I definitely don't predate google! I was lucky enough to get on the z-list meme shortly after I launched the blog and rode that wave and in 30 days, boom #1. Thanks so much to the guy that added me, ha ha.

Re: I Predate Google

My first #1 for a main targeted keyword (instead of some long string that I'm sure I might have been getting traffic for once in a lifetime) was for "social media blog." Good effort.

Re: 2007/10/02/fmail/

At first I thought this was a great idea until I actually added the application. I hate reading email on a squished display, and how do I jump back to my facebook account? It seems to kick you off your facebook account to an fmail client website. I'm going to remove this app, although the concept of syncing external sites into facebook sorta makes sense.

I'd prefer if Facebook added a "search within mail" feature. It's really a pain to click through pages and pages of message threads looking for someone's phone number or something.

Re: 2007/10/23/30-blog-directories/

We just did a similar post yesterday:
http://www.getelastic.com/rss-blog-directory-list/

Just a caution when submitting to the paid directories:

1. Make sure the page you are submitting to is in the search engine index - type site:urlofpage.
2. Check if your link will be a "real" link - rollover a sample listing url and watch for redirects or no rollover display. Then "View Source" and do a Find search on "nofollow"
3. Check that the directory is not or you could pay $50-$75/year for an invaluable link. Google the directory name, if I doesn't show up, it probably took a hit recently and is not actually passing link juice.

Re: 2007/10/23/30-blog-directories/

The comment stripped out what I wanted to say:

Check that the directory is not penalized by Google, or you could pay $50-$75/year for an invaluable link. Google the directory name, if I doesn't show up, it probably took a hit recently and is not actually passing link juice.

More info: http://www.seomoz.org/blog/what-makes-a-good-we...

Re: 2007/11/02/troll-week-winners/

Great, that's 8 minutes of my life I'll never get back. Please, you can't even spell "mislead" right, It's "misled". And "breech" is "breach". Go back to kindygarden!!

Re: 2007/12/01/facebook-beacon-lies/

PS that was just me trolling, don't take it personal ;-)

Re: 2008/05/06/pete-cashmore-interview/

Hmm, Brad Pitt of blogging - maybe more of a David Beckham?

Re: Blogs that make you go hmm, hmm, hmm

Hey blogger-friend from across the pond. Thanks for mentioning smogger, and thanks even MORE for mentioning C&C Music Factory. Although "Things that make you go Hmmm" was a chart topper, it doesn't hold a candle to "Everybody Dance Now."

Have I been tagged by virtue of making this list?
