It constantly amazes us how He can take the most ugly, vile things and create such beauty from them. I stay clear of it now. I would like to be able to write it (at least a bit), but have no idea how to start. What you posted here has given me a spark of hope that it may be possible, so where do I go from here?

(P.S. (Dead people can't desire-spiritually dead that is.)

"I do not hear direct confirmation from God."

Actually, we do, just not an audible voice.

I remember once, when time$ were tough, praying for the means to make cookies for Christmas that year. That very week, someone left a box on our doorstep with one of everything off the baking aisle.

This doesn't happen just once, but every week (no, not the baking-the direct leading and answered prayer).

"I want to hear thunder. I want a divine reprimand like Job gets. I want to fall on my face like Isaiah and say, “I am ruined.”

I hear ya, Mark. I want that and yet I'm terrified to actually get it. Each of them is important, yet definitely have their place.

God must come first for all to fall into place. People have more value (eternal value) than activites or jobs.
Providing for our families comes after the actual people. Then writing or whatever it is that tickles our fancy.

How do you know when to do what? There are just so many hours in one day. Do you give up the extras, wait for the kids to grow up, try to juggle both....? Tough choices. Most people I know have opted to give up their dreams.

For now, I've chosen to juggle. I've given up things in the past-quilting and even reading (for a time). I found that my creativity banged against its cages to be free.

To be free, but not to take over-therein lies the struggle.

"God help us, daring to try is the payoff."

Re: Sharpen the Steel and Do It Do It

"God goes with me no matter what priority I’m pursuing.

But then I thought I could be misinterpreted. The whole thrust here is similar-to make the church as comfortable and inviting for sinners as possible, in order that many would enter the church doors.

The problem (s) with this is that we are not called to do this, but to GO and preach the gospel (itself an uncomfortable message to most). Go Evangelism has a bit more on this topic.

Re: CSFF Day 2 - Theology, Breasts, and Riding Bicycles

True. This book did not rank tops on that aspect, but I really enjoyed the marrying of real-life mom with fantasy.

The "whining" that was referred to by Cath. was something I so realated to. The main character is introduced as not whiney, but going through a major depression (all is well on the outside, but on the inside-hell).

The verses were encouraging as well.

I think that this book fits primarily moms who have not had much experience with fantasy. Fits it perfectly.

I give the book a 7 out of 10.

The purpose of CSFF? To promote the genre(s).

Don't get discouraged over someone's lack of sensitivity.
