California doesn't have the generating capacity to keep the lights on all summer, and you're expecting to charge up an electric car?

It must pain the 'softies greatly to write software that runs on something other than Windows.

You can be sure that Nokia will be "encouraged" to switch to WinCE for all their phones, and that Silverlight for non-WinCE will be quietly dropped the moment they do.

Search: oh, most of it isn't really of interest to you. It's minutia that would be useful to someone trying to build a relationship network and figure out who runs certain groups and all that.

Gizo: yeah, I am. I actually throw out most email after I answer it. So, 1.5 gigs is only the good stuff.

Solomonrex: have you ever been on a plane? Have you ever looked at what people use on their laptops? I have. Dozens of times. A high percentage of people watch movies on their laptops. A better HD experience there is a selling feature for many people. Not all, I understand that, but if something is appealing to 1% of the audience that can provide a bit of growth for a company like Dell.

Marvin, we just bought a 15" MacBook Pro. I'm well aware of how nice OSX is. Or isn't. I don't get religious about OS's. Personally it isn't that much better than XP and I have Vista which does lots of AV tasks better than OSX. It does HD natively too.

By the way, I did Channel 9 (approx 700 hours of video content) on Windows and it didn't give me many troubles. Not sure what you're talking about. My camera worked with XP the first time out of the box.

Resolution is more important to me than the OS, by the way, but that's just me.

in Hello from the road on Scobleizer
Deke, I agree with you. But, when you realize people are self-interested it lets you understand how to change the world. That's how I started Channel 9. I worked very hard to get over people's fears and self-interested motivations.

That said, capitalism is still the best economic system, even with its many flaws.

Jeff, good point. But after seeing 1080 (no i) on a high res screen you would be VERY impressed.

Plus it's just better all around too. Text is better on such a screen and you can fit more in (if your eyes are good enough to look at small icons and text).

David: watching a DVD while driving is illegal and dangerous. But, my 12-year-old son sits in the back seat with headphones while watching a DVD.

John: I've had my cell number on my blog for years and only get a few calls a week and 95% of them are really high quality.

By the way, this wireless cell card from Verizon really rocks. We're now in California!!!

I'm typing to you from Hwy 5. Somewhere near Yreka.

Stephan: are you a Steve Jobs lovechild like Patrick is? That might explain why you didn't find them funny.

The Apple ones cost hundreds of thousands, maybe even millions, of dollars to do. I'm sure these were done for a lot less than that.

Mike: because what value does Dell add? The final mile of distribution to you and service, right? Well, doesn't Lenovo (formerly IBM) now do that too?

The Chinese will figure out how to remove a few more cents from the distribution channel and will eat Dell's market share away. Lenovo will spend billions in the American market over next few years.

Dave: I know it, you know it, but they say that out of their customer base there aren't many Firefox users. I sorta believe them and can understand the need for prioritizing workload but I think that decision may come around to bite them. It depends how fast they'll be able to get an update done and out, though. And how good IE 7 is at holding enterprise market share.
