in How YouTube Is Missing Out On $1.2 Billion A Year By Not Having A Business Channel on Jim Kukral
Thanks for commenting. The problem with Vimeo and all the rest is they don't offer those list of features I mentioned that are very important to a business moving forward. Maybe they will in the future. Not sure why Youtube would want to let a competitor move up and take this piece of the pie though.
As for kids putting their skateboarding videos on YT business. Um, nope. Nobody except a real business is going to shell out $100/month. Especially some kid.
The potential is huge, isn't it?

Yeah, everything is a learning curve, but you have to innovate and try, in my opinion, as a marketer if you want to stay ahead.

If the polls by end of August said 70/30 Obama. You still think this would be far fetched?
Sam Harrelson
The polls will stay within 10 points until right before the election. Obama will win by 12-15 but the real story will be the major pickups by Democrats in places like SC's 2nd Congressional District.
The Republicans would be committing political suicide if they try a shenanigan like this.

in Are bloggers being stiffed by one of their own? on WinExtra Comments
It matters, because you're part of the collective of bloggers, with me and everyone else. I think my comment came off a bit too accusatory. I was speaking in generic terms of course, not at you Steven.

Cool :) but your point about due diligence was spot on and to a certain point you were correct - I should have shot Scott an email first and really TechCrunch as well although I doubt they would have answered it,

in Are bloggers being stiffed by one of their own? on WinExtra Comments
Perhaps one of the reasons bloggers still get a bad rap is that they don't do their diligence. For example, instead of writing this blog post so you could get on Techmeme linked to Scott's story, you could have emailed Scott first and asked him to clarify. Just saying.

How do I phrase this nicely?
I do not write anything to get on Techmeme or any other stupid ass list. I write what I do because these are the thoughts that come to me. AS for due diligence maybe you are right I should have emailed Scott before writing the post but equally so I could have written TechCrunch to ask them if they had intentionally phrased that sentence to make it sound like only journalists were good enough to be a part of the project but then I'm just a no nothing backwater blog that is probably so under the radar it doesn't matter what I write. :)

I'm with you. Gary's video(s) really hit home as a reminder of the things I learned years ago, fortunately for me. Gary kills it everytime. Must watch/listen stuff. He's an inspiration, even if you're already on the track he's preaching.

So true about the Flip cam batteries. I've lost a bunch of vids that way. I keep an entire pack of backup batteries in my backpack at all times for my Flip. You make that mistake once...

To talk about it as you suggest is the first step to solving the issue, agreed. Problem is, there's lots of people who don't want that to happen, for many reasons, mostly bad.
I agree, you're going to get hammered for this post because most people won't really read it. Should have done it in video for quadruple effect.

I own it, yeah, but I don't make any money from it. Goes straight to the jingle maker. I get nada. More fun than anything. You going to order? You need a jingle.

Sit down and talk to some college students, or 20-year-olds. Ask the about the media they consume. The future is going to be fun with the new devices and bandwidths... Online video is just the start.

Steve's point is well taken to me. If you really, really look around, you'll see that the blogs out there that have all the sponsorships and thousands and thousands of readers... They all have the same thing.
Well thought-out, original content and ideas.
I struggle with producing that type of content myself. Why? Because it's hard. It's "easier' for me to piggyback off a techmeme story and add my contribution.
If I would just stop doing that, and instead work on more, better high-quality content I would be in better shape in terms of my monetization and readership. No question on that.

I take your point, Jim -- and Steve's too. And I'm all in favour of
working on deeper content -- I try to do that too. I just thought
Steve was a little too negative, that's all.
