Welcome to the Zune blogosphere.

I operate Zunerama, and if you would like a link to ZuneSphere on our main page, check out our Webmasters page.

Good luck with the blog!

- Harvey
http://www.Zunerama.com

Re: An interview with a Zune beta tester

Thanks for the summary, ZuneSphere!

- Harvey
http://www.zuneram.com

Re: Zune Preview Party at the Element in Los Angeles

That's fun - thanks for posting. I was at the preview event as well, I didn't realize there was another Zune blogger there (in addition to Zunerama and ZuneScene). Nice pix!

Hope to see you at some future event.

Harvey
http://www.zunerama.com

Re: Is Apple copying Microsoft?

Two mild surprises for me in today's Zune debut announcement:
1. Choice of downloads or subscriptions. This had been speculated, but nice to see it confirmed by Microsoft. We think many will be attracted to the simple subscription model.
2. Imports from iTunes. We need more details on this, but Microsoft pledges to make it easy to transfer your existing playlist to Zune - with the important caveat "as permitted by the online service from which it was purchased". We were surprised to see it highlighted in the Zune fact sheets, and are interested in how it can be pulled off without better cooperation from other online music stores.

www.Zunerama.com

Re: Gearing up for the ScobleShow

Podcasting has been rumored, but not confirmed, in Zune.
I think it will not be in the first player, or at least not fully-functional.
It's not specified in any of yesterday's press materials, and I don't see any clear answers from Microsoft in response to yesterday's many interviews.
Even ZuneInsider's response leaves some room for interpretation.
My guess: we'll see a limited form in November, and full podcasting support integrated into Zune II.

- Harvey
http://www.Zunerama.com

Re: Will Apple sue PodTech.net? This makes no sense as a strategy for Apple.

Most companies would kill to have a category-defining brand name like Vice-Grips, Crescent wrench, Ziploc, Kleenex, etc.

Apple has tremendous branding in the term podcast. Now they want to restrict its use. Unbelievable.

- frabgod
http://www.zunerama.com

Re: My thoughts about Zune vs. iPod

If Zune Version 1 is as good as I'm seeing it, and if Microsoft stays committed to its success (as they have with Xbox), then I'm in.
The subscription service, the screen size, the built-in FM, the cool UI, and sure, the wireless sharing, are good enough to put it over iPod for me.
It's been well thought out, and I think we'll see many of the holes - like podcasting - filled painlessly in firmware releases.

- Harvey
http://www.zunerama.com

Re: A Zunester’s response (Microsoft employee)

I think Caulton is right that the white iPod cords are so commonplace now that they don't get a second glance.

I think Zune players will be somewhat eyecatching at first with the larger screen. There has been such limited marketing of Zune so far, though, that most people won't know enough to say, "Hey, man, is that the new so-called iPod-killer from Microsoft?"

- Harvey
(Zunerama)

Re: Blog cause you want to (and include sex in your headlines)

Those are great criteria for success. #9, in particular, hits home with me: Get Outside the Blogosphere.
We get obsessed with what other bloggers are writing and opining.
Recently I left the dim lights of my office, where I run a Zune blog, and went to 10 electronics stores in my area to ask about Zune. (My first undercover assignment.)
The perspectives I got were totally fresh, and in many ways startlingly different than the blogging conventional wisdom.
- Harvey (Zunerama)

Re: One More Piece Of Proof That Microsoft Has Zune All Wrong

Paul,
I've heard (from Zunester I believe) that Microsoft plans to add podcasting to Zune through a firmware upgrade. It should have happened right out of the gates, but if they do it right I'm willing to wait. Other than that I'm really pleased with my Zune.
I'd be curious what your thoughts are on how Zune could improve the podcasting experience over iPod. What Apple offers seems pretty rudimentary - do you have a wishlist for how Microsoft (or Apple, for that matter) could improve podcasting support?
I'd love to see a blog about that.

- Harvey
Editor, Zunerama

Re: About Zune Luv

Hello Paul,

Nice work with the website. I run Zunerama.com, it's a blog and user forum. With over 50 Zune articles created and published, we're a leading Zune news site. It's good to see another Zune site out there that publishes original content.

Check out our "Zune Marketing Slogans" thread - there are some good ones there.

- Zunerama Ed.

www.zunerama.com - Blog
www.zunerama.com/forum - Zune Forums

Re: $100 Says No VOIP in Zune

Paul, no takers here on that bet.
