News leaked yesterday that facebook which is the second largest community website in USA is planning to enter china soon. And facebook is looking for acquiring target. In the original plan, Facebook planned to offer a Chinese version website like myspace, but finally gave up. Now news said facebook will enter china by acquirement. The whole process will be led by VC, and facebook provides IP and brand support.
facebook and myspace, both are social network websites, and both have successful profit on advertising business. According to forecast, facebook will achieve 125 million ad. revenue in 2007, and myspace will get 525 million.
The business value behind social networking websites has been recognized in USA, how about in china? currently, although social networking websites are only popular with school and young people, they have attracted lots of venture capital. They lined up neatly and quietly waited for their supervisor. Now, young websites like zhanzuo.com have been the spoiled child of venture capital just because they know how to run social networking websites for young people.
