Man, I knew that was long! I liked your author section for me, Be prepared for a very honest, blunt & fun discussion! That photo was taken right after a game of basketball. If it were a video I would have been sucking wind.

I like the site redesign too. I see it's not totally finished (tos) but it seems really fast.

Re: Are You An Online Litterbug? 3 Simple Habits to Cure Social Bookmark Littering

Yes, the best coffee is here. I have been working on a big project and not much time for anything else. I see in your picture above that you had 508 unread items, I haven't even opened mine this morning, oh boy.. These are the days that some people get skimmed, or skipped...

Google Alerts is a great tool, I have had that setup for quite a while and it is great. I have a few other businesses and this tool helps me keep up with the competition.

Finally my time saving daily, well sort of; Don't laugh, but I use Microsoft Outlook. I have 6 different emails for my companies not including my personal ones (gmail and thejimgaudet). Outlook makes it easy to check and organize them all, but my main reason for using it is to support my clients.

One of the biggest problems with so many emails is that my in-boxes can become cluttered with my "to do list".

So, in Outlook you have the Follow Up feature, which I use heavily and it helps me to organize my work (network admin stuff, web design stuff, crap to check out, etc.) Basically I just click the follow up, schedule my time to do this (in a block of time I have for each work mode I am in) and then put that email into a saved folder.

This serves two purposes. First, I am able to look at each email at a time and make a decision on it, now or later. And second, I will not forget to do something because it is buried in with a bunch of other emails.

Damn, long comment sorry. I am still on my first cup of coffee this morning.

Re: 7 Tips to Rock Your Social Bookmarking Profile

I have my own system now. I spend each day reading my personal news, Google Reader.. I only click on the Titles I want to read (yup, you won today!) then if I do read it, I try to add a comment if I can. But, I do make sure to add it to SM, Stumble, reddit, digg, twitter, delicious and facebook mainly..I have decided on those only and don't even mess with the others.

If you are out just looking to comment and get links, or vote for traffic it will not work. For me I am the same. Believe it or not, but I talk to everyone the same. I have made it very important that my clients know who I am as a person, so when they do search the internet for me there are no surprises.

I think that changing my voice would be the worse thing I could do to myself. I believe that my clients like the person I am and the work I do, so this is why they stay with me. Also, the power of that back link including the relevance to your site. Recently Google announced that the links from directories will carry less weight than in the past, but still ok.

So go out and get as many links as you can, just try to make them as relevant to your site as you can.

:)

Re: Small Business Tips: Online vs Offline Printing

Well, for me I have never needed to print that much. Chris, can you put a link to RSS comments for this post, right underneath the notify button? I would much rather read the comments in Google Reader, than have 150 emails from chrisbrogan.com.

I do value reading the comments, that is why I ask. I am not even sure you could possibly read all these comments yourself, especially since I saw those 2 "Panda Anti Virus" comments from "Jack" come through on one of your older posts.

So finally my response;

"Stop trying to do it all yourself." -- This one hits me in the face like a brick. Until I learned that I could trust others to help me, I was never successful. now I have many trusted employees and a more happy and successful life.

"Learn from brilliant people" -- Now what else is the 'net for? With blogs and twitter, I can now listen to the people who make changes in the world. With time I can learn from them, maybe connect with them. Whenever I read something that I think is intelligent, or that I could learn from this person, I add them to my RSS list. Which is huge now.

With these people, I have learned so much that I could not write it down. I have had the opportunity to help others as well.

Well, time to turn on the "Chris Brogan" filter in my email....

Re: How I Use Twitter at Volume

It's great that you try to answer everyone, but how do you not go crazy. Resist the urge to twist every conversation into a marketing opportunity. Participate, engage and add value by supplying information. THAT is what helps you establish credibility and develop relationships. Putting ads or self promotional content into the discussion only cheapens the experience for everybody.

I think giving information is the best policy.

Jim Gaudets last blog post..In Search of a Path for my Blog…

Re: Choosing a forum

I use all open source for my website. I am working on a FF post, maybe something like this..

Re: Seven Great Bloggers who Google Friend Connect

Nice, get the Freindfeed by Robert Scoble too, he is super active..

Re: Seven Great Bloggers who Google Friend Connect

You are not AUTO friends, but only one click away from being friends.

Re: Seven Great Bloggers who Google Friend Connect

Ah, now I am connected...

Re: Scribnia: Yelp for Writers

Alex,

Sorry man the other day I lost some emails, and of course the invite you sent to me was included.

Can you send again?

Great review BTW..

Re: Scribnia: Yelp for Writers

All signed up, gracias :)

Lo siento mucho..

Re: Dot Day 2009

Nice photos..

Re: Mass Innovation Tonight | #roofup #bostweetup wrap-ups

Looks like it was fun, beers in hand..

Re: Mass Innovation Tonight | #roofup #bostweetup wrap-ups

I love Sam Adams beer, but I stay away from the lights.

Re: Three Cool Products from Mass Innovation #3

I am definitely liking the IBM one. I try to focus on comments, but not for back links. I do it because the real conversation is there. Reading an informational article and having no way to converse about it, it ancient IMO.

Want to know about Boston? I really like the idea of not having anything on the sides. If I didn't just re-do my site, I think I would go with something like this.

I am sure we will see some sort of clickable pop out on the sides.

The only thing I would do is add some hover effects to the social buttons in the social bar and the big ones above the comments.
