These are great tips! I just recently finished writing and publishing a career workbook; a business version is on its way!

One resource that you didn't mention that I found to be incredibly valuable was to contact an actual published author. I was surprised to realize the number of colleagues and friends that have books on the market so it was easy to make contact but they shared that they are always willing to talk to others. Their experience was invaluable and really helped me make some crucial decisions before proceeding.

A professional colleague suggested that I see her acupuncture when I complained about insomnia from working too much! The obvious solution would be to work less but that was not going to happen anytime soon.

As a nurse, I hate needles. They make me feel uncomfortable. Yes, I know...it is an oxymoron. Therefore, going to someone who was going to stick needles inside of me seemed like a really bad idea but I listened to my friend. Although the first experience was full of anxiety, I quickly became aware of the benefits of the treatment.

My weekly appointments were as valuable as my yoga class while I was trying to survive corporate America. I HIGHLY recommend everyone to take that first step towards making an appointment with an acupuncturist. It is wonderful!

Hmmm...I wonder where this is located in Michigan. There is an adorable 'old school' candy store along the west shore in Holland that I love.

Another great assessment test that I use with clients is the MAPP. The focus of the test is on identifying what motivates someone. It is believed that our motivations determine our success and happiness in our careers.

I always tell my clients that every decision that they make for their business is a risk. However, if they are smart about fully understanding their options and potential outcomes before making that decision, it becomes a strategic risk. The outcome, whether good or bad, is manageable because of the leg work put into the process.
