in Which Tedford Team Was Your Favorite? on Bears Necessity
I pretty much think everyone agrees, 2002 and 2004 were far and away the most enjoyable Tedford teams. The 2002 team was enjoyable because there were no expectations and they performed so well. The 2004 team was enjoyable because, at least in the regular season, the team was able to match the high expectations everyone placed on them. All of that said, my favorite game is the 2003 upset of USC.

Agreed on Roll On You Bears, agreed on not booing, and agreed on not missing games. However, as much as I hate the Furd, part of me was rooting for them against USC. On the other hand, after they one, I did feel guilty. As for not hooking up with a Stanfurdite, I think the key is not to date one. Oh, and not wearing red, that's kind of hard isn't it? I know a bunch of Bears that refuse to wear red for any occasion. But, my general rule is not on campus, not in the city of Berkeley, and certainly not to a game.

in Should College Athletes be Booed? on Bears Necessity
I guess my attitude has changed a bit since I left Buffalo, I've become a bit more positive. And, let me tell you that Dallas-Buffalo game was absolute torture. It had been so long since MNF had gone to Buffalo. The fans were awesome. The city looked fantastic. It was the worst loss since the Music City Miracle. Jesus, I have seen so many terrible Bills losses, nothing Cal can do can equal those.

Well, I think you know my opinion on this matter. You shouldn't boo your own college team. Period. They are not professionals, they are kids, for the most part one's that will receive a degree from Cal. The do get more leeway and they should.

I do think you're conflating issues: whether fans do boo and whether they should.

Also, as for the ridiculous proposition of someone traveling from across the country and only doing so if the team is successful, well, I guess I am one of those persons. I'm a loyal person, hell, I'm from Buffalo. I will love my friends and family until the end. Same goes for my hometown, college, and sports teams. Maybe we are just different this way, but yeah, I will support the team when it fails. After all, I did go to EVERY home game in 2001 when Cal fell to 1-10.

in The Bears Are Roaring: Week of 5/21 on Bears Necessity
Hey man, I understand the need to branch out. I moved to SF after college even though I was still staying in the Bay Area for law school. Now, I'm moving to Texas. And, I've been able to travel, if only a bit. Still, I re-up with season tickets every year and plan on flying back for a couple games, even if I have to search between the sofa cushions for coins. Your Golden Bears need you brother!

You are running a Cal blog and you are not going to buy season tickets? Wtf? That's about as absurd as your not going to Big-Game or not caring about the rivalry with the Furd (lesson learned, eh?).

Look, when I went to Cal, in 2003 my buddy decided to do the UCDC thing in the fall. I'm sure he enjoyed the whole DC thing, but then again, he missed Cal's upset of USC.

And, who actually gets ESPNU? I wish I did.
