in Posty not the dogs bullocks and neither is Twhirl on Roger Kondrat - Online Communicator
I see your point.
Sometimes it is not easy to find the added value of tools like Posty.
I personally had needs similar to yours, that is tools which do something more than the things I can do in a regular browser.
I am not trying to justify my work on Posty, but I feel I can say we are not yet ready for that, for two reasons: api provide a good gateway to a service, but servers are not yet ready to be hit by tons of requests as it would be needed by the requests you made.
The second reason is related to the frameworks you adopt to develop your app. The one I use - Adobe Air - is great, but it has been released less than a year ago. It is still young and needs to grow, to address all the needs of RIA developers.
For example you talk about thread visualization, and I'd love a tool with such a feature, being it a web mashup or a desktop application.
In twitter there are no threads, at least not in the sense of forums. There are just updates prefixed by a username. In that case threading is useless, because you will end up with a list of partially unrelated statuses.
In this case let me reply with one question: if threads are important, why twitter or FF don't display them on the website?
My response is easy: they did conceive their services as threaded conversations, but just as flat lists.
Anyway, thanks for the criticism. I appreciate it.

I have set a smaller minimum size, 440pixels. Otherwise your are not able to watch youtube videos... Thinking of scaling more...

Ah, videos. 440 might do. I'll test it at home. Thanx for the quick response!

As for everything on one screen I am thinking of that, though I think Friendfeed is a pretty good solution to the problem

True FriendFeed is a solution to itself, but it's still not a desktop app like Posty. I think Posty has potential. I Just hate not being able to resize it. Can you fix that?

the custom graphics, especially couple with transparency, usually causes memory hogs.

in Not productive enough? Turn off the Internet on Scobleizer
I agree. I notice an increase of productivity when I am not distracted by the phone, the internet or the office mates :)
And I feel strange when, after 2/3 straight hours of work I think: "I didn't miss email and rss feeds!" :)
