dumb congressman If meatpackers really did pay 18 bucks an hour as a starting wage they would get plenty of legal citisens in line for jobs. The penalties to companies AND thier officials are not harsh enough to their bottom line and persons to keep them from continuieing to hire illegals.

I guess the bottom line is that you should be very, very careful when you amend the constitution and the authors of 41 were very careless and now we're left with a mess where the legislature is being asked to vote for a bill whose basic premise is that Amendment 41 doesn't mean what it says.

katy's reply I'm working with The First Amendment Council. It's a nonprofit corporation that has retained former CO Supreme Court Justice Jean Dubofsky and Doug Friednash to represent seven plaintiffs in a constitutional challenge to 41.

The attorneys filed a complaint in Denver Dist. Court asserting that 41 violates certain fundamental rights including, the right to free speech, freedom of association, freedom to petition government and unlawfully interferes with private contracts. In addition, the complaint contends that 41 is unconstitutionally vague and violates Colorado's single subject rule.

katy's reply It's important to remember that, prior to passage of 41, Colorado already had a number of statutes regulating ethical behavior. One statute subjects public officers, members of the general assebly, local government officials, or an employee whose conduct departs from his or her fiduciary duty liable to the people of Colorado.

If folks want tougher ethics laws, the statutes are the right place to put them.

It's impossible to predict the cost of our legal challenge. It all depends on how far the district court decision is appealed.

I do NOT UNDERSTAND - WHY oh why is this "fun"? I read elsewhere that these guys "had nothing better to do".

I couldn't read this story in the paper, yet couldn't NOT read it either - and much to everyone's disappointment in the office I did and I got upset as I always do. Can't help it. It's simply unimaginable. I thought of Scruffy all weekend as I loved my cat Ellie and the stray outside that won't quite let me touch him yet.

I agree with Glen's idea of punishment. I am not a very assertive person BUT when it comes to animals - look out. I would love to see these two doused with lighter fluid and set afire - I'd gladly toss the match. I'd drive in to the city from CT on a day that I had "nothing better to do".

I do feel a bit better thinking of Scruffy up there sharing some lobster and catnip with some of my old friends Kelly, Callie, Andy and George (to name a few)...

Excuse me the 16 year old was one of my friends and I guarantee you it was one hundred percent consentual (btw- if you're going to try to insult me, at least use spell check!). Her MOTHER was the one that made her tell the police they had sex. Kyle is one of the most kind-hearted, wholesome, good-spirited people I know! He is not capable of doing anything like this. He and I have been through so much straight up shit together and I will always have his back, cause I know he'll always have mine. I love that kid :)

David I., let me tell you from personal experience, Kyle was an irresistable person. Girls would flock to him like a moth to a flame. To this day, I don't always understand why. And for majority of the girls that hung out with him, they were friends of mine that came to OUR apartment to see ME. Little did I know, that later they would be accusing MY KYLE of such horrible things. I have been there everytime he has even been around any of my girls and I can tell you that 2 of the alleged "incidents" did NOT happen, the 3rd was completely consentual- they had been dating and both agree that it was probably the healthiest relationship they were ever in. Kyle is a good person, and I don't doubt that he's ever made a mistake in his life but RAPING UNDERAGE GIRLS IS NOT ONE OF THEM! Kyle, you're in my prayers and I can't wait to see you when you get out... Love ya!

FYI- Kyle is getting bailed out within a couple months. Lets see if any of you can actually say how you feel to his face

Ah, I'm so happy someone finally said it! I can't stand the stupid things and all it feels like is a popularity contest between tweens and twenty-somethings... it's like a bad case of high school all over again.

And don't even get me started on the junk these people throw on their personal pages. It's all beyond me as to why it's so popular. . .

Recently I signed up with Stumble Upon. Perhaps I should do more looking into it and become active. If it works and provides great connections, I'm game. If it's another over-done popularity contest, I'm so going to fail.
