Take your contract with you. I see the Bulk REOs as properties, not financial instruments. But, depending on how the deal is structured, you might not be a sales agent, or the payment might not be a commission, but rather a finder's fee... a lot depends on the contract you have with your broker.

Good luck. Let me know how it goes.

Re: Free Thrasher’s tickets for tonight

I dropped the ticket off with one of my past clients earlier this afternoon.

Enjoy.

Re: Lane’s Top Ten Nastiest vehicles you have never heard of…

Rita, you like the Morgan? Things like fresh paint, Of course, the same types of steps need to be taken outside. Clean up around the house, paint the front door, give the landscaping a fresh trim, or possibly even update. Make sure that the driveway is clean... get rid of any stains as much as possible. Write, or have written, compelling copy for the listing and ads. Get very good photos... and lots of them. A virtual tour is becoming mandatory now. Make sure that the house is a step above every other competitive property in the area.
Thanks for commenting.

Re: Real estate video, New and Improved?

I agree about the comments. I found it so that you could get the better version.

Reprinted below...

This letter came from a poor old bricklayer who had suffered an accident. He has been besieged with the bureaucracy of an insurance company in filling out the forms for a Workmen's Compensation claim. I would like to read to you a little bit of this letter that he wrote back to the insurance company.

"I am writing in response to your request for additional information. In Block 10 of the accident reporting form I put, 'poor planning', as the cause of my accident. You said in your letter that I should explain more fully, and I trust that the following details will be sufficient.

I am a bricklayer by trade. On the day of the accident, I was working alone on the roof of a new six story building. When I completed my work I discovered that I had about five hundred pounds of bricks left over.

Rather than carry the bricks down by hand, I decided to lower them in a barrel by using the pulley, which fortunately was attached to the side of the building at the sixth floor. Securing the rope at ground level, I went up to the roof, slung the barrel out, and loaded the bricks into it. Then I went back to the ground, untied the rope, holding it tightly to assure a slow descent of the 500 pounds of brick.
You will note that in Block 11 of the accident reporting form that I weigh 135 pounds. Due to my surprise at being jerked off the ground so suddenly, I lost my presence of mind, and forgot to let go of the rope. Needless to say, I proceeded at a rather rapid rate up the side of the building. In the vicinity of the third floor, I met the barrel coming down. This explains the fractured skull and broken collar bone.

Slowed only slightly, I continued my rapid ascent, not stopping until the fingers of my right hand were two knuckles deep into the pulley. Fortunately, by this time I had regained my presence of mind and was able to hold tightly to the rope in spite of my pain.

At approximately the same time, however, the barrel of bricks hit the ground, and the bottom fell out of the barrel. Devoid of the weight of the bricks, the barrel now weighed approximately fifty pounds. I refer you again to my weight in Block 11. As you might imagine, I began a rapid descent down the side of the building. In the vicinity of the third floor, I met the barrel coming up. This accounts for the two fractured ankles and the lacerations of my legs and lower body.

The encounter with the barrel slowed me enough to lessen my injuries when I fell into the pile of bricks. And fortunately, only three vertebrae were broken. I am sorry to report, however, that as I lay there on the bricks in pain, unable to stand, and watching the empty barrel six floors above me, I again lost my presence of mind and let go of the rope.

I'll see you guys tomorrow.

Re: Cub Scout Car Guys…

Katy,
It was my pleasure. I won't give you a pass for it being the first time you drove drunk. You got lucky and didn't hurt or kill anyone. There could have just as easily been a tragic ending. Shortly after High School, my girlfriend's best friend was killed by a drunk driver. A couple of years later, a friend of mine was coming home from work on his bike, and a drunk driver hit him and left him for dead. He was in a coma for several weeks, and suffered brain damage. Every single day, there are scores of people that die because someone drove drunk for the first time.

And, don't try to make it sound like you had to drive drunk once to learn. There isn't one honest person in this country that can say they don't know it is a stupid idea. Are you going to try to say that you didn't know what you were doing was wrong... and stupid? I don't need to know you or more details to know that you did something stupid, and got lucky that you didn't cause anyone serious harm.

Finally, I wrote that post because I almost fell off of my chair when I saw the story on Fox News. It is funny. I will admit that "moron drunk driving" has become one of the more popular search terms for my blog, but it really isn't aiming for my target audience. But, that wasn't in my mind when I wrote the story.

Maybe instead of Googling yourself and trying to chastise everyone that thought it was a funny headline, maybe you should find a way to tell others that you made a stupid move and look for ways to stop other people from making the same mistake. Perhaps you can take this very negative incident and find a way to make it positive. Maybe YOU could save someone's life.

That would be growing up.

Re: Time for some cool garage touches…

Simon,

I have to say I thought about not letting your comment stand. It would push investment off-shore. Instead of the savings and investment being made here in the US to grow jobs and expand business here, it would go somewhere else.

Personally, I think that income tax itself is something that should be done away with, and we should move to a purely consumption based tax system like the FairTax.

BTW, the "poor" pay almost nothing in tax, and the percentage that they pay of their income is also just about negligible.

Re: So many places to be… so little time.

I'm on Linked In.
