There is a conference held each year, presented by the Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization (ADAO), which is based in California. The conference is in Detroit, Michigan this year, March 28-30. There is a post about it on this site, and registration deadline is today. I'm working to establish an Asbestos Awareness Day event in Montgomery, Alabama, since that's where I'm based, on April 1, to coincide with the national awareness day, and I'll be posting more information about that in the coming weeks. Thank you for reading, and continue to check back for new information. I'll also be attending the ADAO conference and posting from there!

Re: Today is Mesothelioma Day 2008 in the UK

Kirsten, I just learned that there is a Meso Awareness Day in the U.S.! It is September 26. It is sponsored / organized by the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation (MARF), often just called The Meso Foundation.

Re: The Truth About Cancer

Thank you so much for your comment, and also for the link to the GNIF Brain Blogger web site. I appreciate your work in examining the psychosocial impact of cancer. It really is an illness that affects the whole person, mind and body, as well as those around them. Thank you again for sharing!

Re: The inevitability of death

Hi Stacey,
I just wanted to thank you so much for sharing the story of your father. I can tell from your description of his life that he was an amazing man, and how much you loved him. Thank you for honoring him by sharing his story and helping to bring attention to the people who worked so hard for their country and were affected by Meso. Your story about his passing gave me goosebumps - NORM.INTRANSIT. Wow! All I can say is thank you so much for posting this story and for sharing your passion for finding justice for the people who suffer from mesothelioma. You are right - their time is too short, and it SHOULDN'T be that way. Thank you again, so much, for speaking out. God bless you and your family.

Re: Asbestos closes North Iowa elementary school

I am not sure if you need information about the Iowa school, or asbestos in general.

The Asbestos Awareness Disease Organization (ADAO) does have general asbestos awareness information in Spanish and French available on its web site, under Educational Materials. Here is a link to that page:
http://www.asbestosdiseaseawareness.org/resourc...

I hope this helps!

Re: Lung cancer survivor to play on U.S. Open course

Hi Aileen,

I am so glad that John's story inspired you! I know he must be excited to have the chance to talk about lung cancer and raise awareness. I got his story from the Lung Cancer Alliance. They tell me he has been swamped with requests and hasn't been able to get to them all, but I have forwarded yours to them and they will get it to him. In the meantime, they ask that you contact them. They have a Survivors Community that may be able to help you and they can provide more information and resources. You can email them at info@lungcanceralliance.org and they will put someone in touch with you.

I hope this helps, and God bless you and your husband as you face this challenge.

Wendi

Re: Girl honors grandpa at Mesothelioma symposium

Thank you, asbestosnews! What a remarkable girl to speak out on behalf of her grandpa at such a young age! It just goes to show that anyone can be an advocate - it just takes a willingness to speak up.

Re: $8 million asbestos study in Libby

Thanks for commenting, asbestosnews. I know those of us who work to raise awareness about asbestos diseases like mesothelioma are encourage by news like the $8 million research study in Libby. The more we know, the closer we can come to finding a cure.

Re: More Concerns Over Blood Thinner From China

Hi Mr. Gordon,

I work with Beasley Allen, and am sorry to hear of your troubles following your hospital stay in July 2007.
