in The YBP Review: 808s and Heartbreak on YBPGuide
I have to agree with this album being more art than entertainment. It is very reare that hip hop has emotion. I while ago I heard John Mayer explaining his thought process and meaning behind every song on his album. I thought to myself that there aren't hardly any mainstream artist who could really go through and explain the emotion behind their albums. Ye really makes you feel his pain through this album. I mean really feel it. I though his use of the vocoder was going to be him releasing his own t-pain album but he took it so much further,

Can the situation ever change? We live in a capitalistic society by which the rich are always looking for a way to get richer. Those that aren't are always looking for the easiest and quickest way to either become or appear rich. We have all gotten impatient and lazy. Soon Americans will find the next everyone is making money this way market and blow it till it burst.

in Subway: The $5 Racists? on Black Web 2.0
20 years ago marketers would not touch hip hop with a 100 ft pole. We complained that America was racist and would not pay attention to Hip Hop because it was made by blacks. Now we think that it is racist that we do. Jim Crow and slavery have messed with our heads so much that we can no longer truly identify racism. Every time we disagree with the actions of a white person we can't just lump it the magical category of racism. What if we later find out that Subway hired a black ad agency for there marketing efforts and this is what they produced. Is the ad agency then uncle toms? If so everybody out there that is remotely profiting off of the popularity and marketability of hip hop is either racist or and uncle tom.

in Fatman Scoop takes ManandWife.tv Primetime on Black Web 2.0
Caught this show the other night, didn't know the background of it but found it hilarious! What's more interesting is to see a podcast become a full blown TV show. Although Fatman Scoop was already famous it is cool to see online popularity transfer to mainstream popularity. Maybe one day we will see Blackweb2.0 on BET or TVOne?

in BET launches 106 & Park Connect on Black Web 2.0
I think this is an interesting marketing move. I don't think they really want to or expect for this social network to go up against the giants but rather build a loyal audience around the show. cell phone and beverage companies have tried this it will be interesting to see how well a social network can do built around a TV show. Fast Company has also seemed to have successfully integrated social networking around their magazine.

in Soledad, This is What I Wanted on YBPGuide
The problem is that you can never do a documentary on an entire race of people because you end up picking out the stereotypes that fit the images you want to portray. If she had included everything you asked for there are still 20 million other scenarios to show. Main stream media since the beginning has tried to box us into as few categories as possible. It is much easier to find a few ways to generalize us all than it is to take each person as a separate individual.

The overall problem with thoughts and research like this is that we will never be white. If we talk like them 10 years from now this professor will conduct research linking liking black music to lower wages. You said it best when stating that the world is like high school and in America the popular kids are white. A look a American high schools though and the white kids are trying to be black. What we should really be thinking is how can we do what hip hop did to the music industry, blacks have done to the MBA and black quarterbacks have done in the NFL to the business realm. Americans want to be popular and rich. If people that talk black start building million dollar companies, whites will as history has shown clamor for the next black sounding star to get them rich.
