I'd like to put a different spin on this. I have lived in Baltimore County all of my life and wanted to move to Columbia where living seemed to be a bit more upper class. What a joke - people making well below average want above average housing and get it. So, you have the family making over 100k who has the money to upkeep their home and the family making 30k who can barely support their children. But living in the same home. Please answer this - why is it so difficult to clean up your yard? Mow the grass? Plant flowers. There is a reason certain neighborhoods are not increasing in price - if you want a home, then please take care of it!

Anyway, I use to stereotype people by color and living conditions, but now I have a different term - ghetto mentality. It consists of white, black, asian, etc. people who just don't care, feel that others are holding them back, or want a free handout. It consist of black people who blame the white man for slavery (history note: all races have been slaves in some form or another) or white trash who can't take care of their lawn. It includes women who suck dry the welfare system or lazy people living off disability from SSA (did you know that SSA will continue to support people who can work but don't want to because they will make less than their disability checks?). Newsflash - you have no one to blame but yourselves. And bravo to those who take responsibilities for themselves for good/bad.

As for Baltimore vs. Arundel vs. Howard counties - I've seen it everywhere. WTF ever happened to good service. You get paid to smile and help me, just like I get paid to do my job. I am so sorry that you have to stop your personal call and filing your nails to help me, but deal with it. It's called job responsibilities.

Good post!

Re: Welcome to the Ground

We don't sacrifice men and women every time we launch. There have been more successful launches than failures. And the astronauts know the risks involved, and like any other profession, there are risks. Heck, look at the risk we take with cars, airplanes, etc.

Now on to NASA - do they have a lessons learned meeting after every launch? First off, most tradegies happen in January. Lesson 1, don't launch in January. Second, there is alot of politics and group think. Lesson 2, if there is something worng, the shuttle doesn't fly. You are dealing with lives and alot of money for each launch - please stop with the groupthink and management changing minds. Lesson 3, learn from mistakes and stop making the same ones.

Re: Crash Into Me, Yea…

Glad that no one was hurt. If you believe in abortion, homosexuality, killing, etc. then you are going to hell. If you don't go to church and most importantly don't give money to the church, then you are not a part of the Catholic faith.

If you read the Bible, God accepted everyone unconditionally. The Catholoc church has so many exceptions that it's sad. That is why I tend to turn from the church.

The church is almost like a cult and I cringe that Christainity is promoting martyrs at this point. When I heard about Pat, I really hoped that it was a bad joke; that his words were mistaken. Guess Not.

Re: The Story Thus Far

Catching up a little late with the post. She responded to the call for arms in New Orleans as horrible. We should be looking for survivors!!! The looters are just trying to survive and insurance is going to cover what they lost. And please don't shoot the people with guns - they are just scared.

Finally, they are going after the looters. It's sad that the rescuers have to stop looking for survivors to stop people who are coming from dry land and homes to loot the flooded businesses and homes. Good thing they'll have a TV when the power comes back on.

The government is in a tight spot. One strong theme came from Katrina and that is ACCOUNTABILITY. No one takes accountability for their actions. The people left behind didn't take accountablility for not leaving or listening to the warnings. The local and state government isn't taking accountability for their lack of preperation. And the Feds aren't taking accountability for being slow. Sorry, but I do think that the Feds were a bit slow in responding, but please keep in mind that what we hear is from our wonderful media.

As I said in my other thread, Americans love trends. We'll get on the band wagon to come up with better disaster plans, but that's going to be about it. People need to take accountablilty and follow through with the plans.

On a side note, WOW. So many blacks don't even know their own history - why the Civil War was fought, how they came to the US, and even that white people were slaves at one time as well. This past year, I was either traveling (dog stay with my parents most of the time) or I was working 10-16 hours days. Diesel got walks, just not every day. On longer days, my dad would come over or he would be at my then-boyfriend's house who lived near water so Diesel would go swimming. He's also 9 years old and has a big yard to roam around in. Not a great excuse, but he was played with everyday. About 1.5 years ago I bought my house and the hiking with Diesel stopped. Then only this past summer, the walks decreased.

Maybe I should refine my resolution to Diesel will be walked by ME.

Re: Resolutions

Not taking it as a fight. Similarity - I could completely see the structure of posts and comments. Difference - I think that the user has more control in a forum - subscribing to favorites, user control panels, etc.

I think in the rawest form, blogs and forums have the same goals and user interface structure, but I feel that forums have more advanced features at this time.

Re: On the Job Hunt

You will be missed, but understood. The Baltimore Sun ran an article months ago about how women from Mexico are bused to the Eastern Shore to chuck oysters, but couldn't last year because the work quota had been met. Last time I checked, there were still people looking for jobs. All I can say is thank goodness for the border control.

Re: Of NDAs and Non-Competes

I had to sign a contract with a government contractor (long time ago) for a non compete agreement. As unfair as it sounds, I don't think that a "family" should run the US. I wonder how many times Bush voted on something to please his father or to back his father. And my comments about Hillary aside, I don't want the Clintons to remain in office.

The two party games just make me groan. Dems won't vote on something if a Rep brings it up. Reps won't support a Dem. Politics aren't about the people - it's about the Dems s the Reps.

Putting the two together - As long as a "Party Here" is in the White House, nothing will get done because "Other Party Here" will not support it.

I voted for Perot a long time ago. No one can prove that Jesus was married and no one can disprove that he wasn't. There are many theories surrounding the two thoughts. And in many cases, Jesus is based in faith.

When I got to college I took a religion class where the priest taught us different ways to read the bible. I had no idea that Adam and Eve were parables and not real people. From there on in, I took bible readings with a grain of salt.

Have you ever wondered how women went from being worshiped to being almost nothing? The Church. The Church just loves having power. Did you know that women of the Revolutionary War have been written out of history - many facts we have about women in the war comes from journals and letters? Why? Men of the church.

I think that Da Vinci Code was a great thing - it got people to think and question.

Re: The Da Vinci Code

You are right - there is no proof that he was married and plenty of proof that he was. Why would people get so upset over this "novel"?

"On November 3, ABC News devoted an hour of programming in a special Primetime with Elizabeth Vargas to investigate the "factual" claims of the book.
