in Why Bigger Goals = Less Competition (Plus: Major Media Opp) on The Blog of Author Tim Ferriss
Being a bipolar entrepreneur, I find only my (ridiculously) big ideas motivate me. The question is how to capitalize on my bipolar high and actually get traction. My link is to my blog post where I use techniques I learned from Tim to do this.

used Tim's plan...
in 3 months I took myself from 130#, 5'11" (formerly competetive in running and cycling -endurance, hill climbs etc, but lazy for last several years, so pretty weak)
to 150# mass, with 195# benchpress and 630# legpress for 1 rep (600# for 4 reps).
maximized my BIPOLAR condition using a visualization technique to push the big weight.

I think my profile page on the BigLife.ws site is a perfect example of what you are talking about. I can cname any domain name directly to it. It's a nice blend of personal and business and it's on a social network which is a good fit for me. Having it on BigLife.ws means I get good pagerank too for any keywords I have on my page. I haven't yet pasted a twitter or friendfeed widget on there but plan to.

wow! this is EXACTLY what I have been discovering as I'm working for balance in my own work/life. The jazz quartet example really hits home. I've been starting to do some work projects in my local community, that actually qualify as family time too. It's a nice overlap! this is really reassuring that i'm on the right track! will get the book!

in Time Management Guru-itis: Mark Hurst vs. David Allen and Tim Ferriss on The Blog of Author Tim Ferriss
since reading and applying 4hww, the thing that paid off most was the 80/20 rule. Very simply doing more of the important stuff and simply not doing so much of the seemingly necessary (but not) stuff is what has moved me ahead (about 400% faster than same time last year!). Don't know what GTD and Mark Hurst say about the 80/20.
Thanks again Tim!

the theories here apply to hiring a virtual assistant too. What I discovered is I first needed to do every assigned task myself first and measure how long it took. Then I could pay my VA by the task. When I paid my VA by the hour I paid over double what I pay them now, by the task.

in How to Stop Checking E-mail on the Evenings and Weekends on The Blog of Author Tim Ferriss
so Tim, what is your latest project manager or organizer software or CRM? Do you use a PDA? Any recommendations?
I'm afraid you're going to say to minimize the info intake to the point I don't need these tools, but I think a CRM is much better than just email since I can see the history of anyone I deal with, all in one spot. And with project management software I can update a to-do list for employees and clients rather than random emails where I have to restate the main topic first.
as always, your insights are valued!

Hi Victory,
I use a Palm Z22 for contacts and address book, and I use Google Docs and PBWiki for sharing documents, which acts as my CRM (or project management) tool.
Hope that helps!

*** Could we do a USER SURVEY of CRM's? ***
Hi Tim,
(yes I am trying to reduce the info! but with what remains...) I think CRM's and project management software is important for any entrepreneur with multiple projects or employees. I've tried a bunch I'm not happy with. Just going to test Basecamp and Highrise now. I searched your blog for related terms and didn't find anything.
Remember the survey on OUTSOURCING SERVICES you did? It sucked! ;) If you do one for contact managers we need a thumbs up/down vote... not just thumbs up! Maybe we could redo that one too while we're at it.
Thanks Tim!
p.s.
I just bought a fresh copy of the book (for PBJ) and i'm having many "repiphanies" and getting even more out of it than when I first read it. My wife and I decided that we are going to start the traveling lifestyle end of March. ...and we have a 5 month old boy! So I'm doing a hardcore revamp of my online businesses to get them more automated and getting some better quality virtual help. Will I see you at SXSW? I'm 87% sure I'm going.

this crew of trained professionals will teach you how to pickup the ladies at bars and grocery stores (also teach ladies how to pickup men or be picked up)
If you speed thru the online sample videos you might even snag a GF in time for Vday. www.AskRomeo.com
The concept is outrageous and yet leaves me thinking, how much further we'd all be if we had this kind of social training for a semester of high school.

hey Tim,
have you assessed your reader demographics? Judging by this car racing post and your last one with all the MACHINE GUNS, let's hope the majority of 4hww followers aren't PEDESTRIAN PACIFISTS. Then again, this may all factor into your "controversy" part of your PR methods.
In defense of Alex Roy, few accidents are caused by serious driving enthusiasts who choose to speed, it's from speeders who are basic idiots, usually with alcohol involved, and road ragers, and even more so by general inattentiveness while driving.
When I used to do 280 km/h on my Triumph Daytona I made a point to never fiddle with my music at the same time!
And the condition of many cars involved in accidents is ridiculous. Bad brakes, suspension, tires. They should have never been on the road in the first place. An enthusiast maintains his machine like a real race car.
besides all that...
HIS KEY TO SUCCESS WASN'T SPEEDING
In the video he notes preparation, planning, the two GPS units, minimal gas stops, and being stealthy (not driving like an idiot). He specifically mentions not weaving through traffic. Even at 300km/h nobody else is in danger when you are the only one on a straight stretch of highway.

