I also thought that a minute long pre-roll was way too long.

In answer to the question of "Is anyone not getting complaints from users?", I would have to say that I have not gotten any. The vast majority of my audience is getting the enhanced version of my podcast and that file format (AAC) currently does not support pre-roll ads. :-)

I was really stressing when I upgraded to Leopard and SuperDuper was not yet available. Now that it has been upgraded and I have a full backup (just last night) I sleep easier.

Your comment about OpenSocial was not quite accurate. Google is helping create the standard for what OpenSocail is as as API but that does not mean it will hit Google servers. If my company writes an OpenSocial plugin that a user uses on MySpace, Google servers would not see any of the traffic.

If you are not on twitter, now is the time. Last year it was one of the biggest tools for coordinating what was happening and coordinating will only be harder in Vegas.

My biggest concern is probably just that the new owners are not the Bourquins and I think they did a fine job with NME (and its various names) over the last 4 years. But times change and I am currently also planning on going. And Paul you are right, August in Las Vegas, ugh.

When I had a sit down with Adam Curry of Mevio at PNME 2007 I was surprised that he and his staff seemed to think that much of the grown in my show the Amateur Traveler must be related to the mevio.com site. That seemed to be to be inconsistent with every stat that I had seen but I think they believed it very sincerely. With the video show that I have I certainly saw big numbers when they promoted a video but the audio shows were almost impossible to find.

Now that I have moved off of Mevio but not taken down the old shows I can see that almost all of my traffic moved as the feeds moved which is what I expected. My guess is from the numbers I am seeing now are that less than 10% of the traffic ever came from their website.

I agree that most of the "podcast networks" really are not acting as a network to cross promote different shows. On TV I certainly find that the more I watch a specific network the more I see ads for their new shows and therefore the more I watch that network.

This one was not a big surprise. I talked to people at the NME last Summer said that they were having trouble paying their bills. It would be interesting to know if Gigavox will be making their slotting (that Podango was using) available anywhere else.
