HAHAHA... an Ice Rink huh... amazing how easy it is to convince desperate people that such ideas are "good" ideas. I ASSURE you that the DLBA is NOT the only group in the city that has "ideas" to help turn downtown LB around... its just that the people that can get these types of big events done ONLY listen to organizations like the DLBA. I have been doing events in this city for 5 years or so, I have thousands of ideas, just like other actual "DOWNTOWN RESIDENTS", but no one listens to the actual people that LIVE in downtown... but that is going to change this year suckas.

HAHAHA... I love how no matter the topic, it seems Bill and his campaign ALWAYS find someway to work in the Island Sunfish Grill.... what was that? a WHOLE WHEEL OF CHEESE? Oh... no you mean a WHOLE BASKET OF FISH... wow thats quite impressive Bill.... im not even mad!! lol

Yeah, i was there... chillen in the back, tried to say "HI" to Gerry, my long time former neighbor, and was completely ignored... expected, even though im like 6'2" and was wearing a bright green and white jacket with plaid pants. I stayed through Bonnie speaking and yes... same old crap. Its amazing how much planning and thought go into these meetings and how little is actually accomplished. You dont need a 51 page study to see the problems... duh, just try ACTUALLY LIVING IN DOWNTOWN and associating with the actual "PEOPLE" of the city and not just the fat cat insiders.

well... I was right... just as I thought, another "Town Hall Meeting" where its most old windbags saying the same bullshit we have heard for 10 years... Try living the life of the "other 18%" and then tell me how you "feel their pain". Shit is weak and I am tired of business as usual in the LBC. When are people just going to say "FUCK YOU, STOP STEALING FROM US AND TREATING US LIKE SHIT BECAUSE WE ARE POOR" and not care if it is "politically correct".

All probably right about the outcome, I think I might check it out though... might be a good laugh! hehe

Im kinda sad that I put this nice commentary on this story and situation, yet almost all the rest of the feedback has nothing to do with this article, but just the publication in general. Then again I have never gotten much respect from the District, so I dont expect much either...

Hey all, my name is Shea and I run The Long Beach Party Project, www.LBPP.net , a Long Beach based entertainment & promotions company. I have promoted and hosted events at EVERY venue in Long Beach, ranging from hip hop, house, jazz, punk, rock, indie, electro, and many more. I have seen every type of crowd you could imagine, and what I have learned from promoting events in the LB is that **** like this can happen anywhere, anytime, any venue, any type of people. I have seen it ALL... I personally know the owner of the Rhythm Lounge and have done several events at his club. Eye Candy was obviously a problem as it WAS drawing in a crowd that does not live here and seems to have no respect for our city, and although that is how MOST clubs work, ie. hollywood, LA, etc, the fact is they come to Long Beach because its cheaper and you can get away with alot more. All these issues are interconnected, the club owners cant charge $20 and require upscale attire, when the customers are just not there. The customers are not there because the businesses that attract an upscale patron, who goes to LA instead, are not here. Upscale businesses are NOT attracted to this location because although DT Long Beach has built a **** LOAD of brand new high-priced condos NO ONE IS IN THEM! With no high-paying customers around, business owners on pine are forced to do what they can to stay open. Every related element to this story has some blame to take, but what it comes down to is the people. There is an AWESOME and very respectful musical crowd in Long Beach that tries VERY hard to curtail these problems by doing positive events and things in our community, the problem is getting them to pine and getting all the people that DO have a passion for this city down to these great events for support, because without the people nothing works...

wow... all i can say is WELL DONE. All this info for zero dollars, you would think the city council would jump at it. As insightful and through as this info is, its sad that it will probably fall on def ears. I say we take city hall by way of BLOODY COUP!!!!

IM DOWN! I like that place, yeah its not five star, and yes i made the same mistake with the bland Buddhas Delight and Kung Pao before, but the thing with Chens is you gotta know what to order. Some dishes are complete crap while others are uber tasty. I think it takes a couple of visits before you realize what fits your fancy.
