Totally agree with previous comments. The "geeks" haven't been put into those roles in a long time. If you are most comfortable huddled behind a computer cranking out code, that's great and that's what you should do. Those aren't the people that are making it to the CIO or CTO role. Classic example is Steve Wozniak. He lets Jobs be the boss, all he wanted to do was engineer.

Great post! This has me even more excited about my move! I saw Wu Tang will also be at the concert series. Hopefully I'll be there in time for The Roots too.

My disconnect is running. Even that has different levels of disconnecting. I usually have my ipod and a Garmin Forerunner GPS when I run, so I'm still having sound pumped into my ear and digits flashing information to me from atop my wrist. Some of my most favorite runs though have been when i ran with neither. No drowning out sound, no distance and speed calculations. I don't know why I don't do it more often, but I think that is the challenge most of us that are almost always connected face: Pushing away from the buzz.

What do you do when you feel the market gap would be there if the management team were different? Try to strengthen the management team? Improve the capital situation?

I agree with many of your points and am curious what you think the better combination is. Another question may be why would McDonalds/Coinstar want to sell?
