in Apple Is a Mean, Hot, Devil-Woman on A New Marketing
Apple's been in the game a long time, but never a mass market leader. However, it's earned a sort of elitist reputation. Which is why it gets away with treating customers badly. As it's popularity grows, I think this will become more and more of a problem until eventually people won't stand for it anymore.

Yea, actually I see your point of view. And while it will probably be harder to build up front, it'll provide a better pay off in the long run. (Like anything really)

in My Blogging Checklist… on The Marketing Technology Blog
While I agree niche is the way to go, from the perspective of starting a blog I think it's a bit risky.

I would be more inclined to cast my net a little wide and then narrow it down as my blog progresses... carve out my niche. As a safer route to success.

Douglas Karr Hi Kelly,

If I could do it all over, I'd have 4 to 6 blogs - one with each topic area. I think people shop for feeds the way they shop for produce... they don't grab the mixed bag, they grab the bag they want. :)

This would allow me to concentrate my content as well as cross-promote the sites. The problem with going with a wide net is that you're really working against all the niches already out there. I don't think you're giving your content a fair chance.

in The Ultimate Compliment – ManufIT on The Marketing Technology Blog
I think it's very forward-thinking of you to a)allow him to 'borrow' elements from your design and b)compliment him on it!

And I think your and ManuIT's sites look great! good job!

in Online Shoppers Read Multiple Reviews on Marketing Pilgrim
I think equally as valuable as customer reviews is companies publicly responding to reviews --particularly bad ones.

When I was researching for an upcoming vacation, I went to TripAdvisor to see what people were saying about the hotels I was considering. The one I chose did not necessarily have all the best reviews--but actually had a member of management responding to all the replies. Because hey, nothing's perfect, but who doesn't love to know if they feel the need to complain afterwards, they will at least be listened too?

in How to Get People to Open your Email on Marketing Pilgrim
Great points and I do agree, however, there's also a crucial factor that unfortunately is not often identified (or taken note of) in industry reports. While creating a stellar subject line may increase open rates on one email, constantly delivering timely, meaningful and relevant email content and keeping subscribers happy will allow for consistently high open and click rates!

Thanks,

Kelly

Thanks!
Believe it or not, we dreamed the whole idea up yesterday afternoon. I'm surprised we pulled it together.

Great job!

I didn't dress up our blog for Halloween, however, I did post a photo of our email marketing team dressed up as 'the e-team'

Douglas Karr Kelly,

That is too cool! Looks like a fun shop to work in! Thanks for letting me know I'm not the only goof around the net.

in Browser Wars: Internet Explorer continues to Lose to Firefox, What’s Safari? on The Marketing Technology Blog
It's shocking to see this chart when you consider that many sites are still NOT compatible with Firefox. As a long time Firefox user, this drives me crazy.

in The Less I Watch, the Better Things Get! on The Marketing Technology Blog
I can completely relate! And especially since my company blog was relocated and thus started from scratch again, it's ridiculous how much time I spend obsessive over our so far, pretty sad stats.. If only I could re-direct that energy to the posts... It'd probably be doing a lot better!

I wish you luck, I'm sure once you get into the swing of things you'll make more time for posting!
