With so many smart people on Wall Street how could these big banks get in so much trouble? (In my experience, they love imaging their hard drives with trial ware because it is one of ther best ways to create continuity revenue) I could even be part of the reason they are doing so. I have 2 inspiron machines replaced because they came loaded with trialware and removal of them rendered the systems nonfunctional.

I'm now on Dell unit #3 a Latitude D820 which is 6 months old and ready for a complete low level hard drive reformat. This machine is a huge disappointment with lock up's, browser errors, re-boots, slow boots etc. Could be a Microsoft XP issue and don't plan on upgrading to resource hog Vista. I will probably go MAC and get a cheap desktop PC for Windows apps.

Dell customer service has been excellent but their product management people and lack of flexibility of configuring a unit without trialware (at least in the past) has been difficult especially when they said they were shipping units with out trialware, bloat ware etc. I don't trust them.

Re: Microsoft to buy Yahoo: Ray Ozzie roars

I think that this could be more of a land grab play than anything else. However it is not how much you sell it is how much you keep, and right now Google is pocketing quite a bit of cash.

As segmented traffic becomes more coveted this looks attractive in the long run for gates and co. In the short run there is lots of room for error merging cultures that are drastically different.

Re: My videos from Davos

Edlemam makes a really valid point, will the advertisers be relevant? (It will take a TON of work for them to be relevant, gone are the dayz of force feeding the consumers with garbarge....well almost) What we are seeing i think is a tectonic shift in media dollars from TV to online. Some estimates are $40 Billion over the next 24 months to online. That so, this is why Microsoft is interested in Yahoo (Media) company. But at the end of the day Yahoo has eyeballs. Eyeballs can be monetized in the right hands.

Re: Martin Sorrell : Going search is like admitting Google won

Paul: You are right. However what works well for Google much better than all of the agencies combined is that that the sit between customer ==> google ==> seller where before it was customer ==> agency ==> media co. ==> seller. (Hence Google is the single best self serve agency ever created).

What Google has done a really good job at is delivering relevant information. Agencies and media companies help create the demand. Agencies going "search" is like Detroit going Green. Google and Microsoft will become the biggest ad agencies/networks.

If creative is really good can you think of a product you bought from a Superbowl ad over the past 5 years?

Futurist Jacque Fresco says in the future there will be no advertising. Most impressive about going to their sites and registering was the experience, especially after I went to the second site. I can imagine a day where I have a half a dozen or so cards in my digital wallet i.e. card for social networking sites, card for shopping, card for publishing and magazine type sites and a card just for blogs. it makes it so much easier.
