in Podcast: Russian Guitar Music on Naxos Blog
I was fascinated by the music introduced in this podcast. I'm not even sure that I like it but I'm downloading it so I can listen to it seriously. It's certainly not BGM!

in Comcast's 250GB limit? (Scripting News) on Scripting News
1. I was appalled by the way that Comcast treated you last month. Contrast this to the way Emusic treated me a few years ago. I was like a child let loose in a candy store downloading lots of interesting old music when it was an "all you can eat service". I was sent a polite letter stating I was downloading too much and explained their situation. In other words, it was useful information. I felt that it was not unfair and still am a customer with one of their annual subscription plans.
2. Bandwidth is a limited commodity and overloads during peak time periods degrades the experience for all users. Harking back to your original idea for overnight downloads of audio files, etc. that turned into podcasts, would time of day pricing be another idea. For example, if ptp, subscription downloads, and other non-interactive bandwidth uses could be handled during off peak load periods, available bandwidth could be used more effectively. Do you really need to have Bit Torrent running from 6 PM to 11 PM?
3. Competition is good. In the part of Tokyo that I live in, we have a CATV provider, 2 fiber choices (NTT and the electric power company), 40 MBPS ADSL and 7 MBPS wireless data. All of this helps to keep prices down.

in Scripting the iPod (Scripting News) on Scripting News
I have a Podcasts smart playlist in iTunes. I use both iTunes and Juice to get podcasts. The list pickups mp3 and other audio files that meet the conditions of having the genre tag podcast and # of play times = 0. If you only want to have only recently downloaded material in the list, you can add the condition of files added within a number of days, weeks or months. When you sync your iPod, if this playlist is one of the playlists that you have designated for syncing, it will delete the files that you have played and add the new content. It will also delete files that have exceeded your designated time limit if you have added the third condition to the smart playlist.
