What a baller speech. That motivated the hell out of me. Definitely keeping that around for future viewings. Thanks!

Very cool idea. Another big biz opportunity might be just creating simple/good websites for schools. So many of them are broken/confusing/horribly done.

Keep up the good work, man. I've been back at working out regularly for the past 3 weeks with Kettlebells and it's been great. Definitely gotten stronger and more flexible since then....with p90x, do you need your own free weights/equipment?

To be clear, Takkle is not a "recruiting tool." It's essentially an entertainment site that tries to appeal to high school athletes. They've done a good job at that, but to date, I wouldn't say it's been used as a recruiting tool --just more for entertainment and looking at top players, videos, battles...and cheerleading pictures.

The thing about sites like this is - golfers don't really go online to find partners/people to play with (yet)...don't really see this one going anywhere.

I'm sure you're right about golfers not seeking partners online, but maybe they should? I don't know. Who knows what'll happen in the near future. Things may change. Or they may not.

in How Long Can “Ad Supported” Last? on Social Times
I think the model will last. With few exceptions, consumers don't want to pay for content--not just on the internet, but also on other platforms such as mobile phones. Companies that can figure out ways to offer ad-supported content and services will continue to be successful.

in Coke Ignites the Brazilian Blogosphere with its Social Media Strategy on Ignite Social Media
I don't really see much wrong with this as long as the bloggers weren't told they HAD to review the product and practiced full-disclosure if they did decide to write about it. Maybe it's just a difference in culture. If a company wants to send me something for free (and it's a product I like and related to a topic I'd typically write about) I have no qualms accepting it and writing about it.

I think you hit the nail on the head with this. Hyper-local news is only becoming more viable, especially as the number of citizen journalists and people who create their own content increases. We've tried to tap into this interest in local news with our website, and it seems to be doing well so far.

RS - I see your point but what about the fact that there are still millions who HAVE heard of the Leave Brittany Alone video---probably more people have heard of this than have ever been on Hulu or even heard of it...

This just shows how big the disconnect is between guys like Gene Simmons and his real fans. Blaming his fans because he isn't willing to adapt to new business models is not the way to go.

in Is Viral Video an Effective Marketing Strategy? on Ignite Social Media
I like this post. The only thing I would say is that you have to be careful about pointing a viral video back to a product/service. In some cases, this will impact the videos ability to go viral, as people are less likely to spread something around if they see it is commercial (don't really have any facts/numbers to back this up, but just observations). Have you found this to be true or not?

with P90X you basically use your body weight for the majority of things.. along with a small set of dumbbells.. It never ceases to amaze me how good of a workout I can achieve without using weights...
