What a scary story! My only near-death experience was on a boat as well. but not nearly as exciting as yours! (Isn't watching turtles hatch a cool experience?!)

I didn't realize how rainy you get there in July! At least with a short summer season, you learn to appreciate it while it's there. Sounds like you make the most of it.

We've had rain almost every day here in the Northeast US for the past few weeks. I'm ready to get out and enjoy some sunshine ASAP.
