in Oh Dear, That Soon? on aiusepsi.co.uk
I'm finished. No more exams for me! Huzzah! I can relax and do absolutely nothing, safe in the knowledge that I have nothing to do!

I'm finished. And you're not.

:-p

(on a related note, hope they've gone well so far, and good luck with any imminent ones)

in Moffat is new Doctor Who showrunner! on aiusepsi.co.uk
That really is pretty damn cool. Maybe the next series won't have quite so much lameness, then. We can only hope...

Also, why is cool stuff on TV delayed by crap stuff?

aiusepsi *Shrugs*

Huge cosmic practical joke to shove all the TV I want to watch past my first exam, I reckon.

Figure 10 looks like someone playing Guyball...

Probably a good job they patented it. Don't want anyone stealing their invention...

in Random Stuff: Coldplay And Live Mesh on aiusepsi.co.uk
Ugh, Coldplay...

Live Mesh sounds pretty cool though, and not just on the level of keeping up-to-date files on all my PCs. That thing with Facebook is pretty clever.

Also, Feedreader didnt pick up these last couple of entries off your feed. Weird, and annoying.

Yeah, Doctor Who. The ep wasnt bad, but you're not wrong about the dialogue. Also, Catherine Tate shreiking all the bloody time. Thats really starting to grate.

Oh, and I may be wrong, but I think Vesuvius erupted in the wrong way. IIRC it takes hours before a pyroclastic flow happens.

in Unexpected Victory on aiusepsi.co.uk
Nah, you did the better job on the day, you deserve the win :) I was just pretty lame. My fastest lap this race was like 2 seconds slower than last race, and even my average lap time in the last race was quicker than my fastest lap this race...

I've got the medal thing though :-p

Anyway, round 3 over summer. I'll look into going to an outdoor track. Hopefully we can use faster Karts then...

in Concious of a vast, numbing stupidity on aiusepsi.co.uk
Both things leave me pretty speechless. A commenter on one of the things on the Live! site describes the NUS as full of "ridiculous loony leftists from dog-s**t ex-polys trying desperately to add something to their pitiful CVs". Truth.

And just too much mind-numbing idiocy to even comment on in the video. That there are people like that in the world scares me...

There are trains worse than Virgin trains, Lucy. Much worse...

Oh, and Zombiepocalypse. Zombies can't run, whereas robots have lasers, supervolcanoes sound pretty bad, nuclear annihilation stings somewhat and I'll have to put sun cream on all the bloody time if global warming happens much more.

Also, I thought birds flu around anyway?

in If only he’d played in Soho. on aiusepsi.co.uk
Yup, agreed. Only I think Re: Your Brains has to be mentioned as a highlight. "Can you try and sound a little less like a Viennese choir, and a little more like a bunch of zombies? Thanks"

I've mostly been listening to his music since the gig, as well. Actually, I've only just managed to put something else on, and its the Billy Bragg song he covered...

I should really read some Heinlein...

Also, I think thats what's saddest about Clarke's death; there doesnt seem to be anyone there writing to the same level as Clarke/Asimov. Their writing made thousands of people interested in science; got us thinking, got us dreaming... Who is doing that now?

in FYI, You’re All Gonna Die Screaming on aiusepsi.co.uk
Mashing up "By the Way"... The thing I find is that whenever someone does anything to music by someone I like, I automatically think its shit. Even if it's good (although it rarely is). Although I'm not sure why you'd want to mash up By The Way, it's pretty damn good as it is.

I agree with the IE8 thing. I'm running it in "Emulate IE7" mode, cos I cba to work out how to roll it back...

Staying off msn for no reason is weird. Especially when you're online on Friends on Steam :-P

Good buy with the Kubrick thing (although not too keen on FMJ... and never seen Eyes Wide Shut). Incidentally you seen the interview Tom Cruise did about Scientology? The one they tried to remove from the Net? Pretty weird stuff.

Also, why am I the only one who ever comments here?

Fantastically clever from Microsoft. Get people using their stuff now, more likely they'll carry on using it later on. Fantastic.

i meant that it's *not* necessarily elitist...

in The Asus Eee, a few days on on aiusepsi.co.uk
"What I dislike about systems like Linux, about technology like the Asus Eee (from the sounds of it), is that they are made unnecessarily inaccesible to the vast majority of computer users "

To be fair to the Eee, it *is* pretty accessible to anyone. The stock user interface is really intuitive, its just that Andy and I want to do something that the stock UI wont let us do (which it really *should* do, but that's beside the point), and for that you have to jump to tweaking the version of Linux the Eee runs.

The thing with Linux isnt that its necessarily "elitist", its just that its only really made and used by techies, people who know how to (and/or enjoy) tweak the system to do what they want. There's not really been a version of Linux, that I know of, that's been made to Just Work in the same way that Windows does. You use Linux because you want to; you use Windows because it does the job.

in The Asus Eee, a few days on on aiusepsi.co.uk
Yeah, Linux does seem to be the weak point. I've realised how much I love the way that Windows Just Works; you don't have to spend half an hour configuring things through the command line to get it to work.

I'm with you though in wanting to use Linux, because I think it's more suited to the eee than WinXP. But Windows is looking more and more tempting the more I think about it...

Yeah, Radiohead are good. I'm not sure if I'd go so far as to say "brilliant" - there are albums that do 'bleak' and/or 'Orwellian' better, if thats what you want - but definitely one of the better bands of the 90s/present. I shall be buying In Rainbows on CD at some point.

in The Importance of Signage on aiusepsi.co.uk
"there is no actual street called Bond Street" - Google Maps says otherwise... (and I don't just mean Old/New Bond Streets either):-P

Anyway, I was in Bristol earlier, and trying to get around there was pretty interesting. No maps anywhere, poor signage, and the buses had no indication of where they stopped at all. We just had to kinda guess, and hope we ended up in the right place. Frustrating.

With regards Birmingham, it could do with better public transport full stop, let alone better public transport info...

Yeah, I so know what you mean. £189 seems a bit steep though (even if i had money). It's dangerously close to the cost of some grown-up laptops.

in Oh, he must have felt stupid. on aiusepsi.co.uk
The person who recorded the video was playing as a spy, meaning they can disguise themself as a member of the other team. The other person is a medic from the other team, and the blue ray means that the medic is healing him.

Does that help?
