I was intrigued by this photo, so I checked out some more on your flickr page... seriously, phenomenal action shots... thanks for sharing your process. I am so green when it comes to photography (learning, learning all the time)... anyway, whatever you did, it worked. been meaning to tell you for some time now just how much I enjoy your photography. you have an incredible eye, both in terms of composition and subject. and I LOVE the one of the propain matchbook cover... (ward is feeling it as well).

on a side note, been set up with flickr for awhile but haven't gotten our photos scanned and organized into groups...! looking forward to it as I find flickr to be a wonderful, wonderful thing. I'm big on viewing pics on slideshow and your action shots look amazing in slideshow... if you decrease the display time to 1-2 seconds, you can almost see them dancing (very cool animated-like effect)...

ward and I took this quiz awhile back and he was more midwest than me and I was more dixie than him. he grew up in the south (born and raised in atlanta) and I grew up in illinois/ohio. go figure.

the colors in this shot are wonderful... okay, ward and I have been sucked into the world of lomo and have been doing the research and are looking to purchase one. would love to talk to you first, though, since it seems you have a good deal of experience with it... (the comments here were interesting to read, too)...

oh, and I'm finally (FINALLY) up on flickr. not too many photos up yet but getting there. I'm up in the place, at least. I'm so addicted right now. it's kind of scary.

yes, that is exactly the feeling I get here (not that I have a lomo... but hopefully soon)... the tone, the feeling, the quality is so similar to how you see pictures in your mind, how you remember things... really really cool.

yeah, I've got lots of wonderful memories associated with that album, too.

always playin it loud on the big brown stereo at our house. my personal fave was 'if I can't have you (I don't want nobody baby)'... loved to dress up and lip sync to that one for real... ward plays it every once in awhile just to watch my do my little girl disco moves!

I wasn't allowed near that movie either (though my parents bought us the album)... there was a girl in my class who did go see it and I was SO JEALOUS. watching it later on in my life, I was struck by how dark of a movie it was. and you're right on. that's what made it so good.

DUDE. this photo of you is killing me! so glad you're back home. you've been at the top of our prayer list since saturday night and it's just so good that you're back.

man, it's hard to make those major lifestyle changes... (especially when it's something that you've already done once and you know better... I am so guilty of this time and time again!)... but life gets in the way... work and kids... I know how it is. nothing will motivate you like your health, though. I mean, it's great to have the motivation to look good (my twenties!) but when your health is on the line, you can really get serious... my mom had a health scare a couple of years back. she had been battling her weight for years but it was that scare that motivated her to get right. I'm finding that my body is a little less forgiving now that I've hit my thirties and I'm trying so hard to be proactive and establish good habits... but it's SO HARD. like I said, life gets in the way and it is such a struggle.

know that you're not alone in this struggle and know that we'll be praying for you.

ha, funny I am reading this because ward and ava left about fifteen minutes ago to see chicken little...! ava was excited (of course) but ward has read the reviews and seen the promos and is not expecting much... (he'll enjoy reading your take on this, jon, when he gets home)... I'm going to let ward address the whole disney thing as it's the thorn in many a side of many an animator. the incredibles indeed rocked the casbah and pixar is to thank for that. disney just owns pixar and in no way can take any credit for the creativity and freshness there... which brings us to chicken little and you see what disney is doing and it doesn't seem to be working. they have made some horrible, horrible moves and this movie is the proof. yikes, I'm starting to channel ward here! anyway, enjoyed reading your review/rant.
