He said the reason cabbies don't like using credit cards is because the cycle takes up to 2 weeks for cab companies to pay their drivers on fares received through credit cards. These reimbursements are part of their meager bi-weekly paychecks, which I believe equate to that of a food server...well below minimum, with the expectation of gratuities comprising a majority of their earnings. With the price of fuel, food, and living on the rise, most cabbies are living paycheck to paycheck, so not having that cash in hand at the end of your night means not having as much of a take at the end of your shift.

Re: James Siminoff

True story: once upon a time, a remarkably inept boss of mine linked up with me, then suggested we recommend each other, which is among the most ridiculous features on LinkedIn. How do you turn that down? I was forced to choose between my dignity and endorsing someone I felt was not worthy of recommendation to anyone I care about.

In the end, my integrity won out, and the writing went up on the wall, so I left that job four weeks later. His invitation still sits in my LinkedIn inbox or whatever they call it. I guess Linked In did serve a purpose, but I doubt career suicide was part of the Linked In business plan. I haven't used it since.

Boo peer to peer professional networks. We went back two weeks ago to pick one up and they were sold out of new ones, so they tried to sell us USED models for $2K over the new MSRP. After telling them several times I did not want a used car, ever, the salesman said something to the effect of, "Let me check with upper management..." then, "Okay, look, i've got some inside information on a shipment, maybe 1 or 2 cars coming in this week, that my managers told me about and not the other guys because you seem so intent to buy. So i'm gonna call you first thing in the morning at some point this week and you gotta come down here right away, or someone else might get it. But the catch, he said, is that it might not be the EXACT color or package you want and oh yeah, it's currently 5K over MSRP and could be 8K over MSRP by mid-week." After calling me three times with colors and packages that i was not interested in I told him, politely, to go f*ck himself sideways until prices are somewhere near reasonable and he can get me what I asked for.

Now, I love my V8 SUV.

Re: James Siminoff

It's the water in the dough, it's always the water! I have a really good, albeit unrefined idea and you've always seemed like the right person to share it with. Just haven't gotten around to it...remind me next time we chat.

Re: James Siminoff

This is getting really interesting!!

Re: James Siminoff

If i get my bike shipped out, can I come too? I'm confident he had peace in his heart with the joy of your brother's engagement and your recent achievements. His albums are awesome and it's cool that you'll be able to put them on whenever you want to spend some time with him. I wish you and your family comfort during this time.
