I run full versions of anit virus and have my router and my computer behind firewalls. I I scan with both Ad-Aware and SuperAntiSpyware. Every once in awhile something sneaks by - usually my bad caused by clicking the wrong button.

The lastest emails that have gotten by my spam guard have the title "your photo". I assume this is to lure me in thinking it relates to Flickr - I dunno and I sure did not open it to find out.

With all the virus variants and bored folks out there creating them I sometimes wonder if crossing my fingers for luck is not one of my better defenses.

And now I can rant on LOL. This IS the reason kmilyun has decided to move to a new host and new domain and NOT be prime time live.

My situation is easy - I really have not built a great blog following nor do I have a website up right now. If I choose to I can take it all down and wait for th site cache to dissappper. Then I am only left with - Hello! everyone can goo gle me send me junk mail. My mind is a in a framework of paranoid thoughts - what if someone really decided that something I wrote was worth knocking on my front door?

What once was a fun grass roots type cyber world is now just another area to be guarded and wary of. I do not care if the government knows who I am since I have nothing to hide. It annoys me on the "freedom" level but I don't stress over it. I do stress over any tom dick or Mary can punch of few keys and know where I live and get my freakin phone number! Gheezzz.

I don't like having to censor what I write.

The link you mention did work for me - it brought up another list of services to go try and get removed from LOL. Unfortunately this one wiki WHOIS could go away and the info would still be out there for years to come. I can remove the site and wait for everything cached to dissappear but who kmilyun is and where kmilyun lives will still be public info.

Perhaps Kmilyun will slowely fade into the sunset and as you know (and I add only you at this point know what it is) a new identity will take her place in cyber land. Fear not you are always welcome to have a blog on my space where you can blog away using a different name if you truly need to vent :)

I always try to put things in perspective with "One God Many Paths". Not that I think that Scientology is a viable path. I noted when back south that some "Evangelists" were actually there to help and lead by example while others where there to use the opportunity to push their beliefs and used it as condition of their offering help.

Defining religion, cults, folklore, and spiritualism, is difficult. When does a belief change into a religion and where is the line drawn that defines the move into full blown cultism? ( is that a word?). Are the Four Corners and the Great Spirit less true than the Jesus of Nazareth? What about the teachings of of Siddhartha Guatama?

My personal belief is that Scientology is a bunch of crap, a cult, and very dangerous.

I clear my emails once everyday unless I make it two. I only save emails that contain verifications for transactions and such. If they are really important I print em out and file them.

When I recieved 50 or so a day I moved them around into folders marked:
answer
save
friend
work

I did have one more but it was rather rude I suppose but telling:
Pest
this is where I placed the fowared messages that some friends send because they think I really need to know something.

Perhaps you should try the spam killer on the fleas and the flea killer on the spam? Best I could do at 3:11 in the morning. My blog get about 40 to 50 a day now - I consider it an honor since only 4-10 people actually visit it per day :)

I think spammers should be forced to provide thought provoking, on subject, comments. Not the boring loan, Viagra, and get rich quick stuff - yawn.

Well lets see emmm.... I was born here but I only have one form of legal picture ID - my drivers license. If I read that correct I will need two? No one took my picture when I was born LOL. I have no passport. I can see if I read this right I am in deep doo doo. Now three id's DL, SScard, and birth cert....

But the new ID would just be another form of ID that someone else could expoit. I guess I should go get a passport before the going gets tougher?

If the problem is a secure identity card how is using a birth certificate that may or not be accurate (mine is not as I am adopted - so it is altered) , a social security card that was issued based on info the person provided - the little form my mom helped me fill out years ago, and a Drivers License based upon the former two?

I was born here in California, I planned to die in California, I never have had the desire to leave the United States so I never got a passport. Next they will want us to get a micro chip like my dogs have.

Perhaps I should go to the local graveyard, write down a name, apply for a copy of the birth certificate, send off for a social security card, get a passport and a drivers license .... so my new electronic ID card will be accurate - anybody with a little time, research, and the desire to defraud, could still do this .. so what is the point?

Sounds like some progress has been made. The only common theme I found today searching under google and gmail was a trail of security problems and no easy access to any help/solution that usually appeared after an upgrade.

After all my problems when my sql password was changed - locking me out - I have really done all I can do at my end of the deal to protect myself. I no longer use IE I use Firefox. I use yahoo mail and thunderbird - never outlook. Anywhere that allows it I use long combination passwords - letters numbers and symbols - all random. The password thing has turned into such a cluster mess that I have committed the worst sin of all - oh my goodness- I have them written down here at my computer desk. I figure if someone breaks in and steals my computer and takes the time to find the passwords and use em I will deal with it. The chance of that is smaller than the chance of me remembering an eleven character password.

Hackers are __________ I am glad you have made some progress and hope you do get back all your mail.

I imagine once you have solved this issue and blog all the steps your ratings will increase - which in turn will probably bring on more hackers LOL it is a visous cycle.

You do realize that taking the time to: "if for no other reason than to have a series of steps on the blog for anyone else who might have this happen to them. I’m keeping screenshots and copies of my email so that I can create a complete record of what happened and when." Is a very non self centered thing to do and very much apart of "the big picture"

To get gmail to work did you have change the MX record in you DNS

The only thing of interest was on post mentioning that they thought they were hacked but after a cut and past of a long google system error message they person stated that it was an adsense proble. I did not bookmark it as there was no reason, solution, or explaination in the post.

When I get back from the doctors I will search on hope you all find a solution to the problem. I have never used gmail so my personal experience is zero.

I do understand the frustration - FRUSTRATION! AUGH and all that. How does Gmail store its passwords? emm

Having been through a similar but less distructive experience (a provider in my case) I understand the frustration of the circular email scam. I call it a scam because all emails led to nowhere or back to another email I already had used. It is a smoke screen - to hid the lack of service - or worse yet - security.

I have never signed up for any goo-gle options - something good happened this week :) luck wise.

I know you will keep us posted - I am off to yahoo and creative commons search about the new evil empire in the land of bits and bytes.

I have known of few mentally ill people that were convinced by a group to throw out their meds and they had the answer. Unfortunately the members were not Doctors. Two weeks and a few days later we were at a funeral - the minister that officiated was not from the anti med group.
