in Do brands belong on Twitter? Yes and no on Mathew's comments
Mark,
I agree with your post. Twitter, like the Millenial generation it primarily caters to, is about a dialogue in the back channel and not one-way communications.

I've seen tech company CEOs who simply think of Twitter as a very short press release. Unless it's an engaging, varied and relevant discussion, people will tune it out pretty quickly.

in Why Technorati Doesn’t Make Sense Anymore For Me on LucaFiligheddu.com
Great post Luca. It proves to me that leadership in the world of the web is fleeting, even for giants like Technorati. But, clearly it opens up an opportunity for a newer ranking company to fill the void. Postrank (AideRSS) looks at individual posts - perhaps they should add more Technorati type features?

in Five Missing Features Facebook Should Add to Become an Operating System on LucaFiligheddu.com
Great post.

I've been fascinated by Facebook for quite some time. They've done so much right and they are certainly on the cusp of going to the next level.

I would add one more thing to your list. There applications framework was a brilliant stroke, but unlike the iPhone, they haven't been successful in giving applications a way to monetize. That would help Facebook transition from mostly shallow and gimmicky applications to more truly useful, business-oriented ones as well. And people always follow the value.

in Is this what online news has come to? on Mathew's comments
Mathew,
I'm with you on that. And the problem you describe is even much worse on mobile phones with their small screen real estate. I'm guessing that a new generation of filtering technology will have to be invented (called, perhaps Needle - as in Haystack) to find wisdom amongst the noise.

in Psystar wants to force Apple to open up on Mathew's comments
Mathew,
Thanks for posting this. As MAC goes mainstream, I've been wondering this as well. Having recently bought a MacBook, I was struck by how much "price fixing" goes on. The price is always the same no matter where you go. I thought this was illegal independent of market share, but can only imagine that as MAC becomes a dominant player this will somehow get addressed either by competition or the regulators (or both).
