners out there: there is more than one reason to do the "right" thing. Employee retention is not often talked about when companies start philanthropic programs or start greening their business systems, but it is important, especially if your business is highly dependent on its human resources.

I have mixed feelings on this. I agree that a "used" pet is better than a "new" pet. However, what if the pet you want or even need is not available "used"? I have always wanted a little dog -- I grew up with a little dog as a childhood pet. Plus, I live in a small house and simply don't have the room or resources to walk and exercise a larger dog. Simply put, a small dog was for me, the most responsible pet to get. After scouring the local pounds and SPCA shelters, there was not a little dog in sight. Not a puppy mind you, but just something under 15 lbs. Nothing. According to the pounds, the little ones get scooped up quicker than warm cookies. Even the breed specific rescue organizations would not talk to me as I at the time was a single apartment dweller and did not fit their ideal placement of a family with a yard. So, alas, I shelled out $700 for a pet store dog, which posted everywhere that these were not "puppy mill" dogs, but bought from responsible breeders. To this day, I still feel guilty for not giving a home to a homeless pet, but my little doggie, going on 6 years old now is the light of my life.

I agree with Amelia...I too was almost kidnapped when I was 9. I am 30 now and remember it like it was yesterday, down to what clothes he was wearing. I don't know what he intended on doing with me had he persueded me to get into his c ar. I hate the thought that I might not be alive today If I did. We need to educate out children more about pedophiles and rapists, so their reactions become second nature. I have 2 children who are just starting to use the computer socially and I make damn sure that they never trust anyone except the good friends that they know. Nobody can be trusted these days, but we can't keep our children inside the house living in fear and not living their lives. Lock these sex perverts up after one conviction (I say), there is no cure and no rehabilitation for sex crimes. Period.

If the police think it's someone from MySpace, then my guess is that they should look harder at people she already knows. Her myspace account is set to private, so in order to communicate with anyone on Myspace with a private account you must grant them permission. I think she knew the person prior to MySpace, so the police should just check her "friends" list on her home page. I certainly hope I am wrong and she just ran away on her own somewhere, hopefully she's found soon!

I learned this from their site: Dropps works its magic in everything from old-timey top-loaders to the smart HE models to the industrial-types at the laundromat.
Which is good because I have an HE washer and I wasn't for sure if I could use the Dropps, but I can:)

My boys are 14, 12 and 8 and I tried to wear them with those super-uncomfortable packs that were available at the time. It seems like once they got to about 20lbs., my back couldn't take it anymore. I don't know if it was me or the snuggli?

Anyway, I am trying to convince dh that we should have another baby so I can wear him/her properly. He's not buying it though :-)

I remember when we got a brand new Jewel store, right next to the old one and how disorientated I was the first 50 times I went into that store.
Things weren't in places you would think and the asiles were weird.
I longed for months for the old Jewel, my Jewel the one that I could go into blindfolded and come out with exactly what I wanted.

I do not yet have kids but its good to know these kinds of things happen for when I have a family of my own. :)

Well, I have to say that I do feel sorry for some of them and the reason is because I am one of them. I have been desperately searching the web tonight trying to find anything that might make me feel better about hating motherhood. Something to make me feel better about wanting to give my kids to their father and just disappear for a year.

I'm angry that the world doesnt better prepare girls for how awful motherhood can be. This site is great but how are we reaching those before their at the age of making such an uneducated decision.

I was one of those girls. I had crazier things to deal with in order to survive than to ponder the thought of what degree i would get and the possibility of NOT having children. I was under this blanket of false misrepresentation of girl = woman = mother and never really felt there was anything else to choose from. Then I had kids, realized the father was a slacker so I needed to go back to school, and then I feel my education smacked me into reality. I feel i have been duped by societal messages, poor parenting, and lack of quality education for ALL. When i said education, i mean educating about life decisions and the consequences of these decisions. I would even like to take things a step further and suggest the thought of population control, because it IS unfair that children are being born to people who hate their parental responsibilites let alone the real eff-ups out their conceiving. There should be thorough testing done on individuals that want to have children. There are so many people out there that are willing and more capable.

I can go on forever tonight, but i want to say that i can see where everyone is coming from in their lack of compassion for those of us who made the CHOICE and now we should "lay in our beds", but it does hurt my feelings because its not so black and white. Not at all.

The only difference is the presence of promise rings. But that's only to get more kids making a correlation between the jonas brothers (doesn't deserve capitalization) and sex!
