in How did you get started in software development. - { |one, step, back| } on { |one, step, back| }
Hey Jim. In your intro paragraph I believe you meant to say Josh Holmes, not Josh Owens....

This was fascinating. Thanks for sharing.

in Goodbye Telligent and Thanks for all the fish! on fallenrogue's tumblr stuff
Best of luck Leon. As you know, you've got a place to do consulting work if you need it. I'm glad to see you taking a positive spin on a difficult time.

fallenrogue Thanks Josh! I'm sorry I missed your call yesterday and have been out pounding the pavement today. Can we talk tomorrow? Or perhaps this weekend? I'll tweet you too just in case. :)

I really enjoyed this, thanks for sharing. It didn't sound stiff at all, rather comfortable actually.

in My CodeMash Reading List on Code Softly
Thanks for putting this together. I was going to do the same myself, but now I don't need to.

Nice to meet you this week.

Thanks for the mention of meetinbetween.us. RailsRumble was an awesome experience this year, I can't wait to do it again.

in The Above-the-Fold Myth on My Card. My Work
"Seems a little silly" is right. Prominent content should be at the top of the page, no doubt.

The question is: Are scrollbars usable? and: Do people actually scroll?

Jakob Nielson emphatically says "Yes"

in Previewing Highrise from 37Signals on Duct Tape Marketing
Now that Highrise has officially released... I think people are starting to realize that it's not meant to be a traditional CRM tool...

IE. Don't compare Salesforce.com with Highrise... they are for similar, but ultimately different tasks.

Highrise is for managing contact between people, not so much about tracking potential sales leads. Of course, many people will use it for this purpose, but by leaving things wide open they are encouraging many people to come up with their own solutions which are managed by their software.

in Highrise, 37Signals finally ready to reveal it’s contact management application on Thought Stream: Nitin Badjatia's Weblog
I'm looking forward to the release. I don't think it's their goal to compete with people like SugarCRM, rather to reconsider the goal of the application and build the simplest possible solution.