Good point, Victory. The cars and guns aren't a big part of my life, but I am interested in some weird and -- sometimes -- controversial stuff. My interests run far and wide. Especially after Robert Scoble and others has lamented how blogs now seem to be written by cyborgs (becoming dry and without personality), I'm trying to keep this blog an accurate reflection of who I am. I am not pro-war but I do like shooting targets, and I'm not pro-accidents, though I do like racing bikes at Infineon Raceway and elsewhere.
I think it's easy to overanalyze demographics and you end up trying to appeal to everyone, which makes the writing really bland. I'd rather cross the line occasionally, and I'm happy to face the heat for it :)
Thanks for the good comment!

I love the comment by John above because it shows you really are "dividing the camps" Tim. For anyone who read Tim's advice and took it for granted, you should realize the majority of the world not only doesn't think this way, they would think that TEACHING YOUR KIDS TIM'S CONCEPTS IS WRONG!
TIM, THIS IS WHERE YOU REALLY CROSS THE LINE!
"Make this trade a habit. Let the small bad things happen and make the big good things happen."
This isn't about finding more time, IT'S ABOUT STEALING time from one thing to give it to another. And you are allowing something bad to happen in the process. Stating it this way there is no longer any gray area. I can keep doing the unimportant list of to-do's and sacrifice any future potential I have at getting my big project done (click my name if you want to see my plan to REVOLUTIONIZE HIGH SCHOOL PUBLIC EDUCATION!)
I can tell you from my own experience that trying to get it ALL right, all the tasks done, all the customer's happy, means you will never grow nearly as big as you could, and that means less people enjoy your quality product or service.
All the 4HWW wisdom I've applied so far has paid off, so I guess I'll jump right in on this one! thanks Tim!

in The Karmic Capitalist: Should I Wait Until I’m Rich to Give Back? (Plus: Auction and Tim Q&A via phone) on The Blog of Author Tim Ferriss
Tim, giving back NOW is exactly what www.WorldVisionEntrepreneurs.org is all about. Rather than the average Joe attempting to be a philanthropist working at his J.O.B. then making charitable donations, we teach how "YOU CAN GET PAID TO SAVE THE WORLD".
This is a monthly series of webcam interviews I have started (final edits done this Monday!) with:
-people who created greenery to cover the entire sides of city buildings
-a spokesperson from TheElders.org (Richard Branson, Peter Gabriel, Nelson Mandela, Graça Machel)
-leaders in the development of web social networking tools like Ning and the new Flock social browser
-Herbert Harris author of "12 Universal Laws of Success"
A strong argument can be made for "SAVE YOURSELF FIRST before you try to save the world", but why not create a business you love, based on a niche you are passionate about, and save the world along the way.
The interview series will be distributed to high schools across North America for free starting in November (and available on Amazon.com, which is how I get paid!). Additionally $7 from each DVD goes to an Entrepreneurship Micro-loan charity.
p.s. I'll set my goal for the "Most students impacted" award. The recognition by Yahoo will go a long way to further promote this project!
p.p.s. I just sent payment for the PR teleseminar! Really looking forward to finally speaking in person!

in The Top 5 Reasons to Be a Jack of All Trades on The Blog of Author Tim Ferriss
WIKTIONARY:
higher education (uncountable)
1. University education or higher.
2. Continued education after the point at which attendance of an educational institution is no longer compulsory.
Isn't the exploring we do online, or a marketing program from a guru like Mark Joyner, Rich Schefren, Eben Pagan, or Dan Kennedy even higher than that?
This post is really empowering for me and for my students/clients. I always hated that "jack of all trades" expression!
DOWN WITH THE "FORMAL HIGHER EDUCATION SYSTEM"!

Here's my PALM UP NETWORKING OFFER (brilliant advice so I'm going to give it a try!) I have a Ning site which is an open platform for niche topic networking. (Ning staff have said it's one of the best examples on Ning of this concept.) I would like to offer a reader here the opportunity to admin my 4HWW group.
Also opportunities for some to suggest their own group to admin. Ad revenue is shared and SEO/SEM benefits are huge. See for yourself, Google search: 4HWW entrepreneur
You will see we are positions 1,2,3,4,5 on page 1.
While you are there, check out my "World Vision Entrepreneur" project. There's big reciprocal benefits for anybody who wants to help promote it.
You will see the 4HWW philosophy and techniques have been infused into both of these projects!
~Victory (click my Name above for the link)
p.s. Thanks Tim for turning me on to Ning in the first place, and for letting my use my posts here for 15 seconds on the soapbox!

B&N is only $14 for the hardcover! What a bargain.
I'll take u up on the 10 deal.
QUESTION: Can I post this Canfield interview on my NING?
Linkedin-Entrepreneurs.com/group/4HWW or is this "for our eyes only"?
Also, since nobody has said it, COCA-COLA gets my vote! Strangely enough I only truly discovered it 4 years ago (age 32), never enjoyed it up to that point. Tastebud shift?
I love the Red Bull commercials but I can't understand how anyone could drink it straight being sooo sweet! And the Thai real version is even sweeter? Does it really have ephedrine (Mau Haung?)
My wife is Japanese and still gets monthly shipments from her mom of all her fave foods and teas that she can't get here. So her vote is for the green tea named after some dragon.
