You may have tried staying behind the scenes, but I've actually stumbled upon your blog quite a bit - mainly from articles submitted to Sphinn. I love the work that you do here. Very informative and easy going at the same time.

I noticed that you're on a bunch of panels at Blog World... expect that behind the scenes thing to go out the window after this weekend. Thanks for including me on this list. I'm glad you enjoyed my post about "pumping up your blog comments". Judging from all of the feedback on this post, it looks like you're doing a very good job with it.

It might also be a good idea for you to install the Threaded Comments plugin instead of using the @ sign to reply. Not only does it make your comments easier to follow, but it significantly increases your comment counts as well.

Hey Peter,
These are some great tips to get some high-quality backlinks. However, I'm a big proponent of getting links that aren't easily replicated by competitors (i.e. links that come from high-quality content and thus give you a much greater competitive advantage). Honestly, the value of these links go down as more people know about them.

Well quite frankly, because we can. Social relationships are becoming increasingly important in this Internet age and in order to reach our target audiences (who happen to be online) all of these tools and processes are crucial.

Sure, millions of people live fine without being on the Internet, but that will change in the coming years. Nothing has ever connected people like the Internet and adoption will continue to increase.

People used to live by candle light back in the dark ages and they did just "fine". But why would we go back?

I watched the video on YouTube and it was pretty disturbing (especially since I am Korean and dry cleaning is a common stereotype). I also watched some of Jawbone's other commercials and they were all pretty similar - shocking and in most cases inappropriate. I think they could have promoted the product in so many better ways than the way they are doing now.

Thanks for the plug. I think you bring up an interesting point. Blog can only make so much money given the ad space constraints and the time requirements to pump out quality content. $30,000 a month is not pocket change but at a certain point the steep rate of growth will have to level off. Nice post. I'm glad that my article was useful for you - it's good food for thought. As for your blog, I think you can do a lot better focusing on affiliate marketing rather than putting up ads at this point. Work on building your readership and increasing your influence. You'll then have a lot more pull and you can potentially create your own stuff. Good luck!
