I think you should've dropped post level link ads way earlier. Atleast you did it now :)

I always notice a slight increase in traffic before the toolbar PR update. It happened with my previous blog, and also with Killer Tech Tips.

And then traffic shoots up in the weeks ahead, I'm expecting the same this time too. I only hope PR 6 stays :D

The theme looks great for your blog, but as you said it's not proper in IE6.
Try adding the overflow: hidden property to the content class.. see if it helps :)

I've been using Google Desktop over a year and I must say it has proved very useful to me.

Of course, the gadgets are the best part and they eliminate the need of using multiple software/web apps - I always have a Todolist gadget on there and I don't use anything else for that purpose. There are plenty of productivity tools for GDS and that defeats the purpose of installing standalone windows apps.

Another thing that I like about GDS is that it indexes all the web pages that I visit. In case my net connection is down, I can spend some time reading the cached web pages offline ;)

GDS also acts as a launcher. Been using Launchy, but ditched it for GDS.

Pretty awesome program, I'd recommend it to anyone who uses a PC regularly.

You're right. Twitter killed comments.

Twitter killed links too. Not so long ago, people used to share what they read in their blogs. That meant links. Link juice. Bloggers loved this and arguably our position in Google SERPs went up.

Today, there's Twitter for sharing. All these are tinyurls that pass no link juice. All of these are nofollowed.

Twitter is great for a plethora of things. Cannot be disputed.

But what should also be considered is that it is becoming a cannibal of the web's link graph: http://www.seobook.com/how-twitter-can-be-corro...

Some people copy posts blatantly using RSS feeds as their source with the help of automated mechanisms. If the post permalink is present in the post itself, the plagiarised post will have the same link, and one can easily track down such sites because a trackback gets sent.

Good write up. It's one of the best softwares MS has ever made ;) The rate of development is pretty good as well. It was initially buggy and prone to crashes, but it no longer is.

WLW has saved me hours of time and frustration. I just can't stand the WordPress interface when uploading photos and other media for some reason whereas I'm quite cool with WLW when doing the same.

I'm just loving this IM client. It's brilliant, and super cool.
I love the feature that lets me email my buddies right from the window itself, instead of opening a new browser window. That saves a lot of frustration + time.

The best part is that it doesn't consume a lot of resources (considering that it has loads of features).

I'm waiting for the day they'll add more skins ;)

Hey, that's a good post.

I have FileZilla installed here, I have no complaints about that one.
But I tend to use the FireFTP extension a lot since I spend more time on Firefox.

I don't like ScribeFire personally, instead I use Windows Live Writer.

FastStone Capture is a great tool, and it comes free of cost. That's a plus. SnagIt is the best, but you have to pay for it. Thank God I grabbed a copy of SnagIt when they offered it for no cost a few weeks ago. :)

That's a good tool. I use something called SysMeter, it's too light and just sits in the system tray displaying stats there itself.

No windows, nothing. The tool itself uses very less memory and it's more than sufficient for me :)

Well, in my opinion: I found the new player lovely. I need not wait for a new page to load to play the video. As far as they don't insert ads in those thumbnails, I happy with the new player. ;)

It's so elegant and loads fast, but consumes tooo much memory. "Safari doesnâ€™t have a status bar" Can't the status bar be turned on from the view menu? Isn't it there, Thilak?

Yahoo Mail is a bit annoying with ads and stuff, but though Gmail has also got ads, they're minimal and are easily ignored.
