It's amazing how you can associate these two events in a causally connected manner, Jim. But that's just your scientific mind and finely-tuned analytical thinking shining through, isn't it?

The Santa Claus analogy could cover the type of prayer people offer to God. Prayer like "please help Aunty Mary get bettter", or "we pray for the impoverished citizens of...", etc.
These are really prayers of the form "Please God, magic the world better. Amen"
The parent analogy is good, too. For example, you see your child about to be consumed by a deadly fire, what do you do? Of course, you offer the child the "free gift" of salvation, but only on the condition that he reads and understands an ancient text written thousands of years ago. If the child rejects the "free gift", why, of course, he deserves to be burnt. That's his choice. No matter what his choice, you still love him - that's just good parenting.

I think Jim is trying to adopt the people skills of the liberals whilst retaining the theology of the fundamentalists.

God will never let you down, you say. There's some fine print to consider, though, isn't there? You might have to wait until the next life before seeing those promises fulfilled. Doesn't apply, of course, to dead babies, the intellectually deficient, and the criminally insane who go to Hell because they didn't or couldn't "accept Christ".
Dead babies tortured in Hell forever - but God will still love them; He's totally dependable that way.
Amazing.

Which Salvationists would you suggest? Ones of a liberal theological persuasion, or those that lean more to fundamentalism? They contradict each other, so both types cannot be correct.
If it's easier for you, just list the names of Salvationists to avoid (if that is the smaller list), or the list of recommended Salvationists.

Have you flow-charted it? Have it clearly documented in a procedures manual so you don't leave out any steps. Also, someone else can take it over when you're not available.

How to pump the market up - "losses were less than expected"...
"Even though our company (C) lost billions this year, the past six weeks we made a couple of thousand dollars"....
I promise.... maybe.
I have to say, I'm not a fan of the green day and expect it to fail tomorrow. But I'll be trading what the market gives and if we go up, great, I'll be long and happy. If we go down, not so good, but I'll be short.

in Australia on TCspeak
"Australia is a lucky country run mainly by second-rate people who share its luck. It lives on other people's ideas, and, although its ordinary people are adaptable, most of its leaders (in all fields) so lack curiosity about the events that surround them that they are often taken by surprise. A nation more concerned with styles of life than with achievement has managed to achieve what may be the most evenly prosperous society in the world. It has done this in a social climate largely inimical to originality and the desire for excellence (except in sport) and in which there is less and less acclamation of hard work. According to the rules Australia has not deserved its good fortune."
Donald Horne, "A Lucky Country".
Still applies, Jim. You may have noticed, it's not hard to spot.

in The Bible on TCspeak
Yep, there's something for everyone in the Bible.
"Women's Weekly" style gossip:
When you come, bring the cloak that I left with Carpus at Troas, and my scrolls, especially the parchments. Alexander the metalworker did me a great deal of harm. The Lord will repay him for what he has done. (2 Timothy 4:13-13)
Scientific guidelines (CSIRO need to look at this):
Jacob, however, took fresh-cut branches from poplar, almond and plane trees and made white stripes on them by peeling the bark and exposing the white inner wood of the branches. Then he placed the peeled branches in all the watering troughs, so that they would be directly in front of the flocks when they came to drink. When the flocks were in heat and came to drink, they mated in front of the branches. And they bore young that were streaked or speckled or spotted. (Genesis 30:37-39)
Family values such as how to sell your daughter:
And if a man sell his daughter to be a maidservant, she shall not go out as the menservants do. (Exodus 21:7)

I'm actually pleasantly surprised by the lineup. Inevitably, most of the performers have played the festival multiple times before, but amidst the repeat offenders I think Beaver productions managed to snag some pretty big names that will ensure that the festival sells out this years.
Hats off for booking Korn, 311, Ben Harper, Snoop Dogg, The Cult, and several other noteworthy names. I will certainly be attending all 3 days this year.

The BSMF has been the highlight of the year for me almost every year since I was in 6th grade, and there have been some truly amazing years with great bands. Dave Matthews Band, Stone Temple Pilots, Incubus, just to name a few that don't qualify as "second-tier artists." Yet if you look at the past 2 or 3 lineups, you are hard pressed to find anybody who has not made an appearance or 3 at the festival. It is time for new blood.

Good question. Do they intend to litter an entire stage with these mediocre bands on Sunday?

It is kind of frustrating - you would think being the home of rock and roll (anybody?) that Memphis would be a MAJOR market for concerts. Fact is, most heavyweight artists avoid Memphis like the plague. We just had one of the largest, nicest arenas in the country built downtown, and the only acts we get there are rappers, country singers, and pop stars.
