in Ep 152: Scott Brennan, Life on Mars (US), Kath & Kim (US) on Boxcutters - An Australian TV Podcast
What's the deal with podtrac... it took me about 4 1/2 min to direct download rather than the usual 30-50sec.

Anyone else find it slow?

in No Boxcutters This Week on Boxcutters - An Australian TV Podcast
I noticed last night (Monday) that 30Rock wasn't on Ch7 at 11.30pm like it has been for the previous fourteen weeks (Olympics excluded). I also noticed that it is on tonight (Tuesday). How clever of them to show the whole season of a show at the same time every week then reward fans by showing the last episode of the season on a different night...

Need I say more? No. That was a rhetorical question. Right.

Does anyone else 'not buy' the new ANZ ad which is a lame rip off of The Chemical Brothers Let Forever Be film clip? Unless ANZ has enlisted Michel Gondry to create it's ads, which I doubt. It hasn't even bothered to create the full effect. Poor work.

Another ad agancy rip-off which was on more often a month or two ago was for a brand of 'ladies sanitary products' (I forget which one). The ad involved young, hip women leaping through computer generated shapes in slow motion. That may sound a bit neither here nor there but I'm sure everyone got the email/saw the YouTube clip of Japanese Game Show Human Tetris Happy Challenge or whatever it was called - same thing.

Surely these ad agencies are getting paid enough millions of dollars to spend the time to come up with an original concept. I know it's been happening for years but grrrrr...

Great comment by "dave" on the age website re: illegal Underbelly copies:

"Australia appears generally to attempt to control piracy by making shows no one wants to watch."

Ha!

Huzzah.

Has anyone noticed Nine has now added little ads to their watermark when they feel like it. Why don't they be done with it and give up....

I did find the POV camera a bit off-putting when I first started watching Peep Show, but I got over it pretty quickly, and think it's quite relevant to the fact there's a lot of inner monologue. Also you may remember Sophie from such movies as Hot Fuzz. She was also in the episode of The Office playing the reporter from the paper magazine while Brent is told by the motivational speaker people that they don't want him anymore (I caught up on The Office over Christmas).

Clearly (or not) the above comment was meant to appear under the previous topic. And now that there are other comments there it is irrelavent.

Apparently Ch9 will cease broadcasting on November 23. Makes sense really.

It must be true it's on Wikipedia. Check out the last line of the history part

The debate part of the show was live wasn't it?

Surely they wouldn't have put those retards to air if it was pre-recorded. I think the producers of the show must have been shaking there heads in disbelief at the ... the ... the ... I don't know what to call the stuff was coming out of the mouths of the audience members. I think there was one coherent thought from one woman about halfway through the questions.

I'm sure I've seen other panel shows on the ABC where there have been interesting and intelligent arguments put forward by the audience. Even an audience made up of the general public rather than experts. I'm pretty sure this audience was neither.

in Paris burns on Boxcutters - An Australian TV Podcast
That looked more like a shredder that would sit on a floor than a desk - it had the bin attached to it, and I think a TV newsroom/studio would have a shredder at hand - news organisations don't like to have documents lying around for security (of their information) reasons.

Regardless or whether it was staged I think the message is the same - Enough Paris.

For those who missed it, the Mal Walden bit:

I agree. The Nation 's skits were laboured, the Osama one painfully so. Jackie O wasn't as spew worthy as I thought she'd be (I have refused to buy DVD movies that I wanted to buy simply because they have the 'recommended by Kyle and Jackie O' stickers), but she had nothing original to say. I did have a laugh at Stephen Curry's McClune interview but I can't imagine that being funny week after week. As with the opening "news" bit - it's a one trick skit done over and over.

Good luck Mick, but I'll be surprised if it surpasses the eight episode run of The Mick Molloy Show.

When was the last time a drama (ie not reality/game show or sporting event/ceremony) program rated this highly in Australia? Drama debut?

What are the chances of Seven airing several "encore" presentations? Pretty high I'm betting.

in ENORMOUS news… on Boxcutters - An Australian TV Podcast
I'm hoping they will treat Letterman with a bit more respect than 9. I would think chTen's 18-49yo target demographic is where Letterman's Australian audience lies rather than 9's 55-105yo target demographic.
Channel Ten does have a history of picking up shows discarded by other networks and making them work. See Seinfeld, see Neighbours, see something else - probably.

in simpsons movie preview on Boxcutters - An Australian TV Podcast
Found this on the official Simpsons website:
The Simpsons Movie
World Premiere Trailer
Sunday 8/7c During the Simpsons on FOX

Which means it aired about 10 this morning Melbourne time. Looks like chTen might have a little bit of their shit together.

from www.imdb.com:
Twentieth Century Fox registered the internet domain SIMPSONSMOVIE.COM on 22 April 1998, eight years before the movie finally was green lighted.
