in Disqus Wordpress Integration: Javascript vs API on Jangro
I did remove disqus because it was crashing Internet Explorer on a few posts here on my blog that have over 1000 comments.
I've spoken to the guys at Disqus and they're working on it. As soon as it is fixed, I'll gladly put it back.

Seriously Sherry?
I wrote every word in this post. And of all the reviews you may have seen, this one shows actual commissions earned in a screenshot. How can you say I didn't test-drive it?

Winters in New England always put a damper on the workouts, but I'm back at it now.
I like food too much to ever be a shining adonis, but I do ok. :)

in How To Replace the Color Wheel in Your Samsung DLP Television and Save $400 on Jangro
@Mick, The noise comes from the wheel spinning fast, but the bearings grinding. If your wheel isn't spinning at all and/or the color pieces are broken off, that might explain what you're seeing.
@JC, yeah, pretty much points to the color wheel. A fan being bad wouldn't affect color. And usually the TV detects when a fan is bad and puts a message on the screen.

Ron, I'm going to start out saying that it's almost certainly the colorwheel. I've actually never heard of a buzzing ballast, not that it isn't possible.
But short of taking the TV apart, the easiest way to test is to listen while turning off the TV.
The color wheel is just that a wheel, spinning at thousands of RPM. It takes a few seconds to stop after you turn off the TV.
So, get behind the TV and listen carefully while powering down. If it sounds like the screaming is winding down to a stop after the power is off, then that points to the color wheel.

Dale, 99% of the time problems after a CW change is caused by not getting all wires put back properly.
I'd take it apart again and check every cable you can find, starting with the ones you actually touched, and then other nearby cables that may have been removed accidentally.
Make sure the CW ribbon cable is put back in the right direction.

You do recall correctly, Pat. It was disdain.
Maybe this love story will make the big screen someday.
I think I was taking Twitter too literally back then with the question it was (and still is) asking, "What are you doing?"
Also, back then the people I wanted to follow (related to Brian's Affiliate Summit experiment) were being really annoying with it. Most of them have since figured out how to toe the line. ;)
Anyway, a year has passed and the usage has seriously matured, and my attitude has changed. (obviously)

Looking at that list, I'd say it's not sample of typical anything, except maybe spammers. ;)
I do hope you're right, Jeremy, but I'd say that it's not out of the realm of possibility that Twitter gets a whole lot less "simple" as they become more mainstream, change management, get bought, etc. etc.

"I had the same problem, and Samsung provided the DMD board while I paid the labor cost ($300), and thought it was fair . I would keep at them. They know this model has this problem.

Joe, check to make sure everything is back in place, e.g. the unit slid back in the whole way, the lens completely inside the foam sheath, anything that could contribute to the projected light getting blocked.
My money is on the foam sheath covering part of the lens.

Jitendra,
Thanks for the info. What I found with my personal investigation of disqus differs from what both of you guys are saying. Clearly I need to take a much closer look, which I'll do soon.

Hey G.
No reason for the switch other than to check out Viddler since I saw them with this video comment thing and some big video bloggers are using it, like iJustine and Gary Vaynerchuk from WineLibrary.tv.
I'm pretty much still feeling my way around all this stuff. I'll write up a review of the different ones I try, though I like them both a lot, so I don't know how many more I need to try out.

@Kyle, yeah, I should have mentioned co.comment. I've tried that as well, didn't like it much. It's probably been a year though, so they may have made improvements.
How to get people to comment? That's sort of the big question. I don't really know. I'd say it first requires a sizable reader base, then the comments will come.
@Isaac, thanks for the clarification. I guess I could have been more clear in the differentiation. Yes, for both Intense Debate and Disqus, the comments are not stored in the database, but I think with Disqus, when using the WP plugin, they're loaded on the server side and displayed in HTML.
If I read correctly (I fully admit I haven't tried it yet) Intense Debase loads the comments via JS on the client.
The difference is that Disqus comments will be visible to search engines, Intense Debate comments will not.
The Intense Debate migration tools do sound much better developed.
I look forward to giving it a try, but unfortuntely it won't work with the video comments I just installed.

Good question, Peter.
It's difficult to take a look specifically at twitter and assign direct impact that it has on anything.
It's more of a part of a bigger strategy of just "being out there". It's a personal branding tool, and with it, I've got the attention of dozens of people I never would have otherwise.
Who are these dozens of people and how do they help me? Again, difficult to quantify. The intangible benefits build up over time. But like having 500 subscribers on this blog that I reach with every blog post, I've got hundreds of people on twitter that I can reach with a simple "tweet".
I'll stop there before I write what should be a new blog post. ;)

Yeah, that's the group functionality I was talking about that lots of people seem to want, but the twitter guys haven't implemented.
I don't know if they have plans to do that. In the meantime, it's a free for all. Don't worry about it... tweet away!

Broke the embargo? or heard from an insider?
Sam, you think Valleywag got a call from Ardis? I doubt it.
I don't know Jim, we'll see. I was going to mix some music in there. "Shipping up to Boston" by Dropkick Murphys, but it started to eat into my day too much. Baby steps.
James, thanks much. I've been watching these guys with their different techniques wondering what I could do. And actually, I've been thinking an video executive summary of my admittedly long posts might be a good thing.
