in 5 Ways to Get Lots of Non Google Traffic on John Cow dot COM
I think I rely too much on Google for my traffic. Currently they provide about 50% of all the traffic to sites.

Gives me something to think about.

in Digg’s Lack of Ad Targeting is Hurting Revenue on Marketing Pilgrim
How the hell do you bring in almost $5 million and still end up losing almost $3 million. Where are the costs for Digg? Servers and bandwidth? How much are they paying their employees?

20 million uniques a month and you can't turn a profit. That's ridiculous.

in 5 Reasons Why Not to Be Shocked by Microsoft Layoffs on Marketing Pilgrim
Big companies as a whole need to scale back if they want to survive the recession. The company I work for is now realizing this as well and are reluctantly cutting this week.

As for the gaming system part, I agree with Dan that the target markets are very different. I'm a Wii guy. I do like Xbox and PS3 but the wii is something my kids and I can play together. It's more active and just fun to play.

in Who’ll Leave Google First? Marissa Mayer or Matt Cutts? on Marketing Pilgrim
I think Matt has what it takes to start something on his own. Both are probably "well off" with their Google shares plus I don't think they are working for peanuts either.

Matt will go first.

in Holiday Online Sales Dip for First Time on Marketing Pilgrim
Looking at my own spending habits, my online purchases were way down and my general spending overall was much less this year.

I am an Amazon associate (for some of my sites) and my commissions were up quite a bit 20% over last year.

in Make Extra Money with Adsense on Pingable
Great 5 tips. It really is as simple as that and I'm sometimes amazed and the amount of sites trying to sell the secrets of adsense.

50,000 spam comments that is crazy. I also do follow and I'm only at 4,000.

Good luck with the new blog. New Zealand may be a small market but it is an active one.

Does anyone know how to turn on do follow are a certain number of comments?

in Blogrush is Dead - And A Good Lesson Too on John Cow dot COM
My site was dropped from blogrush after the first round of cuts that they did last year ( I didn't have 10 posts up at the time) so I never really had a whole lot of experience with the program.

I will say that I have a lot of respect for John for at least trying something like this as well as being able to admit that it has failed.

Maybe something bigger and better will come from the lessons learned about blogrush.

Maybe you should make this your side business. Busting fraudulent money making schemes.

I wonder just how many people he has managed to sign up?

in The Middle Finger to Unrealistic Fitness Advice on Natural Bodybuilding with Marc David
Hey Marc,

I agree with you on the unrealistic advice. That is something I try to avoid as much as possible. My advice is based on my own expereicnes so they are at least realistic to me. I consider myself to be an average guy and that is who I write for.

I actually just put up a post earlier today on moderation. check it out. I don't avoid any foods (drinks included), I can only handle so much chicken and vegetables.

Hopefully you wouldn't group me into the unrealistic advice catergory.

Take Care,
Steve
