in SolidWorks Tip: 5 Ways to Use Treehouse to Speed Assembly Design on SolidSmack
This looks like a Visio org chart that can read/write custom properties in SolidWorks files (uh, does this already exist?). Except Visio can display a lot more information in a more compact and legible format. Eventually you can add bitmaps of the parts to each box as well (in visio I mean).
Treehouse does automatically create blank SolidWorks files (and assy structure templates). Great, but I just learned the glory of Virtual Parts for minimizing baggage during the rapidly evolving concept phase!!!

good point, the virtual parts are awesome. I'm hoping treehouse will bring in that option as well. a 'Keep parts virtual' options. NICE.

in New SolidWorks Labs Application - TreeHouse on The SolidWorks Geek
Thanks for the explanations!
I think the icon should be very wide and low, to display more of a practial filename.
I would like it to run in reverse, make a diagram of my existing assembly (I know there's an application for this already out there, it was fairly expensive though).
Now I'm torn... I'm starting to really like the Virtual Components for concept work, yet the tree thing would be pretty helpful to the design/mfg team... and the two methods are not compatible.
I look forward to trying it out though.

Furthermore, when I have made ERs at meetings, it's common that others chime in with BETTER solutions to the same problem, or at least "enhancements" to my Enhancement Requests...
