We got Zherdev, so can't complain. But I remember one game last year. Rangers led 5-0 in the second period and it was because of Ryder's sensational effort that the Habs won in the shootout 6-5. You had to see it to believe it. He got the first two goals and then set up the fourth. If Julien can light a fire under him to play like that consistently, he'll get his 30 goals.

Re: Top Sports Shows, April 14-20, NBA Playoffs

The Saturday Bruins-Habs got an average 1.7 million in French and 1.5 million in English. But those numbers in English can go much higher depending on the teams.

http://www.nationalpost.com/news/story.html?id=...

You've also got strong numbers in some northern European countries although I'm not sure what the situation is in Russia these days.

The NHL is a writeoff in large sections of the US where the game is not played much because of the warm climate and also areas with highly concentrated minority populations. Given that the league starts off with two strikes against it, and is deprived of the hype the NBA gets on ESPN, the ratings are in pretty good shape for the shape they are in.

In just the last year all of a sudden all games are being live streamed on the Internet and the picture quality has improved by leaps and bounds. Right now it's pirate stuff but the technology can't be stopped and once this shakes down on a commercial basis, you are going to have mammoth crowds around the world. The NBA does not have that same potential, because the Europeans prefer their own competitions to the American whereas that is not the case with the NHL, which because it permits fighting is a different game.

Re: McCain ‘Releases’ Old Ad on Iran

As an Israeli I'm glad to see the Sarkozy article from Haaretz being printed here. I thought there was a complete blackout in the MSM in the US on criticism of Obama. Put this in perspective. Haaretz is not a tabloid, but claims to be the paper of record, and is very left-wing. They are quoting a senior Israeli government official, which means they had someone high up in the government. Naturally the French Embassy is going to deny it, but the phrase used "formulations empty of all content" describes everything else Obama says, so it rings true. Krauthammer, the shrink, says Obama is driven by cynicism and ruthlessness. Cynicism is insincerity directed to a purpose. Sarkosky has him pegged..

Re: 2007/12/17/owa-voting-finalists-1/

Reddit is a haven for anti-Semites.
http://www.root-1.co.il/reddit.htm
